“Corvus” is the general scientific name for crows. And a human and an alien are going to use old mining explosives from when the farm was a quarry (so a farm, with soil I assume, down in an excavated hole in the ground?) to kill a different genocidal alien?! This sounds more like a plot line from some sort of demented Wile E. Coyote cartoon, not a sci fi story.
