Stop comparing alice cooper to rob zombie, marillyn manson ,kiss, korn, etc, etc. He was not influenced by any of them. Without alice cooper none of them would exist.

Glad you both reacted to this song, it doesn't seem to get quite as much attention as some of Alice's other songs. Allow me to provide some explanation on the video itself. While the song is the studio recorded version the video isn't the "official" music video for it. It's actually from a rare made for tv special "The Nightmare" (1975) which features all of the songs from the Welcome to My Nightmare album. It also features Vincent Price. Some of the songs were modified for it since it was going to be aired on television, Only Women Bleed was one of them. That's why it doesn't quite match up with the audio. If you get the chance I'd highly recommend checking the special out. It's quite a wild and interesting story told through Alice Cooper's songs. It would very cool if you decided to react to it as well. kzbin.info/aero/PLhkcPgNyqpi3zyBLNvyqkfT7p6boYkTJY (The last 4 videos in this playlist aren't from The Nightmare, but a different live performance.)

You two really ought to listen to the Ballad of Dwight Fry for more of a screaming Alice; his Vengeance Is Mine might suit the heavier tastes you have, too. Just a note about the dancers here: Alice married a professional ballerina, and I know she performed on tour with his Welcome to My Nightmare album. I'd bet money she was the one most often seen in this video during the slow motion sequences.

Great Alice Cooper song, such a perfect example of how people can get hung up on gimmicks and images and miss the music. I think a lot of people would be surprised at the orchestration in some of his early material. Alice surrounded himself with talented studio musicians and it shows. When I was young a friend and I were talking about Alice Cooper with his sister in the room. The song title came up, she overheard and screamed, " Ewww, that's disgusting!" We laughed and played it for her and she quickly got the meaning and admitted, " Ok, I like that one, but the title is still gross!!!" We laughed our heads off, but of course understood what she meant. Oh Alice you little instigator! Lol

Back in the day bands had to have at least one song on the album that could be released as a single to get radio airplay. That was advertising that their was a new album out and give the dj an opportunity to mention that the band was coming to town on such & such a date.

If you have only heard this one and "School´s out" you should definitely listen to many more songs, especially since Alice Cooper has so much variety. There are so many songs i would recommend, but maybe I would especially start with some of the more creepy songs like "I love the dead", "Steven" or ""Ballad of Dwight Frye" (especially the live version) :)

This song about spousal abuse was groundbreaking. Nobody in the 70's was talking about it. Also, he married one of the dancers from that tour. Still married today. He has a couple of other ballads that hit home. How You Gonna See Me Now is about him coming out of rehab and worried that his wife will see him differently because she has never known him sober.

Kinda refreshing to see this video judged with an open mind, back in the day it was judged kinda harshly, mostly by women either thinking it was condoning violence towards women (in my eyes it wasn't, to me he's actually on womens side singing about how jacked up male violence against women is) and even seen a few instances where women didn't like it because they thought that it was makin fun of a womans "time of the month" like i said refreshing to see this song NOT taken out of context & taken the way it was meant to be took.

This and Poison are 2 of their most powerful, deep and personal songs. Cooper was the original makeup shock stage performance. He inspired KISS, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Maddison and countless more from punk to metal bands. This song was banned from a lot of radio stations because station managers thought this was about mensural cycles and not a PSA for domestic violence. The live performance is actually way better.

Alice is a master of his craft. This song, about wife beating, was never done in the 70s. It as actually banned from the radio as it was thought that, "Only women bleed" was about periods. You really should listen to more of his stuff as he's a hell of a mot more than School's Out.

Try this one. Beasto Blanco is a newer band formed by Chuck Garric (Alice's bassist the past 20 years). Alice Cooper's daughter Calico Cooper is in the band as well, and she sings this track. I know I'm late to the ballgame here, but I wanted to put my 2 cents in anyways as an Alice fan. This is part of what I like to call Alice's Anti Domestic Abuse Trilogy. The other two songs being Take It Like A Woman and Every Woman Has A Name which both came along years later. These are deep and meaningful songs that show Alice's morality that he puts into his showmanship almost every time.

Great reaction as always! 😊👍 This is one of those where I requested it as a prelude to something else that I’ll be interested to see. 😉😊 I give artists passes on video choices made by directors which are often overdone, but are not the fault of the band. A good example is the video of Choke recently by The Warning, who I love, but the director shot a video that was one third shots of an actress swimming around underwater, so we see that instead of Dany singing. Frustrating!
