The trope of "You shouldn't suffer here, let me take you in" isn't so much a "tv or anime trope" as it is legitimately one of the ways that yakuza, gangs, and other organized crime groups come together. And it's a pretty prevalent theme among the villains in MHA. It's why many have such extreme loyalty to one another. Down-on-their-luck people with shitty lives and experiences, who have been ostracized by the world around them, are brought together and feel a kinship with those who experienced similar things and feelings. Then their given a purpose, devote yourself to the collective so that you never have to feel that way again.

This episode really puts into perspective just how powerful Tamakis quirk is. The ability to manifest anything from whatever he eats organic or not and to combine them in any way he can think of is crazy. So glad we final finally get to have the confidence he deserves

Isn’t mono’s quirk basically the same thing but better? Though she has the exact same problem of being insecure, maybe quirks with endless possibilities makes their users overwhelmed by too many choices, if you can only punch hard, all you have to do is punch hard, but if you can manifest wherever, then what is the best option?

​​@@RodrigoTakeharaI don't think I would say it's the same but better. Manifest is much easier to use but also has less options. For example if suneater wants wings he just needs to eat an animal that has some form of wing. For Momos quirk she can't just make wings because the things she creates aren't part of her body. So she needs to create something that works like Wings like a jetpack and she needs to know very precisely how to build the jetpack. Momos quirk is less intuitive because the Tool created isn't part of your body and is limited by your knowledge on detailed structures you can build.

It’s why they were seen as worthless Momo can make nonorganic stuff . That depends on her knowledge of what she wants to create and how much food she eats

I think you misunderstood the villain's backstory. They aren't using their pasts as an excuse to be evil. It's because of their pasts that they feel worthless, so they pledged themselves to Overhaul because he was the only one who ever gave them worth.

Gotta disagree on dissing the villains' backstories on this one. They all got the short end of the stick in life. Heck two of them were playing life on hard mode just because of their quirks. Really shows how good overhaul is at manipulation and reading people.

The animal kingdom really does have some impressive individuals. Even some of modern technology is designed after structures and features found naturally in nature. Tamaki's power can really bring all those features together to make a real powerful chimeric force.

7:43 before anyone even tries to bring this up. no this wouldn't work For invisible girl and probably not for momo either. Mirio's quirk is an emitter. One that works by making his own atoms unable to have collisions with others and overlap them ecisting within the same space. In the simplest terms. He can turn it on and off through his whole body or a body part at will. The hair suit thing tricks the quirk into thinking the suit is a part of his body and it kind of is so it activates on the clothes as well. hagakure(invisible girl) has a mutation type quirk. She is always invisible she can't turn it on or off. She has no activation and making a suit would her would be redundant unless they knew how to make completely invisible clothes. And since she has short hair she can't just shave it and makes clothes with it that are always invisible. Not to mention that shit would get lost. The outside of her body reflects and bens light around her essentially making her like a prism. Almost like a transparent object underwater. Super if not impossibly hard to see. Momo on the other hand. Well I'm not sure entirely. It's possible that they could make a suit using her parts of her hair but it's likely it wouldn't work. Either 1 it get damaged and need in battle and have a constant need to be repaired which would be very difficult and expensive. 2 the suit could be consumed as bodyfat and basically destroyed to create an object on accident when momo is trying to make something. Like she tries to make a staff and part of her costume goes with it to make it. Basically burnt like fuel. At that point it's easier to just have a revealing outfit thats easily replaceable by her own quirk if damaged.

I LOVE this episode, Suneater definitely jumped to one of my absolute favorites when I originally saw this. The whole thing, the backstory behind his name, how strong he is when he actually believes in himself, the fight and the smart ways he can use his quirk with merging and eating a crystal, even those 3 villains who were marked generic I liked their powers together, larceny is kinda cool. Just all around liked this one.

Sun eaters quirk would suck to have. Imagine being able to know all the gross shit you eat without realizing it. Imagine you wake up one morning and you realize you can turn into a spider cuz one crawled in your mouth last night.

Yes he has a strong quirk but he has to cut them at least once before he can use it, so he also "walk out with knives against heroes." You dont know how skilled the person might be, or what their quirk is.

He is a quiet person. And as someone else who's often quiet, that's okay! And oh boy, actual childhood friends! Who lasted unlike Bakugo and Deku! Despite also having a huge power gulf and even more different energy levels! Sigh, do yourself a favor and DON'T watch 86. Why mention that? I was rewatching a review and looking to see if it was on any of my streaming services yet. Just... it would wreck you. Best described as the happy (for art aplpreciators) accident from Gumdan having an otherwise regrettable one night stand with AOT. So many dead kids. Glad the opening rocked you, because you're going to need warmups for some of what comes! 6:41 a knife can still hurt a lot of heroes if successfully delivered, and to be quite frank, a standard fighting knife outclasses a LOT of quirks. Like over a quarter of Deku's Class would be more dangerous using knives than quirks. It undeniably classifies them as bottom tier fodder though. Besides, there are dumb dumbs who try to unload with small arms on the likes of Ghost Rider over in Marvel or Blue Beetle (Jaime version) in DC. Heck, there are STILL fools who try to use 9mm pistols on freaking Superman even after years or decades in universe. So it's not unreasonable to see jobbers going after heroes in a Superhero anime that take heavy cues from western comics. 7:34 So why can't Invisible girl have that? Why does she have to be all nekked? Well, we know the reason. Because she's a girl. And My hero can't always rise above the genre conventions. Welcome to the Yakuza funhouse! Now get scattered for ambushes! 11:33 Maybe. We'll see. Sometimes the one off is memorable. To be fair, handguns are usable by everyone*, and require minimal training. If a villain is tapped into the black market arms trade, they should totally get guns if they can. Heck, a lot quirks are arguably less deadly than a good rifle. Overhaul clearly has an eye for potential, and if you give a home to those with nothing, they will be VERY grateful. Again, being shy isn't something he can really afford if he wants to be a hero. If he was a food critic or something, sure, but as a hero with a showy power who's not following the Eraserhead model? Can't afford to be shy and suffer performance anxiety. Though Mirio has clearly helped him get past that level of crippling crowd induced paralysis. Not the first superpower based on eating anything I've seen. And I have to say, eating a bomb piece by piece and finishing with the timer is a much more audacious display. Though Matter Muncher Lad (I'm serious, the name is a holdover from the silver age, and the Legion have always had goofy powers) doesn't suffer perpetual hunger. These guys are continuing off of what Twice showed. There are people who don't fit in with lawful civil society, but still want a place to belong. And these 3 have been given than by Overhaul. Sure, two of them could have maybe made it as heroes, but for whatever reason, they fell though the cracks, where a gloved hand picked them up. And it's not even an anime trope. It's psychology. And it can very much apply to the real world. Heck, it's recruiting for radicalizing 101. Take the angry/downtrodden outcasts and tell them you can help them while giving them a target. And Japan has issues with people who don't fit in being ostracized. Multiply that by random superpowers.....

If Tamaki wasn't a side character, he'll definitely be the next n°1 hero. He and his quirk are just OP, Manifest IS the strongest quirk, it canonically has NO limits to its potential. If he goes to a buffet and eat like it's his last meal, he could just be an insanely overpowered chimera. "Yeah but one for all-" shush right now, what could All Might or Deku do if a villain took hostages underwater? Nothing. Tamaki is the most versatile hero that could ever be, he just has to eat fish and boom he can breathe underwater and do his cool chimera things and beat the shit out of anyone. In this hero society were "In any situation we need adequate quirks" he IS the best. HE CAN EVEN MANIFEST ROCKS! It'll be bad for his tummy but make him regularly eat small pieces of TITANIUM and he could manifest TITANIUM BOOSTED TENTACLES LIKE WTF He is op, best character ever, make a spin off with just him He could even eat a lot of bananas and manifest potassium in his enemy's mouth and kill them, but he won't because that's not hero friendly.......... even if it's technically the easiest win ever. Eat bananas -> win
