How do you gain motivation to put in so much work turn an idea into a reality? You can empathize with her without justifying her actions or seeing her as healthy. She just lost her entire family in less than 24 hours, basically out of her control. She “snapped”. I learned about your channel from misteryforse. I rarely leave comments on the work of foreign authors, but given the beaten templates and unique presentation, I want to note that the feeling that the author tried to evoke (namely, disgust due to the uncanny valley effect) fits very organically into the plot itself and gives it a certain zest. For the way the author uses a small resource of graphics and creates its synergy with the script - great respect However, I would like to touch on the plot itself. And honestly, I am upset that everything turned out so simple. In the first part, there was some mystery and a hint at various processes that sometimes occur in not very healthy families. The explanation, of course, tries to justify the mother and show her as an innocent victim of circumstances. This is what I liked about this part. To make the mother more positive than she is. Perhaps it was the right decision to sacrifice the mystery of your work for the benefit of the development of the hero. However, I completely and utterly deny that this hero was at least sometimes "good". Not at all, everything from beginning to end is a manifestation of naked narcissism. She loved her daughter exclusively as an extension of herself, and not as a separate person. That is why her self-deception succeeded and she managed to believe that this strange girl was her daughter. The author showed this well, demonstrating her behavior in the car. The manic element appears almost immediately. As soon as the girl says "Phoebe", the mother immediately stops and breaks down. "Something got out of control!" And then the mother simply dissolves in her own psychological problems. She does not care about the fate of her daughter in principle. She begins to pity and deceive herself in order to somehow compensate for the damage received as a result of betrayal and injury to her daughter. This is shown in the scene with the still alive Alice, whom the mother puts to bed, as if thinking that she has died and convincing herself that the girl is alive. After all, it is easier to pity yourself and hate your husband? Because I'm a poor mother whose child was killed and I'm just trying to make up for that loss, thinking that my girl is alive. Meanwhile, the only scene that I don't like appears. Namely, Phoebe's parents and what she did to them. It's all somehow too far-fetched. She just came, head over heels. Personally, I think it would have been enough to show her aggressively feeding them pie, expressing passive aggression and scaring them. That way, her descent into madness would have been more organic. And so, my praise for the plot and especially the details, some of which I would like to draw attention to further: The scene with the bus is just a diamond. So organically show the fate of Phoebe, and how this same bus will affect her life in the future - excellent. It is also worth paying attention to the fact that the series was posted exactly 19 years after the events that took place, on August 9, 2024. Considering that the plot is tied to September and the beginning of the school year, you really understand how thoughtfully the author approached his work. And to talk about the music of the 1950s, the lyrics of which say "If you lost a person, you can find another" - it's amazing. The wedding took place in 1994, and therefore Alice was born immediately after the marriage. This indicates that they had no problems with childbearing, and therefore the unwillingness to have children could have become a barrier (considering that the father's mistress talks about children as a project), this unwillingness was on the part of the mother. This signals to us that there have been problems in the marriage for a long time (and the very fact of having a mistress Lol signals this). Also, the choice of costumes seemed extremely interesting. At the beginning, the heroine is dressed in black, which should symbolize her dark side. But everything is exactly the opposite. It is at night that she shows her best qualities, and it is while wearing dark clothes that she remains innocent. In the very first scene, where she is in white, she cold-bloodedly kills a person (indirectly - three). The author apparently wanted to show and emphasize the meaning of the entire plot of "Not Everything Is So Clear", which he did brilliantly. The characteristic bruises under the mother's eyes show that she has completely driven herself to despair in an attempt to please her husband and "save" the marriage. This shows that her perception of the world is exactly the same as that of women in the 1960s (Husband is the foundation, wife is a gadget). It follows that her mother was as domineering as she is, and therefore she wants to be like her mother in everything. But again, she does not realize that it is not her husband's figure that does not suit her (his mistress has a worse one), but, apparently, his character. I did not quite understand why the phases of the moon changed so chaotically (full at the beginning, almost a crescent in the middle), and this was emphasized. But I think that such a painstaking person would definitely have put some meaning into this, and this is not an inaccuracy. The amount of eggs she gives, as far as I understand, is proportional to the degree of her awareness. The fewer eggs - the less sane person, and more maniac. The way she singles out "MOM Phoebe?", which shows the full extent of how much the girl is essentially a stranger to her. And of course the TV during the "sleepover", the program of which completely embodies the heroine. It seems to be a kind and cheerful dance, but sometimes frames of red eyes flash. The mention of Heather's friend at the beginning and her appearance in the list of Alice's classmates. Although again, I did not understand the moment with Phoeby T in the magazine, and later with Phoeby Hill in the wanted list. But perhaps these are the peculiarities of American society (double names, etc.), which I do not quite know. And a great many more moments that other people have noticed before me. I am completely satisfied with this picture, and it is precisely its specificity that simultaneously repels and arouses interest. Therefore, I sincerely wish the author not to lose this rare element and innovation, but to increase it and use it in even higher quality pictures, which he should certainly create. Thank you.

She tried... 7:48 wanted to do what she could with what she had. I mean, 13:45 "Alice has never missed a day before". Mother was not a roll model, but was a functional mom, which is not enough when talking about raising children, but she was trying to keep the divorce thing down, and then everything went to sh*t. Makes me feel empathy, but also reaffirms my position of "heal from yourself, before children have to heal from you". The way both, David and Mother, didn't notice Alice arriving home (4:56), and the kid just ignoring "another fight/discussion between mom and dad"(5:03), says much about how the family works, not to mention how self-centred they are, didn't care about each other at all. They seem to react just when something extraordinary or extreme happens, like dad leaving the house with another woman (5:40), or Alice falling from the slide (11:07), or not hearing from your daughter FOR MONTHS (22:34). 14:06, the way she refuses to take Alice to the hospital after the accident shows how people is raised to become "just part of the function". They live in autopilot (1:58), traumatized (15:04), caring just about themselves and their own benefit to make things "easier" (6:58) and keep appearances (14:31). They just become useless. She could have saved Alice, but it means she have to admit she failed (10:52), not capable to even take care of her daughter (11:27) or keep a husband (0:47), it's like your brain saying "the show must go on!", you just do stupidly horrible things (17:35) to avoid reviving a trauma. I'm really in love how everything is done, the characters psychology, the patterns people tend to follow, the stereotypes in society, you do such beautiful work ✨

just finished both mother and alice and holy crap this deserves more attention😭 it breaks my heart to see how mother was trying to cope up with her grief and unable to accept her daughters death and how she actually loved her daughter

Thank you for saying that! I always love when people empathize with mother instead of bash her because that means she’s being seen as a person, or at least as a deep character with relatable or complex feelings!

I grew up without a mother, but every time I get to see an art piece about a mother-daughter relationship, it always gets me. I love the portrayal of mental illness and the decline to insanity, I knew from the start that she was once a good and loving mother from the way she went back to that basement to say sorry to "Alice". She genuinely doesn't mean it, but her mental state and emotions take control the majority of the time. I catched on IMMEDIATELY when I saw the real Alice and Pheobe, It's sad she went through so much but it's also heartbreaking that others have to deal with her way of unhealthy coping.

These are amazing. The deep, dark emotions you convey with all those tiny, subtle facial tics.... *chef's kiss* Love it.
