The original Alien 1979 is a true masterpiece in “ film art “ Aliens is a great movie but it’s an action “ movie” . Alien 3 is underrated. Resurrection is a an utter abomination and insult to the previous films it’s a travesty and just completely wrong in tone and delivery. The new born was one of the worst designs that I’ve seen. It looked like a skinned gibbon. AvP is just bad, AvP Requiem is one of the worst movies ever made let alone within the Alien saga. Prometheus and Covenant ruined the mystery of Alien and totally missed the the target in regards to the Space Jokey making him into a reject from Star Wars. Not seen Romulus yet . Surely it has to be an improvement over Resurrection , I still have …hope… but not much.

About gene expression, it is exactly how it works, to some extent, of course. Same genes can lead to different phenotypes and it is biggest headache of biologists. It is very big subject. What I want to say, alien can be affected by the host. Kinda like a kid can get permanent brain damage if mother did stupid things during pregnancy. Of course it will not inherit this changes and changes are not about be similar to the host. Most probabl scenario is like: because of this host, the synthesis of the protein for cell membranes is slightly fucked and it is not resistant to disolving by own blood.
