I mean it’s one of their better known ones for a reason. Just cause it’s a “hit” doesn’t mean it should be deemed as an uncool favourite track. AICs hits to me deserve every bit of popularity and there isn’t one that I would say isn’t quintessential. I mean just imagine having your back catalogue consist of giants like Them bones, would? Man in the box etc. That being said some of their lesser known songs are just as phenomenal. Astounding musicians.

hellomynameisdoom Layne wrote more than 10%. He wrote anywhere from 25%-45% of their lyrics. I know people wanna give jerry credit because he does so much for the band but sometimes ppl give a little too much credit and make it seem like Layne did nothing but sing. @@hellomynameisdoom8208 disagree brother, you can actually feel much more SOULNESS coming from Layne than Jerry. Jerry is more tecnical/smart piece of the band. Layne was full emotion, all about feelings and expressing those feeling through his singing. Afterall, he is the one who suffered and died from those feelings.
@hellomynameisdoom82084 жыл бұрын
@@Kamelstreet I can feel the soulness and feelings coming out of Jerry when Jerry sang and played, why cant jerry have soul and depth and feelin? Jerry was the driving force behind this band , layne was the cherry on top. They both needed each other they fed off eachother . Layne was absolutely a voice that cant be replicated and had depth but they both had soul and Jerry definitely struggled with drugs and alcohol , he a recovering alcoholic/addict . It's not a competition between the two . Very subjective though.

@Danny Larry Indeed. I became aware of both books reputation after all this decade. I just read some pages of De Sola's. And if I'm not mistaken in those pages is where i found a good research of "Forty years of hate". The project Layne worked while early AIC was happening. "It's coming after", "Party people" I assume you are familiar with those. Ron Holt explains it and mentioned Jerry was involved as well at some point which Jerry himself doesn' t mention in Lars' radio show at the BBC. Maybe it has to do with the origin of "Man in the box" which apparently sounds a lot like one of Holt's tunes for the project. A real revelation.
