Josuke, Giorno and Jolyne are all worse JoJo's than Jonathan, as they are merely Jospeh/Dio/Jotaro clones with extra steps rather than their own characters and they have little to no impact on the overall story.

Another notheworthy thing to mention is that Erina actually didn't raise the baby girl, she was given to another character (this will come up as a plot point), so Jonathan's son didn't think of her as an adopted sister, which makes their later relationship less akward.

Yeah Part 2 goes hard and basically doesn't stop, it's the reason why Part 1 looks tame by comparison, because this shit gets WILD and you can never tell what Joseph is planning to overcome insane odds. Also this episode is probably one of the best character introductions ever, we fully understand him as a character all in one episode: his current abilities, his mindset, his odd quirks, his unpredictable nature; the only thing left kinda hazy is what happened to his parents, but that's on purpose, but aside from that we know absolutely everything we need to know about the character already and can now see him grow with each episode

Joseph is shown reading 'Baoh Raihousha' ('Baoh: the Visitor') in the anime when he and Speedwagon are attacked by a group of hijackers., one of the previous works. In the manga, Joseph is reading a Superman comic. The cave in which the Pillar Man is discovered in resembles the interior of the derelict spacecraft on LV-426 from the movie Aliens. So, some more manga history. Joseph was actually a big departure from the typical shonen protagonist of the time. I mentioned before that Johnathan was pretty par for the course, as most shonen protags were unambiguous good boys with pretty straight forward personalities. Joseph, however, is not that. He is a trickster and a bit of an ass, which was VERY different from other shonen protagonists. It made him stand out, and helped normalize variety in protagonist personalities in the genre. Joseph walked around New York shouting at taxi drivers and carrying a tommy gun so Denji could run around talking about boobs and drinking blood.

Jojo Part 1 is basically a (really liberal) adaptation of Dracula + magic kung fu bullshit. Part 2 is the rough plotline of an Indiana Jones plot + magic Kung Fu bullshit. Part 3 is Around the World in 80 Days + freaky super powered ghost bullshit. Part 4 is pretty much any small town murder mystery story + freaky super powered ghost bullshit. (The author himself also considers this part to be his magnum opus) Part 5 is a mafia movie + superhuman ghost insanity. Part 6 is a prison drama + superghost craziness. Araki has a tendency of introducing the new main characters in ways, where they're reminiscent of the previous MC at first, but then they do a complete 180 out of nowhere. Not necessarily in character, but in how they act out that character. Joseph starts his first scene by speaking in a somewhat pompous, gentlemanly voice, just like Jonathan might have, and then he just fucking SLAMS HIS FIST into a policeman's face out of nowhere.

Where Joseph however, was plucky but ultimately a respectful person, the first actual line we get from Jotaro is him telling his mother to fuck off. Similarly Josuke is introduced visually as a rough high school bancho (more so in the manga, where the art style for early Part 4 still had really bulky men), and he spends most of his first scenes being extremely respectful and apologetic even when he doesn't need to be. And the two times he DOES snap it's for the wrong reason.

@@nickfulson186 If they were convinced to skip half the Part, after the final buildup and the Dio fight, I don't believe new watchers would actually decide to go back. There wouldn't be any point. You already got your payoff and climax without feeling the scope of the journey.

In erina's defence, I doubt they knew the effects alcohol had on babies during pregnancy backwhen she was young. And so you meet one of, if not THE, most popular JoJo in the west, Joeseph Joestar. He's veery clearly intentionally made to be as different from his grandad as possible. Not only is he far less nice and honourable, he also has a much stronger personality in general aswell as being prone to comedy far more. His intelligence is also far more highlighted, between his little prdiction and analytical sills as well as his propensity to being prepared ahead of time, as demonstrated by his little tommy gun trick. Erina may be old, but her youth has taught her that she is sick of people's shit and so has no problem with beating her grandson for beeing a jackass or having her grandson beat up mofos for being shitty. The ED's pretty neat as it directly follows from the first one. Where the first ED showed the bloody, deadly history of the Mask and thsoe who killed and fought over it as the blood goes towards the mask, we see the mask activate and EXPLODE, revealing a corpse (liekly one of the people who tried to use the mask, showing that not everyone was successful in attaining its power) while showing us the stylishness of Battle Tendency and characters who will be important as the story goes on. And now JoJo must face half of Dire Straits, corrupted by the allure of the Mask. Will he win? Probably. Also nowits officially revealed that Hamon slows aging, it explains why Zepelli aged when he gave all of his hamon to Jonathan.

The baby from the ship is his mother. Erina was pregnant from Jonathan when she escaped the ship. Jonathan's son is Joseph's father. Erina even hinted at being pregnant when she and the baby escaped by saying "the life that is growing within me".

To clarify: the baby that was picked up, [Name Redacted As Spoiler], was raised by Erina. Important note: Erina was preggers on the boat. She gave birth to a son, who she raised alongside [Name Redacted]. Erina's son laid mad pipe in [Name Redacted], who then gave birth to Joseph Joestar. Erina's son then died in the Great War. It is now the beginning of the Second World War. Hope this helps!
