Alice: Madness Returns has always been inspirational to be. I've been mentally and emotionally abused in a similar way she has, and I lost my own train of reality, causing me to become delusional and pretty much "mad" like she was. She fought so hard to find herself again, to find her peace, so she can finally reconnect herself with both reality and her own maddening past. She's inspired me to move forward from many of those memories; however, some of them still haunt me to this day, but at least I've practically reconnected with reality again.

This song is lovely. A lot of people have awesome theories about this level and how it's some sort of "calm before the storm" and it's so awesome how everyone has a personal interpretation. I love reading theories. One thing is bothering me though. Why does everyone think the Red Queen is Lizzie?! The official art book confirms it's Alice when she was a child. It's... it's just not Lizzie! LOL! Where did this even come from?

Canonically, it's Alice's own dark side. (Listen carefully in what the Cheshire Cat says, he explains it all in riddle form.) She supposedly was supposed to accept it as part of her own self and not personify it to give it its own power by taking up the crown herself, but she refused, being frightened of it and what it would mean for her. She didn't want to be a leader or a hero. She wanted to fade... which led to all her troubles in Madness Returns.

Hm...This song is giving me some sort of thought of, what if Wonderland is trying to warn Alice that she's in the calm before the storm? That, or something in reality has gone horridly wrong yet that madness within reality transferred to Wonderland is a state of unnerving calm. A serene state that only lasts for a temporary time, be it a second, minute, hour, day, month, or year. The moment she leaves the calm, Hell will once more claim her mind, and drag her deeper into the depths of the madness named; Wonderland.

I made two comments on this two years ago. Looking back at both of them now, I miss those times. I was 14 back then, now I am 16. Had these repeating chimes and chords in my head for days, no idea why, couldn't remember what the hell it was from. All I could be certain of was that it was a from a videogame I'd played about 10 or so years back, it was near the end of the game, and it was was high in the sky, full of clouds. Eventually had to sit there and try to remember every game I played in that time period to try and figureout where the sound I was hearing in my head was coming from. I went through so many options, drawing a blank. The second I thought of Alice, I instantly knew that was it.

This is strange, but when I reached this part of the game, something inside me just _broke free,_ and a swirl of powerful emotions pervaded my entire being, overtaking me completely. For a moment, there was nothing in my perceived existence but this - platforming the flying cards, just jumping in a carefree manner, feeling truly free for the first time in a very long time. It was as if I was temporarily emancipated from my default state of crushing anxiety, my deep-seated subconscious sense of inferiority that comes with being autistic, and was fully embraced by the most loving person in the world; though merely a video game in actuality, the difference was particularly eroded for that moment. Thank you to the developers of this game for providing me this moment. Good game.

I love American McGee for his twisted versions of our favorite fairy tales. Madness Returns will forever be in my heart as one of my favorite games. Especially because of the soundtrack. American McGee was working on his twisted version of the Wizard of Oz but it got cancelled. Todd McFarland has some statuettes made of how the twisted characters looked.

in the first gam, it was stated the Queen is a manifestation of alice's guilt, since she feels guilty of herself, the queen ,might represent alice by the age the conflagration happened, but in that stage, alice is also closer to the final conclusion and missing her sister Lizzie, to the point she says "ow my dear Lizzie" to the queen during the infernal train cutscenes. So the queen might be a mix of Alice and Elizabeth Liddel.

I think that incident on the Infernal Train is what really gets ppl to believe that the Queen is Alice's manifestation of Lizzie. It really just seems like Alice is calling her name is despair rather than calling the Queen by Lizzie's name. idk. Maybe you're right. The queen is Alice's younger self. Look at the family photo of Alice's family (had the designer wanted to make the queen look like Lizzie, it wouldn't be hard to notice). Then look at the portrait of the queen when you enter the castle. The queen takes on the appearance of young Alice. For what reason? I'm not sure. Maybe it has something to do with Alice's no longer existent innocence.
