There was a law that made it illegal to do what Trump did vis a vis the Secret Service staying in his hotels etc. Because no one had ever violated this law, it has never been tried in court. Well now is the time to try it. ALL the work done by this gentleman and others needs to be brought together and presented in a court case against the lame duck president- ideally after he becomes the ex-president. Americans want Justice. We've been denied Justice for four years and for many of us it's beeb not just beyond the pale, but torture.. So I hope and I pray that the powers-that-be will understand that this has nothing to do with vengeance; it has to do with Justice. Fair is fair. IT is now the time for the American people to take to court this man and have the legal system do its duty by the American people. He may be the first of his kind but he will not be the last. This is not and has long since ceased being a laughing matter. It's Lady Liberty's turn. The of Statue of Liberty was made by the French and modeled on an Arab woman. Her time has come.

I was deeply upset when you withdrew from Congress. I was furious at the whole "scandal" that wasn't a scandal. It is so amazing how far out of bounds movements, organizations, and others often go, making important ideas weak. One accusation brings down people, without study, without proof. Look at Johnny Depp, among many others. I am a staunch feminist. But what that really means is equality and fairness to everyone, all the time. I miss your voice in Congress. I'm hoping that your popularity on Internet will hold great influence with people. Thank you for this post.

@@NickRichards7 We did our research. I have no idea why Al Franken was treated this way by his own, especially considering how so little is said about the serial rapist in the White House, but your little CBS report proved nothing. That photo was obviously just a joke, and neither was she sleeping nor was he touching her. There was a cameraman there, remember? Nothing Al did warranted his being removed from the Senate especially considering the damage so many Republican Senators have done to people in this country for years, including being against the Violence Against Women Act and women's reproductive rights. Al Franken was one of the most effective Senators Democrats had. His questioning in various hearings was brilliant. He's an amazingly intelligent man with an ironic sense of humor. We need him back, and someone needs to make an apology, especially the radical-right woman who pretended he had hurt her somehow when she was totally in on the joke from the beginning.

@@NickRichards7 No, I'm an independent and have never joined a political party in my life. Take it or leave it. "Conservatives" always hurl phony accusations against people without knowing what they're talking about, so I'm not surprised here. _Business Insider_ has this article: *The 25 women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct* www.businessinsider.com/women-accused-trump-sexual-misconduct-list-2017-12 Not sure if among the 25 was the 13-year-old who was raped by him _repeatedly_ with another young girl watching. This was at Epstein's house, if I recall correctly, in the 70s. Here's a link to an article written by her lawyer: www.huffpost.com/entry/donald-trump-rape-case_n_581a31a5e4b0c43e6c1d9834 The girl was threatened with death and the death of her family if she ever told anyone. Nice. He also raped his first wife Ivana when he was mad at her over some hair plugs or some shit like that. She wrote about it in her book. More recently, in June 2019, columnist E. Jean Carroll accused him of sexually assaulting her by forcing his penis inside her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the mid-1990s. She still has the dress in case anyone wants evidence. Furthermore, I was horrified when I saw him put his hands on either side of his _daughter's hips,_ for God's sake, right there on TV at the Republican National Convention. No one said anything, not even the media that I recall at the time. This was the same group of people who whined when First Lady Michelle Obama had bared her-::gasp::-ARMS in a photograph. Oh. My. God. Her successor had nude pictures taken of her that ended up in the paper before the election. Not a word from the Republicans over that either. He bragged about how he mistreated women in the Access Hollywood video. He talked about how he walked into the dressing room full of naked teenage girls at his beauty pageant. The guy is a sleazy, sick criminal, and he's our freaking president, and you just love him! Birds of a feather flock together. What have you got in your past?

So, regarding the virus, I am scared to death. I'm in compromised health to begin with, and I am kind of forced to live with my daughter and my grandchildren, and I have to say, about 2 months ago, I got really sick, and I couldn't get air enough to cough, it lasted about a month. I didn't see a doctor, because mine is out of town, but it was rough, and strange because I got better after musinex DM, a full bottle later, but never all the way. About a week after I thought I was almost well, but it came back, not as bad, but it's been three weeks, and I still occasionally feel bad. It's made me wonder if it was here longer, because I got it after visiting my doctor and I am now deathly afraid to go to any of my doctor appointments or any hospital. My daughter is making scary choices, working at a hospital, bringing home, who knows what... It's very worrisome having a six year old on a breathing treatment machine, since birth. It's several times worse by having a president who doesn't give a flying flit, if we have mass casualties, as long as he's keeping the markets up. I mean he's floating another tax cut for his friends. I hope that this doesn't get bad, but I have to say, we can't trust anything from this White House. Thanks for doing this podcast, Al, you have been sorely missed on Capitol Hill and most of us want you back to fight against the real criminals destroying the country and the world really.

Cherrish, I'll try to make time to get back to your note with some medical advice I think will help calm your fears and prepare you for future doctor visits; for now, I just want to say that yes, it's usually best to see your own physician in clinic--but if your symptoms are scaring you and you find you're getting worse instead of better, it's important that you call your clinic even when your own doc isn't available: they'll either have a staff nurse of a "nurse hotline" who will ask questions to determine whether you need to be seen sooner rather than wait. They'll want your vital signs--so it's important to learn how to take your temp, count your breaths per minute and count how many times your heart beats each minute (or have a friend who can do it--sounds like your daughter would know). Everyone should have a good thermometer at home, and people with chronic illnesses should have a blood pressure monitor--and with lung disease, a peak flow meter. Before any call to clinic, have a list of your symptoms written down (so you can save the nurse time for other patients, as well) and have a pencil and paper ready to write down any advice. If you are dangerously ill, you will be directed to the ER. If not, it's best to stay out of the ER as sicker patients will be seen first, so you may wait hours till you can be seen, and that wait time will expose you to other patients' disease. Please take care? I hope we will get a president in November who understands that we all need good healthcare coverage--and as long as we treat medicine like a business instead of as a human right, politicians will keep arguing about all kinds of half measures that, if accepted by people who think it should be rationed or better for those who can afford to pay more, or pretend that it isn't already controlled by a lot of people who aren't your doctor, then we'll keep getting crumbs and the system will get more broken and every time we make a little gain, another president can come along and sic lawyers after whatever system the last president set up. We need Medicare for All. . In the short run, I hope you get well quickly and, if not, you call your provider so you don't get stuck going to the ER when it's too late to heal you easily, okay? In the longer run, hope you vote, and I hope you'll have a chance to vote for Sanders. If the Democrat isn't Sanders, though, please vote for the Democrat because at least he's marginally better than Trump on health care, and without a doubt, far better as a human being.

@@oldwoman2121 thanks for caring, and all of your insights. I am compromised because of a botched abdominal surgery, that has been revised several times, only to fail. Iam the poster child for Medicare for all, because I spent 6 years unable to get any doctor to operate, when my bowel was twisted and sewn partially shut. Hernia mesh was exploded into millions of pieces, making small holes everywhere it migrated, and once again I need another surgery. This doesn't count my hip that was just done barely in the socket, and a back and knee I must do first, in order to be able to walk enough, after another major abdominal, which has caused about a month in the hospital and another in a nursing home after that, as well as the operation before where I got pnuemonia and ecoli, in the hospital. I have lost everything, trying to get well, and still Iam not. Don't worry because while Iam registered as an independent, I will vote for Bernie if given the chance. Iam in Oregon so by the time things get to us, we basically have two choices. I would vote for anyone virtually to get Trump out, as he is a threat to people like me, me personally, my grandchildren, and our lives are at stake, like so many others. Not to mention, I view him as a domestic enemy, an imposter installed by a hostile foreign power, to carry out vengeance and dismantle our institutions, allies, and system of government, and build himself wealth and power, by any means necessary. Yes, I am frightened, but I have no other control than to vote, and keep speaking out about the truth, even if people won't listen, it's still something I feel obligated to do, until my last breath, because the alternative ends life as we know it in this country, and it's already unrecognizable in some ways, due to the damage he has been able to do. I am much more worried about the people who count on me than myself, and I just feel helpless and defeated at times unable to do anything more than this about it.

Scottish govt knows about it because the airport in question was loosing money and the money the Air Force spends on fuel etc helps keep the airport open. Indeed. ..the story on how the US was offered working and effective virus tests by not just the world health organization but the Chinese government too and turned down by the Trump Administration all the way back in January should be spoken about 24/7 on news programs. .. if this was simply a deal where Trump and his sleazy friends wanted to make money off of a American virus test that would be bad enough. ..but its even worse than that. ..TRUMP and his team have been bashing the EU for years and supporting any stupid country that wants to leave the European Union. ... so what were actually seeing here is a situation where Trump and the GOP have no problem with seeing a million plus people die. ..as long as they demonize the EU, a conglomerate of countries who have decent health care systems and a bunch of other good stuff for their citizens they just don't care what happens to us. .. IE Trump and his team can't take Virus Tests from the EU because they understand that by doing that you'd be telling the world ...the people we've been saying can't do anything right. ..prove we were wrong by creating a Test that works better than ours does. ...

Al Franken makes me laugh. I've subscribed. Al if you're reading this: the greatest line from any movie, ever, was uttered by you: "I have got to get something more to eat." So true, so real, so raw, so authentic. A banana just isn't going to cut it.

John Oliver takes apart "Trump University" and shows "the school message" to its salesmen/employees: "You're not selling a product, or a service, or a benefit. You're selling a feeling." And, "never say Thank You to a prospect: say 'Congratulations,' so that they feel obliged to thank you"---for something imaginary they think they've gained.

Al Franken. I am selfish. It is good to have your voice back in my life on a regular basis. I was impressed that you put your money where your mouth was and made a run for the Senate. It was a perfect fit. You made our country better because of your service. But I am selfishly happy that you have this new gig. President Bush had Molly Irvins. Trump finally has his Molly Ivins and it is you.

Al, so glad you've made a work-around to keep your healthy & wise voice in the public. As you know, first hand, the real problem is not T-Rump. Our nation was built to have 3 AUTONOMOUS branches of gvt, to provide checks and balances. Congress has abdicated that position--- they are enabling him. Justice is not far behind, is it AG Barr?

8:08 Pence is RELIGIOUS. Such people "learn" by rote, they cannot accept new, 'novel' information, especially when it contradicts their strongly held BELIEFS. Just the kind of man we need in a science based crisis. Great to hear your voice, Al, oh, and multiple complete sentences that coalesce into thoughtful, cogent paragraphs are nice to hear too.

See out here is what I run into when I asked Trump supporters questions. They feel like I guess I am attacking them and they get very defensive instead of just answering questions and as a result I really don't know why they support him. So when you're saying I think this is what they mean when they say don't take him literally take him seriously. You're left to have to guess what they mean.
