It kind of blows me away that after AIC finished their set, the curtain behind Sean would drop, the stage would be twice as deep, and 4 aging dudes in makeup would walk on (or probably be lowered on on wires) and call themselves the headliners over this.
@johangambleputty76583 жыл бұрын
But, having done shows like this, it's an awesome place for the drummer to be. On big stages, I was always in the back, on a big drum riser. Sure, I would have a great monitor system, and could hear the band fine, but... Good live drummers work off the energy of the crowd, we take it in, and throw it back at them. And getting to set up closer to the crowd, and your band members, makes for a more powerful show. The energy is just that much more powerful and raw. In fact, one of my favorite shows was as an opener at a venue I had played at numerous times, but setting up that much closer to the crowd made for a great show, unforgettable!

layne fucking killed this. the fact that he gave it his all and almost died after this performance from an od is a testament to his artistry and dedication to the people there. some people argue that he doesn’t sound “as good” as he did from 1988-1993…no shit sherlock, crack and heroin were wreaking havoc on his health-the fact that he still sounds this powerful even when he’s sick as hell is insanity and places him up with the greats like freddie mercury, dio, and chris cornell. no one sings like him anymore and no one ever will. rest in peace, layne. 🤍

Anyone could write this (ghostsofutopija) or (da-babydumb?) but nobody ever had or did, except for AIC. Cantrell gets most of the credit, deservedly so, minus the drums and vocal talent he was fortunate enough to have around him. Why didn't anyone see how crucial Layne was to the music/art world, much less any project he took part in?! A constant intervention by the 'brilliant' Cantrell should've been the his focus, rather than writing songs that documented the downfall of the most talented individual his claim to fame ever had. Jerry got bitter and couldn't understand being the elite that he is, and cashed in on his 'homie's' addiction, rather than saving him. Even continued writing lyrics to prove he saw what was coming, what was obvious. It became not intriguing anymore, but rather like dafuq?!? You don't give a shit or was the plan you and Staley had was to ride til he dies?! Maybe so, and if not Cantrell, you suck as a human being.

Des Harris this statement of Layne was fake. He never said these things about the band, it was a fake interview by some “journalist”. His family denied it, he never talked to that woman. Another thing Layne didn’t die because of his lost love, he had broke up years before and also when he overdosed after this show his ex gf was still alive. People need to stop romanticizing his demise, it’s not Romeo and Juliet. Actually he had to cut the support and broke up with her to try to be clean, as she was not helping too. Thing is, Layne had a lot of people around him enabling his addiction, and a lot of people taking advantage of his money and fame to be supplied by drugs, and for this it was hard for him to escape this spider web...He tried 13 times...and right before his passing he was making new music and was going to collaborate with some artists...so he didn’t give up life, he just couldn’t get out of the hands of addiction...he just accepted that and was trying to live like a functional addict...I think the fight with Starr was the last straw, he didn’t want people to give opinion about his life or try to control it...and maybe he went too far that day, his body didn’t handle.
