Oh my goodness thank you so much for this. In my MATH 121 course they are teaching us to make a table or diagram that tests the signs of the factors. The method they are using is too confusing to understand. Your way makes so much more sense! Again, Robert thank you for shining light on a concept that many teach in a confusing manner.

for the first problem, you forgot to do a dotted line since it was y less than and no equal to, therefore, it will be incorrect if you do a full solid line and no open circles on the parabola.

Hi Mark! Good question: check out the second problem done in this video, it shows how to use the quadratic formula to get the solutions. The nifty graphing technique still applies, fortunately.

Dear Teacher, it has been a coincidence to see this. I beg your pardon but the thing you are explaining here is not fully correct. The first thing you wrote is a quadratic inequality in one unknown. And your solution is incorrect. Then you switched to quadtatic inqquality in two variable.Sketched it as a function and shaded.The shading is still incorrect.. 1) in quadratic Inequalities in one unknown there is no shading. 2) in quadratic Inequalities in two unknowns there is there is shading but the graph itself is supposed to be dashed because it is not included. Am i mistaken? Thnks

first off I love your profile pic! GO SHIN CHAN! and second to answer your question. the point system are points on a graph. for example (0,0) is a point on a graph. just as (1,3) is. X would equal 1 and Y would equal 3. hope that helps a little. if you need a better explanation let me know.

the key word here is OR that means it can be LESS THAN and it can be EQUAL TO something that is LESS is also LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO it just happens to be not EQUAL TO it actually cant be both because: 1) something cant be less than itself 2) the sign is LESS THAN *OR* EQUAL TO not LESS THAN *AND/OR* EQUAL TO
