Same here 2024 and Ali Campbell the voice of UB40 has sold out Glasgow armadillo and his hometown of Birmingham twice sadly the first time was the in memory of the legend astro rip concert and this time was his hits tour his voice is fricking amazing but he still has his haters and his brother robin Campbell is on social media telling everyone who will listen to him things that should be private bumping his gums about how he sees more of Ali's kids than Ali Campbell does what the Frick he is there uncle and telling everyone that Ali Campbell didn't attend his parents funerals disgrace we only have robin's word on that but Ali Campbell and robin Campbell have been at other things together but didn't speak to each other what the Frick has that got to do with the fans nothing it's private family things but that's robin Campbell point scoring big love Ali Campbell and keep going your voice is fricking amazing and to sell out your hometown of Birmingham twice your doing great thanks for the music Ali love ya and rip astro and Brian Travers xxx

Had the pleasure of meeting that unbelievable voice on December 16 2013 in Goodge st London W1 he just came out of a meeting with Astro I first saw ub40 November 3 1980 16 years old brilliant I felt his pain on the split there’s an old Granada tv documentary on when they first started and in an old basement and getting the electricity from the flat above from a cable running down the wall all that hardship they went through sad one of the greatest voices to come out of this country I’m so glad I met him he’s definitely the voice but the magic is with 8 that’s how they started they brought a great vibe to reggae music 🙏

I've seen Ali Campbell with the original band members in Scotland and I was pregnant with my son but didn't know what a voice he has look at his guests he's been singing with Smokey Robinson Motown legend and pato banton then we have Lemar and bitty MacLean Kim Wilde and of course Beverly knight can robin say that he has sung with the best no you can't robin can you the choir fricking brilliant and the musicians cracking and to have sly and Robbie among the musicians and for them to fly from Jamaica just to be with Ali says something about there friendship and them being great human beings to go all that way for Ali Campbell with the pure class voice big love to everyone who was there xx

@cohenhaywood10 I've been trying to get to the bottom of that question for awhile and it's hard to confirm. Who exactly wrote the music/melody for UB40 and the lyrics? There's an Ali Campbell interview where he basically washes his hands of the lyrics, saying he's slow and let others handle. At the same time, he said he was the primary melody maker and also did most the mixing and production stuff with Robin. Elsewhere, thru other band members interviews, you can put together that Brian, Earl, and Robin contributed to songs. Maybe Astro, too. So, does Ali suffer now that he has to handle the lyrics? Was he truly the primary architect of the music? What did Astro and Mickey contribute? From what I understand, Astro and Mickey both have Caribbean roots or ancestry, so they were probably hearing reggae beats from the crib. Hard to believe they don't contribute a little.

I've been a fan of ub40 since they first started and the first time I seen them in Scotland with my brother and a few friends I was pregnant with my son but didn't know and as soon as they started singing red red wine and astro doing his toasting bit we were all singing and dancing and the smell of the hash was something else my brother and his pals had a few joints before we went I was high on the fumes and the music lol and now my son is 39yrs old loves Ali and loved astro toasting and singing rat in mi kitchen but what a great night and great memories then they played at the new year street party in Edinburgh fricking brilliant and Ali's voice to me is still the voice of ub40 sadly astro is nolonger with us but a brilliant voice as well and his toasting and dance moves brilliant great memories for us who were there both times big love Ali and fly high astro you were here legend xxx

Having been to about 12 UB40 concerts (Ali's my idol) and being a member of the Dep Posse back from '85. This is the best I've ever heard him sing. I'm dumbstruck at his brilliance all over again *sniff* Aleeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
