Tonio has a sweet story behind why he got so good at cooking. Araki stated years after part four that Tonio has a sister who was very sick, he already knew how to cook somewhat but decided to go on a world journey to find all the best health strengthening recipes and cooking styles. Which is what helped to make him such an amazing chef. I believe he did help to save his sister after the journey, to which he eventually went to go live in Japan.

Daily JoJo's fun facts: As stated by Tonio in one of the JoJo spin-offs written by Araki the quality of the food and ingredients affects how quickly and how strong the healing ability of Tonio's Stand is: the greater the ailment, the more expensive and high quality the ingredients have to be.

Reference of the day: Tonio’s true name is Tonio Trussardi, and instead of being based after music, Trussardi is in reference to the fashion designer Nicola Trussardi and his fashion brand Trussardi. Tonio is Araki’s first red herring character, meant to look intimidating when in reality he is just a guy who loves cooking and making people happy with his dishes to the point he naturally unlocked his stand ability during his travels to help with his goals. He can cure just about any disease or ailment, even cancer, but it solely is based on the quality of his ingredients. So regular tap water wouldn’t have had the same curative effect on Billions compared to the mountain mineral water.
@filipvadas7602 Жыл бұрын
Tonio's stand *Pearl Jam* doesn't actually effect the quality of the food itself, so Tonio is just that good of a chef, and the power of its healing ability is heavily based on the quality of the ingredients used. In fact, in a spinoff of DiU we learn that in order to heal something as serious as a tumor, he would need a fish endemic to the shore of Morioh (or something of a similar rarity)
@АлексейЮрловский Жыл бұрын
Also fun fact: Tonio got his stand from his top quality cooking skills. He ended up in Morio seemingly only thanks for stand user attraction and has nothing to do with arrow and bow. This means that being abnormally good at something can give you a corresponding stand in Jojo universe.

I think Araki took the idea of this encounter from Alfred Hitchcock’s “Bomb under the table” situation. The bomb must never explode or it’ll be unsatisfying. My favorite part 4 episode! This episode teaches us a important thing, a new way a stand can be unlocked: Stand Users can be born with stands like Kakyoin. They can get their stands trough the arrow like Koichi. Trough a psychic connection to a family member who awoke a stand, like how Jotaro got his when Jonathan's body was pierced and Dio gained The Wold. And now we know that the mastery of a craft can also awake a stand in people: Tonio unlocked Pearl Jam when traveling the world studying to become a great chef, his stand is practically MADE to assist him in his craft.

= Stand Catalogue = Hello there, I shall be listing stands as we encounter them, their stats, and their abilities as known at the point of the series Im commenting on as we follow each Part. No spoilers, of course. Stand Callouts: These stands were present, but didn't do much for the main fight - The Hand Comment(s) of the Day: - Yeah sometimes Araki just loves to geek out over certain things. Tonio is a rare example of a stand user who got their ability not because they were born with it or given it, but because they got so good at doing what they love that they manifested a stand all on their own. Stand Name: Pearl Jam (Localization: Pole Jam (I cant lmao-)) Stand Type: Colonial Fruit-ish Stand User: Tonio Trussardi Reference: Pearl Jam, the Band Destructive Power: E Precision: E Speed: C Range: B Persistence: A Development Potential: C TLDR for Alicia: A perfect non-combat stand, Pearl Jam allows its user to cure the maladies of those who eat foods instilled (literally) with the stand, the more expensive/exquisite the ingredients, the greater its healing power. The Breakdown: Pearl Jam is another colonial stand who's ability is as straightforwards as it is easy. Complimenting its user's cooking ability, Pearl Jam has the ability to instill food with curative properties by literally being cooked into it and subsequently being ingested by the consumer, where the stand can be presumed to work on their body from the inside. The ability for it to restore maladies scales with the rarity/pricing/etc of the items being used - so far, its greatest feat involving his property involved using a dish involving an extremely rare form of abalone found only in Morioh that he had to risk his life to procure, Tonio was able to cleanse his lover of a form of cancer, so naturally less serious maladies are handleable with less expensive items. The only downside to Pearl Jam is that the method in which it heals can be rather gruesome - dry eyes literally seem to pour out rivers of cleansing tears, cavity-filled teeth shoot out of the gums then regrow good as new, and an inflamed bowl bursts from the body in a gory fashion before repairing itself as if nothing happened. Atleast the feeling doesnt seem to be painful, just uncomfortable. Pearl Jam naturally has no combat qualities, but then again - does every stand have to have some? Stand Name: Crazy Diamond (Localization: Shining Diamond) Stand Type: Close-Range Humanoid Stand User: Josuke Higashikata Reference: Shine On You Crazy Diamond (by Pink Floyd) Destructive Power: A Precision: B Speed: A Range: D Persistence: B Development Potential: C TLDR for Alicia: Another close range bruiser of a stand, Crazy Diamond is a more nuanced pugilist with the ability to repair the broken with the simple touch of a finger. . .or smash of its fists. The Breakdown: Crazy Diamond is a physically powerful stand, shown capable of boxing with a (admitedly off-season) Star Platinum and donuting people as casually as both SP and The World have been able too in Part 3. Its physical traits are rather impressive, but its its esoteric one that is of the most interest - Crazy Diamond can repair damaged objects to their original state, living and nonliving. Josuke has a fine level of control over how objects reform and in what order - he can make it so objects do not reform exactly as they did prior or even simply reform into their component parts, or even make it so that reformed objects appear wholey inside of one another - of important note is that objects that were/may have split appart (like say a liquid) will reform into one mass near always, which is incredibly handy when dealing with something as slippery as liquids. The obvious weakness too this stand is its range, which is shorter than Star Platinum's, but being a Joestar - Josuke can probably find ways around this. Its second major weakness is that the stand can only repair others, but not the user or itself.

2:11 IIRC pigs are most similar to humans in terms of organs. So I would assume human meat would taste similar to pork. If anything our diet is closer to pigs than lambs

The stands in this part and beyond tend to be really on the nose with their references. Pearl Jam is based on an actual band, obviously. The band has a handful of popular songs, but had previously refused to play them. They believed that all their music had to be enjoyed; not just the popular songs. While it did cause some backlash, their popularity was far more steady in the long run. That’s why Tonio is the way he is. He’s a talented chef with delicious and healthy food, but will only serve the customer what they need, not what they want. Also, Tonio’s healing abilities are a multiplier of the original benefits of the food consumed. Anything beyond the simple/non-lethal illnesses would require higher and higher quality ingredients to be able to be treated. This aspect of Tonio’s abilities is a bit more obscure.

There is a sushi place in Dallas here where they only sit at most 2 parties of 4, you schedule a 2 hour block, and you just sit down and the chef serves you whatever he has planned for the day. You get no say in it unless you have a food allergy. There's also a seafood place in Denton that operates in the same way. You have to book months in advanced to get a spot at either place.

This is PEAK part 4. In fact, I can't see this "fight" being in any other part. Love that silly Tonio. I would kill for food that could fix my teeth

As an Italian I didn't hear anything italian so far by Ant Btw Based Araki episode showcasing his love for Italy Actually agree with Ant, he usually travels a lot before he starts writing/drawing the new part so It's probably true

What I especially love about Josuke punching the spaghetti is that he could’ve just touched it with Crazy Diamond, but he’s so extra he had to aggressively punch it 😆

That's called cannibalism, dear alicia, and is a crime... Also makes you go insane. But people say that another term for human meat, from studying some cannibalistic tribes in the jungles, is long pig and they say that human meat would be similar to pork.

I feel bad because Pearl Jam canonically can cure cancer with the right ingredients

As you guessed, Araki has been to Italy many times and loves the food, people and everything about the country, which will become even more apparent later in the series

There was an ad event for a zombie movie/game (I don't remember) in Finland where they had hamburgers that where simulated to taste like a human/zombie would taste like. And apparently it tasted kind of like a pork thats gone bad long ago. So not really an answer to what it would taste like, but probably the closest one could legally get to it.

I would be positive, Tornio can treat anything with Pearl Jam, but as it shows, it will literally expel the damaged/tainted part before replacing it. I would say it’s worth the pain if there is. The pain to relief periods ridiculously short.

Fun fact, in a side story Tonio actually stole some super ultra rare abalones to cure his girlfriend's cancer.
