A Plague Doctor germophobe who sees the sociological issue of heroism and instantly identifies it as a symptom of the disease that is quirks? And then the plague doctor mask doubles as a Raven Beak in artistic expressions of Eri being tormented by him? Just amazing usage of that aesthetic.

But it does kinda destroy the narrative that you can't be a hero without a quirk. If Mirio can protect someone from Overhaul for 5 minutes without support gear then any quirkless person with support gear can be a fine hero. Which then kinda puts into question a lot of Dekus character.

​@@wavemoonI mean, All Might said that you can't be a hero without a quirk, but then almost immediately retracted that statement in the very same episode after Deku rushes in to save Bakugo when nooneelse did. Nighteye has a very good quirk, but it's limitations require him to save it and use it sparingly. Even so, he's still a super effective combatant with his mental and physical abilities. Lemillion was taught by Nighyeye for, what, 2-3 years? Of course his fighting style and philosophy would become a more like his teacher's. The narrative has never been, "You can't be a hero without a quirk." That's why they put so much emphasis on Deku's perspection, information intake, planning, and strategizing. That's not One For All working, that's just Deku. OFA gives Deku the opportunity to fight on the front lines, but without it, he probably still would have become a more support and strategy oriented hero working behind the scenes or like a "guy in the chair" type character.

Mirio's stand against Overhaul is one of the greatest moments in the whole show, and it shows why Nighteye was so adamant that he became All-Might's successor. Like Deku, he's a hero in the truest sense, regardless of whether he has a Quirk or not. He truly was amazing.

Future sight is such a double edged sword. If you only see one future, you may be unable to change it, if you see many possibilities, you may be able to make better decisions but you also have to live with the knowledge of all the possible failures and consequences of your actions if you mess up.

Theres also the thing that, if youve seen a certain future, you´ll likely alter your actions to make that future happen or prevent it. Which raises the question, would that future have come to pass if you hadnt seen it and didnt alter your actions accordingly. Like the vase scene in matrix.

There are multiple models of how time works. What you are talking about is a parallel Worlds Theorie, where every decission is creating a different string. But in MHA it is established by Nighteye, that there is only one singular string of time, and that cant be changed. You can only exist at the specific point in time. ***SPOILER*** People seem to forget, that there is a reason why deku can change fate in that moment, and not by his volation, but because eri can turn back time... There is another timeability changing future by changing the present. Nioghteyes Theorie about unchangeable fate is stil valid, it got just overruled by on specific Power, which as far we know, nobody else has.

The reason Eri came back was because Overhaul was using the truth telling quirk of the subordinate he fused with. As long as you hear the question you have answer it in a way they can hear, even if that means moving into another room so they can hear you speak.

Fun thing about this arc is that Overhaul's quirk is kind of like an upgraded version of Shigaraki's. Both can disintegrate stuff on contact with Overhaul being able to reconstruct stuff however he wants on top of that. It's kind of like Deku has to practice on him before he eventually fights Shigaraki.

24:12 25:20 It is very possible that everyone understanded what is happening, but in any case that someone didn't actually noticed, Overhaul is using Neomoto's quirk "Confession" to psicologically manipulate Eri, just like Neomoto did with Lemillion (for instance, Neomoto was the guy that fused with Chisaki). Although I think that was unnecesary, as Eri is so traumaticed about her existance that she probably have come to Chisaki even without using Neomoto's quirk, but the anime used it to show us how broken Overhaul is, as it permits you to fuse with other people and use their quirks like All For One.

While i agree to the psychological part, there was also the factor that if Eri heard the question she is literally forced to come within range so overhaul can hear her answer. So while he could shout louder with the specifically designed hand mouth, she would have to leave the injured Mirio (who was in no shape to physically stop her) and return to where Overhaul could hear her naturally quiet voice. With this he could prevent her running away or hiding and demoralize Deku with both her answers and the demonstration of his ability to call anyone back if they grabbed her and ran.

@@yugoxgc The confession quirk *does* force you to do one very specific thing. You hear the question and must tell the one who asked it your honest answer. That honesty goes deep enough that even you may be surprised by what you really feel (ala Mirio's answer to Neomoto) and you have to tell it directly and in full to your subconscious understanding. The part about them having to hear your reply was confirmed either by the author or in a databook (I can't remember which right now) and even makes sense from a writing standpoint, if you have a quirk that forces the truth what is the point if your victim can just whisper the answer or leave the room or in any way actively prevent themselves from doing so short of either outside help or physically preventing themselves from being able to speak. The challenge to our hero's growth from Neomoto's quirk is to face those truths and find the will to see that you act for more than just that truth or even in spite of it, which Mirio did wonderfully.

Also, the guy stated (more or less) "100% of the times I've been correct, therefore my I foresee is always correct even if I interpret it wrong" That's just incorrect logic, no sample size is big enough to declare something as always true, the only thing he could affirm with 100% confidence is that the future can be changed if, in fact, he sees something and that thing doesn't happen Mind you, it's still incredibly likely that his next premonition is correct if he has a 100% record but again, you can't claim that it will always be correct, and while in real life that is usually good enough, like, the bus could arrive at your stop exactly at the same hour throughout your lifespan and for you saying "the bus comes every day at exactly 8:30" would be as good as true, but in any narrative, not just a shönen, what nighteye says is BOUND to be proven wrong in most cases, a writer can only do 4 things with his powers, and in 3/4 of those things he's ultimately wrong (besides the fact he's an Oracle that actively engages with the story in the "same" side as the main character rules out the possibility of it being the 1 writing scenario where he's always right 100% of the times every time) unless the story expressly is about determinism (just for clarification one of the 3/4 things is when he's liable to misinterpret his forecast, which although still deterministic means his words have less and less weight the more impactful they are for the story even if he ends up being right)

To me, the ability to see the future is one of the most least diserable powers that I would want. Sure, it can be useful in the short-term perspective to see incoming danger. The issues come with long-term foresight and the mental anguish of that knowledge. Is there no way to avoid this? When will this happen? Am I influencing this event to happen by knowing? Also, I like the line Yoda in Star Wars said about seeing the future: "The future is always in motion,". Just because you see the event doesn't mean the outcome is what you expect. IMO, with any form of future sight, the further you can see, the more ambuguish the premanetion becomes.

Two anime that you REALLY need to see are 'Welcome To Demon School Iruma' and 'Fire Force'. You'll pretty much love all the good characters in the first, and the MC of the latter was practically tailor made for *you* to love him. He has a heart of gold and a VERY unfortunate facial tic that makes people think he's a psycho.

The issue with the certainty of Nighteye's quirk is, that he sees only pictures. So even if what he sees in inevitable, there is no guarantee that he interpreted that picture correctly. You have the proof right in this very episode. He thought Deku getting screwered and bathed in his own blood meant he's dead, and yet he's still alive and kicking (literally even). He can see someone with a flatline on the EKG and assume they are dead, but in the real future, someone comes around a few seconds later to do CPR or use a defibrilator. Not to mention that we've seen Overhaul bring dead people back to life multiple times now. Who's to say his is the only quirk in the world that can do that? And that's just uncertainties about the future IF we assume Nighteye's foresight is never wrong, which is something we can't even rule out either.

W! I really wish this cutaway showed Uravity and Froppy fighting in real time. Someone has to be the voice of reason and restraint. No plan that makes Toga smile is pretty to look at. 9:44 Quirk: Overhaul; Forbidden Art: Human Transmutation. And unlike Fusion Dance, this is actually a VERY effective last resort. Overhaul won't stop until he can't go anymore. If they grab Eri and run, he'll give chase with all he has. Last episode, Overhaul talked about how these special rounds are total annihilation of a quirk. The kind used on Suneater is the quicker cheaper version, but Lemillion was hit with one of the batch that took 5 months to cultivate. And while 5 months for a single reload is a lot, with this kind of power, they considered it worth it. Each bullet could be a pro hero forced into a humiliating retirement.... or softened up for a kill shot. It's why they want to speed up production so badly. Being able to dull a quirk into uselessness for a few hours is nice, but to permanently take someone off the board even if they live? With a single shot no less? Yeah. That's something a lot of people on both sides of the law would pay a kingly premium for. I mentioned how foresight can be a burden, especially the existential question of whether we have free will if the future is already determined. Overhaul quickly became one of the most detested characters with his maniplulative words. Just because you can see an attack coming, doesn't necessarily mean you can dodge it. Nighteye's time in this fight is done, so now Deku must step up. If the manipulating of a child didn't make people hate Overhaul, the cutting of a bean surely did the trick. RAZE THE ROOF! IT'S THROWDOWN TIME!

Personally I cant speak for everyone else, but being able to watch an episode ahead has nothing to do with me thinking Nighteyes quirk and reasoning is bullshit. Ive just seen too many stories where people say fate cant be changed and it either changes or doesn't. To many theories about what happen with time for me to think somone is 100% correct about seeing the future. It is a trope in anime that fate, or visions of the future, can be changed. However, there is no guarantee that is how a specific anime will treat fate, nor how they should treat fate. However, in this show in particular, there is a fair chance that the future sight of Sir Nighteye actually cannot be changed 'normally'. It is a theory that this specific event changed because of the "'willpower of the heroes", aka plot. However, it is also worth noting that Eri's quirk reverses time. This temporal manipulation is a much more likely and effective explanation for these events. All this is to say that people just assuming his future sight doesn't always work (due to plot contrivance) actually fail to see the thoughtfulness and skill put into writing the story of My Hero Academia.

16:03 It's called unreliable narrator, if the guy says he's been accurate 100%, therefore the future can't be changed it doesn't mean he's right, we're affirming the consequent, it's not sound, but even then for someone who knows very well how stories move narratively, it is weird that you can't see the difference between saying the above thing vs the narration flat out stating "it can't be changed" (period) what's the difference? One is clearly set up to be proven wrong, and the other one is boundary setting that the writer if they want can subvert but is optional and in case they don't, the only wiggle room it kinda has to have if you want to make the oracle a character that lasts more than a scene and the mc has constant access to them is that they'll be wrong by interpretation rather than vision There's 4 possibilities, he's right and the future can't change, he's wrong and the future can change, he's right but what he interprets can be "soft" wrong (so like for example: he said he saw allmight get killed by a villain, but what if he saw allmight get killed by a dude on accident or like, idk, a drunk hero that couldn't aim an attack or something but because in his mind only a villain would kill allmight that's what he interpreted it as) or he's wrong and the future can be changed but also even when what he sees is correct, he can still interpret it wrong. when you think about it 3/4 possibilities mean that he's ultimately wrong in any given prediction And sure, irl I believe in determinism, so if I lived in the Bnha universe I'd think he's correct but because I know it's a narrative I know what the narrative toolkit looks like

I read it as *Eri* can cause the prediction to be wrong because she can rewind and redo, and by manipulating the flow of time it goes outside of Sir's ability to see the future. Viewers: Obviously the future can be changed before we have any reason to believe so Until Deku’s death was seen by Nighteye’s quirk literally nothing indicated that it was possible to change the future since that’s about the only thing that can’t happen

Ultimately you can't win Alicia, you either completely believe the show and people will complain that you aren't thinking the possibility that the show is lying to you. But on the complete other hand, in attack on titan, When we see the father's death (I'll keep it like that so that way it's spoiler free), and you kept denying that it was like that and that there was more to his story, People complain that you weren't believing the story. So at the end of the day you can't win you either believe the story and people complain or you don't believe the story and people complain. It's more of a case by case thing and the people that you're arguing with need to chill a little bit, cuz it isn't always obvious. It's only obvious because we've completed the shows and know the outcomes and know what it means, but I'm sure most of us had no idea what the things we should be thinking were at the time of watching

What you don-t understand is what people are trying to tell you, something like "You cannot change the future" or "You only can eat one devil fruit" normally, in anime, that rule applies to everyone but for sure someone will break it.... And the fun part is that you calling others stupid, lame.

And she knows about the type of storytelling she literally did say that she knows about the trope of something being unchangeable and then the exciting moment where it's flipped, if you really think about it it's not hard to predict what is gonna happen like the evil squad hasn't won in a while or done anything and we get a focus on they are probably gonna win or if things are getting quite maybe the heros or villains are gonna get a power boost like a typical anime So if you want to enjoy a show just accepting what they show and what we have seen and enjoy as things get revealed that's why she said she just believed what we know so far about nighteye and people commenting about that aren't looking past just the first thought and more people being persistent almost pushes it into spoiler territory and you start to think if that moment is gonna happen in near future

Rock Lock still sucks. His concern is no reason to be an annoying, insulting, hardasss asshole. His every line has been condescending and infuriating. Like, he doesn’t have to be happy-go-lucky, Aizawa isn’t and he’s great. But Rock Lock just comes off like a jerk and is too proud to properly explain himself out loud, just having an internal monologue saying he hopes he wasn’t being too harsh when he’s been acting like a hater this WHOLE TIME.
