I'd love to see this made into a full length feature film, from the beginning; about the war that led to them surviving deep underground, their existence, to the city above, how they survived, and what happens next! 😃👍❤️

It implies there was no real war it was lies to the underground population to make power and resources for the city above!! That's why the hatch is directly outside of the above ground city and 2 pipes from the hatch to the city where the power is supplied from the underground city to the above ground city and the sign shows it's a underground power plant full of forced labour !! The people who are there was taken as children who doesn't know the truth about the above ground city they are forced to supply

192years, 11months, 1 week, 4 days, 1hour and 36 minutes and no-one on the surface even tried to look for them? What led them into the bunker? What happened down there that made it all go wrong? And why were the lights turned off? How does this man get over his culture shock? This needs a full length movie. It needs answers.
@joestitz53913 күн бұрын
long time in bunker because the world above was so forgotten to those below and vice versa, being generationS after a, separation. and just one little insignificant trap door! all can go wrong down there from no leaders left to lead, died with no replacements but the laws, continue=rampant obligations to control. lights off likely from either a power surge or human accident. gets over a culture shock by seeing and feeling the new freedom and perhaps reformed mission, could make him a new man.. like someone who escapes north korea and get culture shock from many new discoveries, thus realization they were lied to. I say Sequel :)

The lead screams loudly of Bruce Campbell and it's great how fun yet, pivoting and heart pumpingly intense it keep you running from start to finish! Literally... You find yourself really rooting for them especially when you see everybody united in 100% solidarity. Kristiyan Kirchev No, he will be saved, washed, healed, given food and medication. He will be received by the neo-cons and liberal elite in those towers, and he will be dined and wined. Three days later he will be given a wonderful place to live with all amenities, and soon a book deal. He will be surprised how nice this ruling class is, and how little it actually knows about the misery below. They will all be eager to help and buy the book, which will be a best seller and then quickly forgotten. A year later he can barely recall where he came from, the faces of his friends below fade from his consciousness, and soon he loses the last bit of desire to return. He once wanted to start the revolt, now he believes it will destroy the world above and below.
@Ohmriginal7227 жыл бұрын
The thing you have to realize is they went down there 200 years ago because of a huge war, so when he comes up the technology above is 200 years better, with mindsets that are 200 years more progressive, and also the only reason they never came up was because they thought the war was either still going on or had turned Earth above into a wasteland of nuclear fallout. If the people knew the world was not only not toxic, but also fervent with futurism, then of course they'd all be allowed to go up.
@hal900x7 жыл бұрын
No Ethan. Think about the ruling class below, and what they stand to lose should the truth come out. They probably know it's fine up there...after all, there is a ladder and keys.
@jenniferstewart60757 жыл бұрын
How very well put. I see a struggle between ruling powers with this man as the major piece in play. A struggle between those above and those below, with perhaps an ongoing 'understanding' between the two powers. With this fellow now free in the upper realm, as it were, a sort of Blue Sky On Mars theme seems possible. It's unlikely the powers above are unaware of those below. Perhaps the typical sympathetic player enters the scene and helps this man, leading him in the right direction to free both worlds from seen and unseen tyranny. A common scenario, of course. It would be nice to see some sort of twist in the norm. Not much hasn't been written and it would take quite the clever mind to make it an extraordinary story. I love the premise and I see this becoming more. A true masterpiece in the making.

Star Trek TOS had an episode like this. It was "The Cloud Minders." "Helios" is solely devoted to the miners, though. Only by inference are the citizens of the "cloud city" known in this take on the theme. Yes, yes lots of others differences, too, but the theme of the absolute separation between elitists and miners (read: commoners) is there.

Not exactly. We know nothing at all about the City above, just as the "denizens" underground don't seem to. @metaspherz8 жыл бұрын
BS! People's inner thoughts are exposed by their opinions. The evil that you see is a reflection that originates from within your own self. Don't be so smug just because your interpretation of reality is bitter, profane and wildly askew. America is no more evil than any other nation, industrial or otherwise. And entire nations are NOT suffering due to America's needs. That onus is on their own government -- usually a dictatorship -- and that's NOT America's fault. The one thing that ties us all together is greed. Try working for free. Try producing something of value or that you're proud of and just walk away from it. Give it away without expecting compensation. Not just once but all the time. You can't. Nobody can and that's no more greedy or evil than profiting from another person's labor. That's called commerce....
@KennethHuntington18 жыл бұрын
The US dropped 26,171 bombs in 2016. That's three bombs every hour on primarily Muslim countries. That's evil. Don't forget we destroyed two ENTIRE CITIES in Japan for no real good reason wasting countless innocent civilians' lives. Evil is as evil does. Your cellphone and other goods likely came from sweat shops with suicide nets that put economic and health struggles on less privileged countries. We're benefiting from the suffering of others. I can go on. Our economic actions do limit the options other countries have and our culture invading their communities is corrosive and destructive. Ever hear of cultural appropriation? That's one of many aspects of this. It's important we take accountability for our country's bad actions and stop them from happening again as best as we can(which starts by getting our heads out of the sand)

Interesting movie, but it is almost a direct rip off of a Stargate SG-1 episode. Season 4, episode 10. Basically there was a city in the underground that was basically a simulation. People working hard at a power plant for survival thinking there is an ice age, but in truth they are only fueling the power for the upper city. Below is a slum while above is a paradise.

That itself sounds like a ripoff of the Time Machine, where the Morlocks provide power for the Eloi

porpus99 And that which you mention, like this IS a blatant,inferior rip-off of the amazing, provocative and ORIGINAL early sci-fi classic by George Lucas. 1970 perhaps. "THX 1138". With Robert Duval and the always interesting Donald Pleasance.Check THAT full length masterpiece AND then tell me how good this short, unimaginative crap-show was! Everybody can thank me later for the recommendation.

Holy crap. I did the match, and at 1:25, where the billboard is saying how long they've been 'sheltered', that number is equal to 193 years and one month, not taking leap days into account.

THX 1138 and Logon's Run have similar action sequences culminating in finally getting above ground to discover a fantastically different world.

the eloi were people who had no knowledge of their past, had no wealth, the morelocks were cannibals that ate the Eloi, in this story you have people working underground slaving away possibly not knowing about the rich privaldged people living above ground, so... no you're wrong,
@Jefferdaughter8 жыл бұрын
Couldn't that be a kind of metaphorical 'eating' of the worker class? it is also doubtful that these people living underground had much, if any, reall knowledge of their past, either, so Deacon Verter may not be wrong.

My question is: what's the guy going to do now? Stroll casually into Oz?
@sc-sp4cm8 жыл бұрын
so the people down below will now become man eating creatures that lure in the darkness, ... i'd think not, maybe they'll just simply revolt .. and since they don't have any real weapons i don't see anything good coming of it either way... but better to stand as a man then to kneel as a creature or slave....

Sea BelowMe I also thought it was quite simular to the beginning of the novel 'Red Rising' by Pierce Brown. The mega indoor city also seemed like ones portrayed in one of Asimozs 'Robot' novels, just underground ofc.
@dawnrazornephilim8 жыл бұрын
I have never read 'Red Rising', do you reconmend it? The only books by Asimov I have read are the Foundation series, I enjoyed them, not sure why I haven't read any others? I guess I see Metropolis because of the premise- a downtrodden working class underground, oblivious to an elite class living it large above ground. Wasn't there a series of Stargate that did something similar? Hahaha.
@satyr13498 жыл бұрын
Yeah i'd recommend the trilogy from Pierce Brown starting with 'Red Rising', its an easy read not on the level of Asimov or the greats of the 20th century (imo), very probably inspired by older novels. However very enjoyable and engrossing so a 'page turner' as they say. Focuses on a character from a down trodden class forced to work etc, then things happen... As Asimov Foundation may be the best series but the Robot one comes very close, hard to say really, then theres the Empire ones too. Good forum explaining the order of the books (as they link together supposedly) scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/2335/what-order-should-asimovs-foundation-series-be-read-in
