@@lili13 It isn't arab! You were doing great until you mentioned arab. Arabs built nothing in Algeria as they were kicked out during the berber revolt. Algeria is overwhelmingly amazigh and not arab. You aren't half arab lol Go do a dna test and you'll see. Chaouis are amazighs.

Let me be honest, the guys selling Necklaces usually are annoying, you find them mostly near trains or Bus stations. If they see an easy looking visitor they'll keep following him to sell necklaces and rings, I think the Police thought that the Guy was annoying you so they came to check.

The story of the Carantika the famous street food.. gos like this ... There was a Spanish castle under siege... and they were running out of food supply.. the only thing left for them was chickpeas.. so the chef crashed the chickpeas and mixed it up with water and cooked it... The chef gave it to leader and he likes it, and he asked about the name of it the chef was eating a hot piece of "carantika" so he answered "caliente" which is hot in Spanish, the Spanish bring it with them, cuz Oran was occupied by the Spanish... And the name caliente has been changed by time to become Carantika😂

2:09 Spain and France were an occupation, the ottomans were our Allies against spain, Algeria asked them to collaborate and fight together against spain, you can look for it Google The Regency of Algiers, it was an independent Regency doesn't follow the ottoman political decisions, so only the army and ruler extended here and in Tunsia and Libya but for the cultural influence they took from Algeria the Zirids architecture and Algerian Naval Jabadouli ( called Zouave Jacket by Europeans)
