The real fight was perhaps the most brutal beat down I’ve ever seen. I truly believe Ali could have knocked Terrell out anytime he wanted to, but he chose to punch him relentlessly for fifteen rounds. Ali was criticized for that but I loved it. What a butt kicking he gave him. After the fight Terrell said calling him Clay was a mistake.

Ali never asked a judge who would have been a white man permission to change his name to what he wanted it to be. So legally, his name was Cassius M Clay. Tyrell was younger and taller and eroniously believed himself to be better. He just managed to antagonise The Champ. His career never recovered after this bout. He also learned Ali's name. Also, it's sad that Ali didn't know the original Cassius Marcellus Clay. The man was a southern abolitionist and had the kind of grit that Ali would have liked.
