Dave's vocal is still to this day so criminally underappreciated in my opinion. Everyone praises Clarke's or Gore's songwriting, Wilder's technnical skills, Fletch's dancing 😁, but so rarely people mention David's otherworldly singing skills, let alone him being one of the greatest entertainers in music's history along with Mick, Freddie and Elvis.

That's funny man, I've done that with a few groups I like before. Most recently ACDC, been into them for damn near 20 years and completely skipped over the whole Powerage album. Was fun to find it finally.

@@steveninverse9579 I hear ya. I actually do like when I find songs like this that I never heard. Brings me back to my youth! I looked this song up and one of the reason's I haven't heard it was because it never went to a recorded studio, (at least that is what I think I read).

I think Vince was fantastic. He wrote great and extremely catchy songs, he played the keyboard superbly, and he even sang backing vocals on several tracks here.

Well, Vince did start Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and Erasure, so undoubtedly there is something to this guy and his music.

Actually I never liked his tracks for Depeche except maybe Photographic and Ice Machine. His songs dont work well with Dave, they however then did with Alison and Andy Bell. His keyboard play is good, but not outstanding compared to many others.

While looking through setlist.com I was really surprised to see that they played "Photographic" as recently as 2010! Yes, they definitely should be playing stuff from 1981 & 1982. Some tracks from A Broken Frame would sound sooooo good live now.
@NOWtheband4 жыл бұрын
@@afflicta - I totally agree! It's also GREAT to hear them without David shouting "Come on!" or "Yeah" during every song! It was kind-of ok when there was a little bit of guitar or when Alan played live-drums on a song or two but now they have guitar & live-drums on almost every track throughout their concerts. Guitars & live-drums have "normalised" them. The same happened when Cocteau Twins replaced their drum machine with a live drummer.
@danpiedra39103 жыл бұрын
Great comments - for whatever reason they have spotted a rock band look and feel now which to me detracts from who they were from 1981-2000. The reality is rust most of their audience at their shoes wants to hear music from that period. Today's sites for DM should be 80% content from 1981-90's and 20% for their newer stuff which to be honest is filler.
@tyreemixer10 жыл бұрын
For this timeframe the band were in , their live shows were about as tight as could be in that they had just finished recording Speak & Spell around Oct. of '81 so the studio time they had shows in this recording . At the end of this " tour " sometime in Dec. of '81 Vince Clark would be gone and shows in jan. of '82 and onwards started to include tracks from A Broken Frame & their synths were sounding like something you'd hear at a carnival . Still an awesome set . Great wardrobe . My 2 cents
