Question: If you craft a flashlight does that mean that every players gets a 1 point reduction in moral if they have an encounter, or just the player holding the flashlight? Answer: The player who carries the flashlight (or the cat-carrier) benefits from the item, not the entire crew. However, if another crew member is in the same space as the player with the item, then they benefit too.

I suggest put replacement tokens for concealed tokens on the board. Put the latter on a cup/bag instead and draw from there. This way, it is easier to return it and mix it with the rest.

I absolutely love this game. Quite easy to learn and play. Also quite easy to bend rules to make it tougher. Try it with one or two of these house rules at a time: 1. Players + 2 objectives. 2. Objectives are kept secret. Only one objective can be revealed at a time. To reveal objectives, even the first one, visit MU-TH-UR first. Place concealed token there as you leave. 3. Start with all 13 concealed tokens placed. 4. After the encounter phase, Ash always moves 1 space. 5. Whenever Ash moves into a room, place a concealed token in there. 6. During the encounter phase, place only one scrap, regardless of what the card says. 7. Either (a) one item of each type can exist at any time, or (b) each item type can only be crafted twice per game. 8. The crew *must always* find and capture Jonesy. No exceptions. Another fun rule is that one player play with the encounter deck. This works with that player drawing two cards, choosing one to play and the other goes to the bottom. The alien always moves at least one space.

In your Use Special Ability section, it's not clear if it would cost Parker 2 actions. 1 to activate the special ability, and 1 due to the special ability description. And so Brett would still have to spend 1 action on his special ability to get that full benefit (he can craft as a part of the special ability, and not a spend a craft action).

We played this last night and had 2 questions that weren't super clear in the directions...would love to hear your take! 1) if you are moving to a certain room and along the way you pass through another room with a conceal token, do you flip it? 2) my sister had the flashlight which reduces the lost morale by 1. Directions say she could use this when it wasn't her turn. We interpreted this as ANY of us who lost morale on our turn could use her flashlight, which effectively meant that any jonesy encounter ended up being moot (1 lost morale point but flashlight nullified it)...are we using the flashlight correctly? Thanks!

You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for. That will cover your question on conceal tokens. For the Flashlight, only the player who carries the flashlight (or the cat-carrier) benefits from the item, not the entire crew. However, if another crew member is in the same space as the player with the item, then they benefit too. It pays to move in groups (until the Alien shows up)

The first person to notice potentially game-breaking errata in any game rulebook and cards these days goes first. The first one to post FAQ on BGG goes second ; ) I watched the vid once and didn’t read the comments so here’s mine: As you mention at the end the BGG link is useful (I hope publishers contribute to their annual fund drive!) Errata “Ignore the Setup graphic in the printed rulebook. It's incorrect. Also, the Motion Tracker cost shown in the rulebook is incorrect. Amend the 3 in the rulebook to a 2 to match the reference cards.” At least some designers and/or publishers answer FAQ's when the game first comes out. And in this case a 'Director's Cut' official variant. He's adamant that no Crew dies though. It wsn’t in his design brief. I don’t think you mentioned the Jonsey Conceal Door token does not cause you to flee another 3 spaces, unlike the Alien Surprise Attack by which you stop while he Stalks you. I would have made special mention (since you skipped it on the card and Jones is a unique Morale loss token) if you have the Cat Carrier you can place Jones Door tokens (2 in the game) underneath it without losing Morale. 6:30 BGG FAQ: Q: Can you willfully move into the Alien's space? A: Yes, and if you do, lower Morale and flee as normal. [your Crew Phase ends] However, don't forget to continue your turn with the Encounter Phase. (Only when revealing a Surprise Attack token do you skip the Encounter Phase) 10:53 My nitpick about the rulebook vs card it says to place a Conceal Token first but the card Scrap icon is on the left reading left to right. It doesn’t matter. Another nitpick is inconsistent use of terminology and an incorrect quote on an Objective card ‘Drive ‘em into the airlock’ (sounds like rustinlin’ cattle) should be ‘Drive It into the Airlock’. It’s an important IP it should be correct. Btw an eagle-eyed BGG user noted the cat art the box "Jonesy had a collar on the game box art....they’ve actually drawn Goose from Captain Marvel!" The exact pose from a photo. The Crew placard art is very nice probably drawn from promo stills. 11:40 I would have made special mention that you can use the Flashight or Electric Prod during an Alien Attack since they don’t take actions to use and you don’t need to use them only when it’s your turn. They reduce the Morale loss from Encounter Cards. Morale loss is a huge deal in the game. Mitigating it with those items is important. I know you said to read the player aid card but it takes a few seconds to note. Even though they don’t have an ASH plastic figure I like the look of the standee. The plastic figures are nice & solid. The board art is adequate. I like to play this on my Star Wars X-wing starfield playmat lol. This game is more winnable with three Crew and very difficult with all five. END TRANSMISSION

I have a question about the Order 937 card. My friends and I were playing this last night and doing relatively well, so well that all the alien cards were gone from the deck. It seems there's an error in the game where one of those Order 937 cards has you shuffle them all back into the deck, this results in an infinite loop of the deck being only Order 937 cards. Did we do something wrong? Or was that not taken into consideration?

Think there's an alien card that suffles all alien cards back into deck. Towards end of game you are playing the deck with 937 and alien cards only as quiet cards don't get shuffled back

Hi Rodney, can you please clarify the rule about the Trade action? In your video, and on the player action reference card, it seems that when you do a Trade action you have to be the active participant in the trade, also in your explanation it seems that only you and one other crew member can be part of the trade. However, in the rulebook it seems to say that doing the Trade action means that you don't have to be an active participant in the trade, and by performing the action you're allowing all crew members who are in the same space give or take any number of items and scrap as they're able amongst each other, regardless of whether you are offering any items or scrap to the trade. Just wondered if you were able to offer a clarification on that rule please.

They do not have to be active in the trade. Their action starts the trade, and they need to be in the space where the trading is occurring, but as long as all 3 players are in one room the others can trade. For example: Player A says they are using an action to trade. Players B, and C in the same space can then swap things around. Hope that helps!

Can there be a concealed token in the Nest? How many scrap does it take to make a Motion Detector? The reference card says 2, but the rulebook says 3.

I checked with the publisher, and the cost should be 2 for the Motion Detector. There is one card that can put a concealed token in the nest (lost the signal), and yes, the nest can have a concealed token in.

I just got this game earlier yesterday and did a solo playthrough and won on my first try as Dallas but one thing I was confused about was I revealed a concealed token that had Jonesy on it but I had a cat carrier in my inventory so I wasn’t sure if I lost morale or not but I did have fun with it though.

Rodney- @05:25 If Parker fled the attacked Maintenance room into the Garage, then revealed the Conceal Surprise Attack token which causes the Alien to immediately move to attack him…Does Ripley still have to flee the previously attacked Maintenance room, even though morale has been resolved and the Alien is no longer in her room? The rule book doesn’t specifically address that situation: “The Crew members who encountered the Alien must immediately flee by moving three spaces away in a direction of their choice.” (They all can’t immediately flee at the exact same time, that would be game play chaos if more they encountered multiple Conceal Surprise Attack tokens, and especially playing solitaire, unless they all move to the same spaces). Why does this matter? Objectives & Final Mission. If all Crew do have to Flee the original encounter, they can potentially complete Objectives & Final Mission and perhaps encounter more Conceal tokens. If they Do Not have to flee, then that can’t happen. You could also say it’s player’s choice. The RAW is an incomplete thought. The designer seems to refuse to answer. I asked 3 times in great detail on BGG including a PM(!!!) I have to assume Ripley still flees as part of the original attack, regardless of the Alien stalking Parker. But no player should have to assume.

Just confirmed with the publisher: For fleeing, the first player would flee, encountering any concealed tokens along the way. After that is complete, and even if the alien moves, the other player that was in the original space the Alien appeared in does still need to flee their 3 spaces.

(It wouldn't even need to be many words). You state rules in a manner in which anyone can understand. I'll post this on BGG FAQ verbatim to settle it once & for all. Overall, I wonder how people who don't know BGG exists for FAQ - on just about every game made these days - play rules out, interpret, make their own rules, or get frustrated and shelve games since there's some games that are egregiously bad. Wizkids D&D board games I'm looking at you. I've read enough board game reviews on retailer sites who mention game rule books can be poorly written. There might be unique situations that can't all be covered that's true. And the English language leaves something to be desired imho But it's like they play test games. But not the rules lol Admittedly rule books can't be easy to write. As you can see, I write a lot as a matter of explanation which probably wouldn't translate into rules that fit a page count. I've done graphic design, so I know how many people can actually work on a printed piece and not be on the same page (literally). Thanx again!

@@CollectionTHX1138 My guess is that most people just make up an answer - which is not something I'm as comfortable with, as I prefer to know the designer's intent (but I think we're a rare breed that way). Hello. I got this game as a Christmas present. I still have some doubts about the encounters with the alien: - As you are moving while fleeing the alien after an encounter, objectives can be completed along the way? - The alien encounters more than one player and while the first player flees, he causes the alien move again to a new position because of a concealed token. Do the rest of the players have to flee from the first position when the alien is not there anymore? I guess the answer should be NO, since doesn't make sense. Thanks a lot!!

Hey, thanks for the questions - here are the answers! For completing missions, you are technically able to do it while fleeing, as long as it does not require another action in that space (such as drop an item). For fleeing, the first player would flee, encountering any concealed tokens along the way. After that is complete, and even if the alien moves, the other player that was in the original space the Alien appeared in does still need to flee their 3 spaces.

I have a question! The cat carrier allows you to trap Jonesy. Can you then drop the cat carrier with Jonesy in it and leave him in a room somewhere so he doesnt bug you for the rest of the game? Under the Items heading: "Cat Carrier: If you reveal Jonesy, capture Jonesy underneath the cat carrier in your inventory. No action required." Under the Crew Action Phase heading: "Pick Up/Drop: You may use one action to pick up or drop . . . one item." The way I read it, you can drop Jonesy in the cat carrier.

Setup clarification: The setup picture in the rulebook shows some Concealed Tokens in places that are not listed as needing them for the starting setup. To be specific, the setup instructions does not say to add Concealed Tokens to the MU-TH-UR, Hypersleep, Airlock or Equipment Storage spaces, but in the setup picture those spaces appear to have one. I also just noticed that in the setup picture there is no Concealed Token in the Maintenance space despite the setup instructions stating there should be. Why is this? Is this simply to show that concealed tokens will randomly appear throughout the board during the game? Do concealed tokens need to be placed in these areas of the board during setup according to the picture? Am I just confused and those are not concealed tokens I'm seeing? Is this all just a setup picture error? I am betting that no matter what the picture shows I should only follow the setup's written instructions, but again I just want to be exactly sure. Thank you so much for clarifying!

Can you drop a coolant canister anywhere, or do you need to be in the workshop to do this? I know you need to drop in workshop to gain two scrap tokens but can’t find anywhere that clarifies if you can drop the canisters anywhere without gaining tokens.

You can pick up or drop items in your space. It's a general rule, so Coolant Cannisters aren't mentioned specifically, because they fall under the Item category. Hope that helps!

Three questions: 1.) On the player card, for example, the Electric Prod, states "it can be used even if it's NOT your turn." How is this possible? 2.) If I use the Motion Tracker in a room with BOTH the Alien AND a Concealed Token, and the token shows an Alien, how is this played out? 3.) Can certain items stack to DECREASE the Moral damage? Example, I have a Flashlight AND an Electric Prod. The Flashlight reduces by (1), and the Electric Prod reduces by (2). So Moral damage is reduced by 3? I know it states 'multiple Flashlights don't stack', so I was curious if the others do?

Hi Craig. 1) If the Alien encounters a crew member on another player's turn, the player holding the Electric Prod can still use it. 2) Place the Alien in that room (ie. leave it where it is). 3) Yes, different items can stack. Hope that helps!

Not sure if I completely understand the question, but let me share these two answers, and let me know if this covers it: Q: What do I do if I already have 1 Jones token in my Cat Carrier and another one appears? A: Treat it as a 'Safe' Conceal token, and place it in the cat carrier with the other. Q: Do you lose Morale when Jonesy is revealed in a space with a Crew Member holding the Cat Carrier? A: No, you don't.

Do you check for objective completion if you move into a room with the Alien figure? eg if the Alien is in the nest can you complete the "Encounter the Nest - Bring an incinerator to the Nest" by taking an incinerator in, then immediately doing your forced flee?

Hey Darren, you check for objective completion first. Then deal with alien/concealed tokens after. Sometimes you just have to face your fear to complete the task....then run!

Hi there! Great explanation. There is one confusion though in the rulebook regarding the motion detector / motion tracker : the memo for items card says it needs 2 scrap tokens to be crafted. But the rulebook says it needs 3 (and calls it a motion tracker). Which option seems right according to you? And regarding the objective cards, there are always as many as the number of players +1. Does it mean we can each freely choose one and / or even partially contribute to these objectives? Many thanks :)

Yeah, there was a typo between the rules and player aid, but the player aid is correct saying it costs 2 scrap. It does not matter who completes the objectives. It might be a single player who performs the action to complete each one, players are just working together to ensure each objective is completed successfully, so everyone is contributing in their own way, if you know what I mean.
