Hi Alice, I've been to Paris multiple times and although there are some very well dressed ladies out there, the vast majority do not wear designer brands and are rich. So when you say Parisiens, it sounds as if the entire population of Paris, are top rich and sophisticated. It is not the case! I found that people in Milan and Florence actually dress much better than people in Paris and as well are not so rude and snobby!

Tourists don't visit Paris for the French people. That's for sure. They tend to think that people want to look "Parisian" or "French" when shopping but people just want to buy what works for them back in their hometown. Yes, rude & snobby is true.

mmm...nice video summarizing Parisian opinion. As a German Indian living 3 hrs frm Paris, I visit Paris frequently and I am yet to see fashionable people the way KZbin videos portray. They are just like us here in Germany. Very low key and in fact not well dressed enough except for the tiktokers, youtubers and instagrammers near touristy spots. The general mass dress to kinda to blend in with the industrial lifestyle and weather. Chanel and Dior are quite boring and cater to boring chicness that some of us seek. But I do love Gucci and Versace for the loudness and vibrance. These brands depict more of Southern European culture which is usually colorful. Think of Sicily and Amalfi beaches and their weather and then think of Gucci and Versace. It will resonate then. All these brands are good and chic and it depends in the end on how we carry them.
@aesinam
@aesinam 27 күн бұрын
The choice or designer is largely based on your own cultural preferences as well. As someone with an Indian background of course it's more likely you like vibrance and colourful as many Africans would (I'm Ghanaian). Of course there'll always be exceptions but it's true

For your information, Ladurée macarons are manufactured in Switzerland, in the Gruyère region, which is not really outsourcing to a cheap labour country. Anyway, I'm a Parisian, and, yes, I buy macarons at Ladurée from time to time. They are still among the best in Paris, even if I prefer Sadaharu Aoki's macaron.

It is funny because both have the same standards for quality, workmanship and luxury. I just spent a month in Salerno, Italy and I saw a lot of very well dressed and elegant women and none had logos plastered all overthemselves. The only time I wore a brand was when Gloria Vanderbilt came out with jeans in the 80's and they were the ones that fit me best. I had one, ONE pair.

Henri Bendel is older than Chanel and their quality was superior, so instead of making them big, fellow Ameicans destroyed them. What other example : Victoria Secrets?! The entier planet was itching to get Victoria Secrets and suddenly they become very expensive. Now you enter a VS store , it is worse than Walmart. Kate Spade ?! Selling plasticoliscious thingies. Ralph Lauren having the quality of H&M. Even Starbucks is a joke. Greed is what happened.

hello thanks for your comment. yes about goyard that's why I said that I prefer Faure le Page over Goyard because it's more edgy. although parisian wear Goyard also and they like it. Concerning monogram, there is a huge difference in the design between LV and FLP and Goyard. There is no brand logo all over the bags on Faure le Page and goyard while the logo is omnipresent on LV. When I say monogram I mean more logo. If there is a logo on Faure le Page it is very discreet. Nothing to compare with LV

I can't handle any logos/branding whatsoever. I used to love the Isabel Marant Nessah bags until they started plastering her name on the straps. So tacky! @@Aliceinparisofficial I understand that those two are special heritage brands. And while I don't usually like branding, the Faure le Page print in particular is very nice. I love how yours has the holster! The only logos I don't mind and actually like are the Fred Perry laurel wreath and the Mulberry tree. For Mulberry I prefer the more understated bags such as the first iteration of the Bryn (it has a '60s mod feel) - not the more recent one with less nice handle) and the Suffolk. I really like Clare V bags because they don't have any branding and the leather is supple for the price point.

Saying that Gucci is cheap is an insult. By the way Italian women and men with taste will buy Gucci,you might not like some products but this brand is luxury personified. In general the best craftmanship in fashion and everything else is made in Italy. I agree with the fact that showing logos is tacky but I know many Parisians who still do that and do not care,I live in Milan and travel to Paris often for work and true Parisians do not follow rules they just dress like they want to dress. Hello thanks for your comment. “Made in Italy” today has nothing to do with the handmade in Italy 20 years ago. It is made in Eastern country or Romanian people in Italy in cheap factories. I loved vintage Gucci and Gianni Versace but 20 years ago. Like many mainstream “luxury” brands today, nothing is handmade like it used to be. People are simply not aware of what they are buying. I am not speaking for myself only. I live in Paris, if you ask in the streets to a Parisian, you will get the same answer. I love Italian style usually but the old vibe, meaning sartorial and suits.

My daughter loves the LV canvas. I explained to her it is made the same way my picnic table cloth is- cotton fabric with a design stamped on it then covered with a polyvinyl coating. Then you pay thousands of dollars for that with a thin, cheap leather trim. Basically, that’s what all canvas bags are made of no matter what the brand is. Silly to pay all that money for any of them.

I agreed with everything you said here and I live in Canada. I’ve always felt people who purchased items that were monogrammed were buying these items more to show off how much they paid for an item instead of the the true quality behind their purchase. Also I work in the wine industry and Moët & Chandon is known to use much more pesticides in their vineyards to produce higher yields which in turn produces lower quality products with exceptions such as their higher end cuvées. I’ll take Bollinger, Taittinger, Pol Roger any day before the mass produced Moët & Chandon.

LV bags seem to only get used in spring or early summer, rest of the year you never see people carrying it much in London. The Faure bags with the pistol motif is not for me, I'm afraid, they look kitch. It isn't just about quality, it's also about the styling which looks tacky. I even bleach it :))))))))))))))))). I don't think it is a downfall because of that quality and trend reason.: ))) as a Parisian I am sure you never heard of a continent called CHINA. Have you ever noticed how many people in china buy LV, Dior, Gucci, Hermes as an investment or retail to other smaller countries? : )))))))))))) Most of the sale revenue comes from China because they hold a major percentage of revenue in every category due to high popularity.

Maybe you should’ve based this video on ‘your personal’ preferences. No one would be mad at this, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but you made it sound factual as opposed to personal. 🫶

I was surprised to find out that Ladurée is manufactured outside France but that doesn’t change my love for Ladurée. Personally I think the meringue part is just another level compared to all other brands. The fact that it’s industrialized even amazes me as it just explains how good the quality control is. I am definitely not a parisien, but based on my experience living in Paris for a few years, the only Ladurée boutique requires queuing is the one at Champs-Élysées and same for Pierre Hermès at Champs-Élysées. To me they’re very similar and I doubt that Pierre Hermès is still marketing themselves as just a bakery and not a brand(like you can see both outside of France and you tell me that’s not branding 🙃)? Of course it’s all down to preference, so try both! Decide what you like and buy what you like. 🙂

As someone who worked in the garment industry, I find it interesting that many people believe that if products are manufactured in a certain country(usually European) that it indicates quality. This is absolutely incorrect. Quality of a garment or shoes is dependent on quality fabric/leather and skilled workmanship. Italians or French are not more skilled by nature of their birth. It is up to the brand to determine if a product is up to their quality standard.

What’s your point at 9:49 saying that Gucci also makes their products in Japan? The craftsmanship ship here is amazing (I live in Japan) and this is one of the most advanced countries in the world with probably a higher overall standard for quality in so many aspects of life. Saying something isn’t made in Europe anymore implies that the quality is lower, but come on, if the products are being made in Japan then the quality would be equal (if not even better). @@crewlworld. I agree. Chanel is not exclusive anymore. It’s also mass produced for ridiculous prices and quality is poor. And all the bags look the same year after year, unless you purchase something very unusual. Otherwise, Not exquisite in my eyes. I’ve kept a few unusual older Chanel bags, when Karl was alive, but sold a few others.

I love your video. Just wanted to make a point about Goyard. It is privately owned, not by LVMH. That said, LVMH owns Moynat, instead. I commend you on your open passion about quality over mass market. Greetings from Australia. x

Nothing listed in this video could be called "edgy". Also, anyone with actual style doesn't consider what others will think of their bag, clothes, shoes etc. That's the opposite of edgy ,cool, stylish
