He was in a very good shape at this point, despite his heavy heroin using between half '91 and all '92. His body was very strong, but Layne wasted everything :( if only he could stopped during these times (early '93) he would be still with us!
@bradsully66202 жыл бұрын
@@manuredrum4754 according to Mark lanegan who's band the screaming trees were opening up for aic on this tour he and layne were strung out on this tour. He talked about in his book that he and layne had to score in every city to keep the dope sickness away. They couldn't bring dope with them because of all the border crossings. So according to a guy who was there he wasn't sober at all, he was on heroin the whole European leg of the tour.
@manuredrum47542 жыл бұрын
@@bradsully6620 that's interesting. Anyway in this period Layne's voice was recovering, and was a bit darker than the facelift era, but always badass. What a waste of talent.

Yes, because blowing out the monitors with your scream wouldn't sound good in a recording mix. Lol. But live it sounds cool.

My neck hairs stand on end when he gets to that part "The bullet screams to me from somewhere!" I love this song, I love his voice, gone too soon. Grunge forever

this is an insane performance. layne seemed to be enjoying himself as well as pushing himself a bit - that roar in the second chorus, when he leaps into it, and then looks toward jerry like he surprised himself. nobody ever gives/gave me chills like layne.

@@nicbtw6062 heroin doesn't make you sound that good. he was a choir boy during his childhood I think, that's why he was the best singer in grunge. Junkhead was about his addicton, and his voice during the Dirt era was so angelic you could feel a bit of the pain from his addiction in his voice. By 1996 he was so banged up he could barely stand up during the last four Alice shows and Jerry was looking over at Layne periodically to make sure he wasn't gonna pass out on them bc he was pretty sick. And it's sad to think no one really heard from him until 1999. He sang about his addiction, he sang his pain out. He didn't do heroin because it made him sing well.

You couldn't find THE best singer ever, you'd spend years and never find them. In my eyes, Layne was the best at what he did, and he really did move every single one of his fans, his voice shows a certain uniqueness to it, you can feel the pain in it. Jerry Cantrell and Layne were the band leaders, but it isn't AiC without Layne, just like it wouldn't be without Jerry.

Take all your albums, all your tapes and all your CDs and burn them. I remember visiting my brother at U of W in 92 and getting to see Alice in Chains in a small club in Seattle with maybe 100 people in it. Totally feel for you guys that were born that year or later and missed out on this genre of music. But don't feel bad, I always felt I missed out on Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. in their hey days by being born a few years too late. Next gen will be pissed they missed out on My Chemical Romance and Hoobastank etc.

@elanore5521 I believe he started doing drugs mainly because he was just curious. Hence the lyrics "Used to be... curious, now the shit's... sustenance." But also because of everything that happened with his father. He was told that he was dead when he was really just a drug addict off doing his own thing somewhere. Then they started shooting together...ect. I don't think it has anything to do with being hyperactive/bipolar. Plus, don't you think if that were the case he would have stuck to weed
