+Maha Shamrani I think it is a weinstein strategy to give her better chance to win. For golden globes she was nominated for leading, but the competition is too hard agains true leading role like Joy for Jennifer Lawrence. In supporting actress, she becomes clearcly a true challenger to Kate Winslet and there is good hopes that she will win the oscar. The SAG will be a good indicator to know.

Mara and Vikander are leads TWC and Focus put in Supporting to bilk more nominations instead of having Mara cancel Blanchett out and Vikander to not take the spotlight away from Redmayne (which happened regardless).

To call Alicia Vikander a "supporting actress" is highly unjustifiable - she was a LEAD character in this film. She was incredibly essential to the story, and her performance was simply stupendous and riveting. I found her portrayal as Gurda simply stellar, and should be likened to how Helen Mirren was (really) the star of Hitchcock (2012). It was a love story between two persons, and to call Gurda the "supporting character" simply says a lot about how we view relationships and the supposed stereotypical view we have on the "women's" part in it. Alicia, I applaud your performance truly! You blew my mind in Ex-Machina, and you took me through an emotional journey with you with The Danish Girl. Well done!

Very sweet and desirable lady. She's very nervous but who wouldn't. She 's only 28 I thinks. I am afraid that she's getting "hollywood-ized" too soon. To much exposure to the usual Hollywood standardizing star machine. The best thing she has for her, beside her obvious talent and beauty is her natural and attractive personality. I hope they don't destroy that and she pick the right movies for her. Best luck girl !

Alicia doesn't come across as genuine or too brainy. She's trying hard to impress and be likeable, never a good thing. And then I also hate this silly tricks they are using, creating controversy around her skin to keep people guessing and interested. What's the rush? An actor gets more respect if they grow in people's minds naturally not with aggressive marketing campaigns.
