Clicking that arrow for the ball corner to work?!! :O :O it brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for that epic tip Kevin!!
@kevinr62365 жыл бұрын
LOL. I about fell out of my chair when I first saw it. Typically the arrows in the corner only highlight errors(ie. Square tool). After all this time, I had no clue you could select them.

Kevin: Great work, it´s a pleasure see great Alias "masters" showing their way to go with it. Also you make it very easy to understand and watch. .. Please keep on like this. Good job.

Yeah. Barry Kimball is god. I've watched his ballcorner class A tutorial too. That's why i found the thumbnail of this video so familiar.

Great video Kevin. Typically I build things to theoreticals, and the same thing happens with CV's naturally 'falling into place'. Though this is a great time saver while still getting good results. Watching you brought back memories of the 'acb' @ CCS; as well as the 'Mactell' desktop I bought from you. (Many moons ago) :D
@tbrg19655 жыл бұрын
Also the tip about clicking the 'arrow' on screen to fix the problem . . . Mind BLOWN!!! LOL.

Wow. Many moons indeed. Great to hear from you. I always prefer the automated tools but as you know, having a strong understanding CV placement and flow is useful in so many situations.

In Siemens NX alot of the times you have to go full manual because the alignment and the studio surface tool simply isn't good enough (even though it has far more options that a normal 4 sided surface in Alias). But still... ICEM is the king at not having to tweak hundreds of parameters. Seriously in NX i have to do simple G2 3 sided corners manually!! The match edge function always f**s up
@kevinr62364 жыл бұрын
ICEM has some great blending and modeling features. Try to avoid 3(aka N sided)sided surfaces... If you find yourself with one, try the SURFACE> BOUNDRY SURFACES > MULTIBLEND. It will fill it in with 3 four sided surfaces.
@chronokoks4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinr6236 hi I didn't mean 3 sided surfaces but a classic box class a corner blend (Without equal setbacks) :)

Big Thanks Kevin! Radii is something I struggle through sometimes. Your video shows a great artistic philosophy on how to understand CV structures. You're right, Barry Kimball's videos are always Alias transcendent. I usually have to watch them several times to get all the knowledge. Is your class online?
@kevinr62364 жыл бұрын
Filleting is always tough to really control the highlights and achieve the desired continuity. I model in good, better and best modes. Each iteration and the closer I get to my part release deadline, the more controlled my CVs and lay outs get. First few rounds, they might only be positional at best. I really need to get an online class together. I was teaching onsite courses for a while but not able to continue with my new job. Thanks for watching! Keep Surfin'

Hello, I have seen your video. I am quite experienced in the chamfer of ALIAS. I am drawing Tyres. The chamfer process is very good. Can you ask me how to perfect or make a video tutorial?
@kevinr62365 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching . You should definitely make a chamfer video!
@@kevinr6236 Haha, translation error, I want to ask how to do some irregular chamfering. I think the chamfer of alias is very difficult to handle.

I have a student version but I want to have the full license to use it commercially, but it’s really expensive. Can I cooperate with someone and get the full license? Do you have any tips? Can you help me with that ?
@kevinr62365 жыл бұрын
Working directly for a company that uses the software is best way. If your independent, it's very expensive. I work for a variety of contract suppliers and automotive companies that provide the software. I find 3d modeling cars to be incredibly full filling, the pay can be awesome and I'm always working on the next gen product. It's well worth the effort!

- What curvature do you use for align? - Yes
@kevinr62365 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the Ball corner tool or the Align tool? For this example the Ball corner and Align were set to TANGENT or G1. If I was looking for Curvature continuity, I would select Curvature or G2.
