they dont need to. theres almost always someone DJing in vrchat. in fact, i think theres a 3, or even 4 day event going on right now a couple of my friends are DJing for, but of course, the more popular ones are on the weekends, one of them only being once a month. some have recreated some renowned clubs, others have created their own designs from scratch, many of which, are only really possible in a virtual environment, though the quest just isnt powerful enough and the vrchat devs arent smart enough to get everything working on quest standalone, but the vast majority of things are usable on quest

I wonder if there's any camera stability for the VR view. Watching this started to give me motion sickness. It's like wearing a GoPro with a headset mount.
@Mojaxx15 күн бұрын
One of the issues with showing this to people is that what you’re seeing doesn’t really represent the experience of using it. The view from inside the headset is nothing like as shaky as the videos look. There is a way to stabilise the recordings in there, but that reduces the field-of-view further, and that’s already far more restricted than what I was seeing, even in square video mode. As for motion sickness… I played the Batman game that comes with the Quest at the moment, where your character walks around, and it turns out I am VERY MUCH the ‘VR motion sickness’ guy. Felt sick as a dog. But in djay, no issues, even after extended sessions.

Besides streaming, quasi gaming or educating in DJing, I have a hard time seeing any game changing potential tbh. Even without all the limitations it seems gimmicky at best. Like the time that everybody needed 3D on their television, only to realize that it wasn't really worth all the hassle and inconveniences. Minority Report -style DJing isn't any more convenient and looks cool for 5 min before the crowd goes on their own business on the dancefloor. But maybe I have overlooked some scenarios where this could genuinely be changing the game of DJing. Still, in the future, people will still be going to public places to dance, to socialize, and hear an artist play music, like they have for centuries. Wearing some 3D gear won't fundamentally change that.

On paper it really looks amazing, but my real concern is the physicality: when using it as a game there is none so for me it's a no go, the same reason i hate the idea of touch screen mixing when using it with a controller yes you gain the physicality, but at that moment what's the point? just some fancy backgrounds? One scenario that will sell me is as you said with normal looking glasses, for browsing purposes, so I'm minimizing even further the time spent while browsing for files and I can see what's loaded and what not, but since the functionality is gimped by not ordering tracks by your criteria also makes me stay away for the time being. It's an interesting tech demo but tbf I don't really see the added value unless you are streaming on twitch or want to have your kids play next gen of DJ Hero

think it's getting more and more away from the DJing that we knew. At some point people will think, why am I paying money for someone who stands up on stage with VR glasses and waves his hands around? Is he even real or just an animation? It's becoming more and more unreal, which is why there are more and more parties without smartphones and DJs who play whole sets like they used to, i.e. for several hours. For example, last week was the 25th anniversary of the STEREO Club in Montreal. Danny Tenaglia played a 17.5 hour set, just like in the old days 😉😉😉

@FunctionGermany16 күн бұрын
