I've had similar concealment issues with alien gear products that both myself and a buddy of mine purchased. It seems to be an ongoing design issue of theirs. Which sucks, because they're making an attempt to correct issues that other holsters and belly bands are having. I would love alien gear if only it hid well on my body

THIS is the review I have been looking for on this Alien Gear Low-Pro. Concealment/printing was my biggest issue w/ a Springfield XD Sub... and I almost jumped on this. I ended up with the Crossbreed Modular belly band instead - not perfect, but the holster accommodated my red dot and printing is way less than Alien's. Thank You!

I second this, would love to see your thoughts. Addresses most issues since it uses a normal IWB holster and just essentially provides a belt not on your pants. That said, it does slide up. They have a newer model that is thinner than the original too.

Because of the way the cant is on this holster, and the nature of the hybrid design, a wedge isn't going to work the same way it would on a traditional holster. Adding a wedge to the muzzle end of this holster would essentially just add more distance between the band and my body. A wedge works on a traditional holster because its being placed up against a hard material, whereas with this it would be placed against a squishy material, so it would more or less just squish into the band creating an additional bulge :)

Not a single bit of that review was honest. She struggled like she was in an infomercial for another brand. I literally use the Low-Pro with a clunky SD-9 that isn't at all designed for concealment. I don't print and I have no problems drawing or holstering it. She maybe could have watched the short video for tips?

Hard to understand the thought process on this holster. I’m looks like something someone would want it they sat vehicle all day. Like maybe if you are a long haul trucker and only got out of the rig with a vest or coat on. The outer shell with stand off posts is also just weird. Sandwiching a full holster into the band seems like a better option. Party on belly bands

Idk if you have one already but if not I recommend the crossbreed modular system 2.0 belly band holster. They also have another belly band holster I believe they call it the liberty band. Both also feature a kydex holster with the band but draw is from straight up and down as you prefer. Crossbreed has great products

The Tactica is identical to this holster as they’re technically the same brand. Tactica is the female offshoot of Alien Gear. The only difference between the two is that the Tactica has a girlier pattern on the fabric. They’re functionally the same product.

I'm new to conceal carry and have not yet been able to find a belly band that i felt comfortable using. For many of the reasons she states. I feel like they are just waist trainers with a big hard glob hanging off the front that doesn't conceal anything at all. I wear dresses about 90% of the time in summer. Not shorts or pants so I dont have a belt to secure anything to. Why can't they put the kydex shell on the inside of the band so the band itself goes over the gun and keeps it secure to your body and helps conceal the shape? You could still have the grip sticking above the top edge of the band for easy draw. Im no engineer but it seems like the better way to make these.

I wouldn’t recommend this or anything carried behind the hip. Because of the way the body articulates when it bends and twists, it’s very difficult to reliably conceal a gun carried behind the hip. To recommend something for her I’d have to know a lot more about her, the way she dresses, her expectations, and what gun she’s carrying 🙂

I have their different belly band holster that’s just their 4.0 holster and a stand along belly band. It’s like a normal holster, pointing muzzle down. It’s ok, but I just ended up using discreet clips on a normal kydex holster. I wear it all the time in my house shorts.

I have tried that one also, and experienced fairly similar results that I had with their low pro bellyband. I think there may be a fundamental misunderstanding of how concealment works over at Alien Gear, which causes them to consistently miss the mark :/

I carry strong side concealed and I have to sweep my left hand across to my right side to properly lift my shirt. Is there any chance you're so used to appendix carry that you're lifting your shirt in the center when it might help to sweep your hand over further to aid in clearing the handle?

The Glock 42 is almost identical in size to the P365 and the Hellcat. The 42 has a similar barrel length to the P938 as well. If it conceals this poorly with the Glock 42, gun size isn't the problem, its product design :/

Nice job on the review. I have the alien gear low belly band. I carry a Ruger LC9 when on my motorcycle . I find it comfortable and easy to conceal. I agree that I wouldn’t consider that holster for my Glock 23 or my Ruger P89. Thx for an honest and straightforward review, that being said I’m happy with mine.

Great review, as always! From positioning, it looks like it should be for 3-4 o’clock carry, but the same issues of concealment would still exist. I bought Aliengear Shapeshifter package for my 1st holster “mix pack” along with a belly band that those holsters clip to - they’re OK, but glad to see I’m not the only one w/ bellyband concealment issues :)

I have this for my little ruger lcp 380 and do love it. I don't have problem with the draw but I'm not wearing it so far off center as you demonstrated. that said, it does print more than my enigma that I use for my 9m, but I wear it with loose tops, dresses, and usually light jacket

Hi, You said something in this video that provoked a question. You said that you were worried that if you were carrying a toddler their foot could push down on the pistol's grip partly dislodging the pistol from the holster. Nearly all the holsters I've seen you demonstrate / wear on your channel are inside waistband appendix carry, worn with a good cover garment. If you are carrying a toddler when wearing such a holster, how do you draw your pistol?

Theres a lot of nuisances that come with answering that question. How you draw can differ depending on how you're holding the child and how old they are. If you're having to draw your gun while carrying your child on your hip? You'd want to drop the child (there are solid techniques for doing this quickly and safely) and draw your gun, or use your strong hand to draw as you drop the child. If the child is in a front baby carrier, and you can't access your gun quickly AIWB, then you'd want to prioritize carrying the child elsewhere or moving the holster to your strong side before getting into a scenario where you'd need to draw your gun. If you're a parent, and those types of scenarios are something you want to learn more about I would strongly suggest you look into taking the next Armed Parent/Guardian class near you. I’ve seen students show up to class wearing this, and they also struggled not only with concealment, but access. The student was eventually removed from the line and given a loaner gun and holster. Just because you don’t like how I reviewed a product you’re using, doesn’t mean that I am a liar 😊👍🏻

This was an awesome review, I was getting ready to buy two of these belly bands for two of my Glock’s, I’m not sure if you answer questions here but I guess my question would be what other choices do we have if we wear shorts with elastic bands. That’s the only time I would use a belly band but I do wear shorts without a belt very often.

‘Puts your gun out of battery’ ?? Do you not use the “thumb on the back of the slide” technique to keep your gun in battery when holstering ??

I keep my thumb on the back of the slide in order to use the striker control device. Your holsters retention should not be so tight that it can physically move your gun out of battery. I was just showing that the retention came so tight from the manufacturer that I couldn't physically holster the gun with any reasonable amount of effort.

I think ideally you can’t set it up in the same position as appendix carry. That first clip would bring more success a bit further over like a cross draw. centers on the naval or even further. But sweet video it’s nice to see people talking about this holster. I’ve been curious and haven’t been able to find too many videos on it yet.

Well, dang! I really liked the look of the Tactica and had considered buying one. The angle of the holster seemed ideal for me because my right shoulder doesn't think it needs to operate to let my arm into position to draw straight up out of either a regular bellyband or even a holster on the waistband. (Just wait... you'll get old and find out about crappy joints, LOLOL!) So, I'm curious what you might suggest for my problem. I have a Springfield SA-XD, a S&W M&P Shield and just recently got a Taurus PT22 because I thought it'd be easier to conceal on my kind of small frame. (Unfortunately, it turns out I'm not real fond of that one because it has a very heavy trigger pull and wears my hand out in no time at all)

@@tessahbooth Thanks for the suggestion and the link! The strength thing really isn't the problem, it's strictly the position required to get hold of the grip. I had thought about the Flashbang before but wondered if it isn't awfully hard on your bra, LOL! Just seems like A) the bulk and weight of the gun would stretch out the band; &/or B) drawing your gun would really stretch that band. I mean, obviously, if you're drawing for a good reason, your bra is the least of your worries, but seems like practicing your draw could cause the stretching. (If there's 1 thing I hate, it's bra shopping so I try to avoid having to do it more often that absolutely needed. ;-) ) Obviously, a lot of women love their Flashbangs, so I'm guessing that I'm wrong in my worries, right? Anyway, in the time since I'd first considered a Flashbang, I'd forgotten about them entirely, so thank you for reminding me!

This is the first time I have seen your channel, have you tried the sport tuck belly band by Alien Gear? One thing I like about it is you can pretty much use any cc holster with it, I use my Tier 1 appendix holster and it holds it closer to my body than this Low Pro that you have demonstrated.

Humm..., Now you have me rethinking this holster COMPLETELY. I've pocket carried forever. Great deep concealment but hate giving up a dedicated pocket. I'm personally against open carry, it's just a "thing". I'm also "weird" when it comes to IWB. I personally can't wear a hat and I hate wearing a tie. It a "constriction" thing. Pocket carry has always been my "regular" thing. When I saw this I felt like I hit the lottery. I've lots of different holsters and a few different bellybands but none have met my needs or comforter level. I'm really glad I watched your video. It's very honest and not one sided. Hi again. Just watched your "holster box of shame" video. Lots of good tips and things to consider. I especially like the way you equate fitting for a holster is like fitting for a prosthetic. It's soo true. I tell people it's like buying a good pair of shoes for different environments and different jobs. Buying the right gun is the easy part... Buying the holster..., Not so much! Your video must be one of the best I've seen on belly bands. Really brought out issues that need to be shown. Great Job!! One question though. Most of the women using a bellyband videos show it as you did with it above the belt line while men seem to have it inside the pants. Could you share your reason for above the waist? If I want to go inside the pants might as well use an iwb holster while if I don't want to buy new expensive pants with a larger waist to handle an iwb, I'd prefer the belly band above the waist. Thanks!!

Unless your pants are 1) too tight to begin with 2) have absolutely no stretch to them, you should be able to carry IWB without buying new pants. I think ladies tend to carry their guns up higher for a couple of reasons, and those reasons don't ring true for every gal out there, since we all have such differing shapes. -One reason is because we have a tactical shelf that, when paired with fabric drape, can conceal a gun that is sitting just below that shelf. -Another reason is because every body has natural peaks and valleys, and a lot of female body shapes are smaller in the midsection and larger down on the hips. A Gun will conceal much better when placed in the bodies natural valleys. -Lastly, it can just be a lot more comfortable. The natural waist for a lot of ladies is up higher than mens, which is why a lot of us find high waisted pants much more comfortable. I think you need to get a thinner gun maybe like a M&P Shield or a Hellcat pro. I think you'd have a better outcome with a different gun and thank you for making this video of the belly bands you defineately gave me insight in which ones to not get. I love all of my Alien Gear holsters and I have 4 of them for my 3 CC guns

This is hilarious!! Had to watch it again... you look like one of those actors in TV advertisements where they can't even open a jar and have to act totally helpless and inept. The only thing I know for sure is that I had none of the problems you have and it is amazing how well the Alien Gear Belly Band works concealing my clunky SD-9 and how easy it is to holster. No way it will be kicked out by my daughter, even if she is having a seizure when I hold her. I can literally run and wrestle with it on. I am amazed that you have so little respect for yourself that you think you can't just tuck it like any other holster... but that is just one of a TON of things that make me show this review to my friends so they too can howl with laughter at your antics!

You need the Alien Gear Sport Tuck Belly Band. It uses the normal Alien Gear Cloak Tuck Holster but it is hanging inside of the elastic strap. That will take care of pretty much every complaint you had with this particular model of belly band.

I agree with everything you said for the most part. The problem I have is the solution. You don't offer one. Your right when you say the bellyband holsters aren't as good but what do you wear when most of your attire is sweat pants or basketball shorts. I don't think there's another alternative than the bellyband. Thoughts? Good video BTW

Why would you use a bellyband in a class setting? They are for CCW. Also large guns are difficult to conceal with just a tshirt no matter what you use except for BWB holster with baggy pants. BTW how do you like sitting or getting in and out of a car with that Beretta and IWB holster?

Why wouldn't she use it in a class setting? Part of the point of training is to pressure test your equipment and techniques. If you're running a completely different set of gear for the firing line, that's probably a sign that your training needs a reality check.

That carry angle is for a weaver stance to be effective. A regular cross draw-type would be much safer. That type of position is much more suitable to a revolver anyway.

At 1:24 I was thinking "Just move it more to the left so your shirt wouldn't get caught as easily." and then I realized at 3:18 what that would look like. Not only is it unsafe for anyone to my left, it also can potentially make the grip stick out more (especially if you have a dad bod lol) Then when you pointed out the movement at 3:38, that was the point of no return for me. I'm going to be a dad later this year, and the last thing I need to worry about is my kid kicking my gun out of the holster. Sigh. Have you checked out Alien Gear's other Sport Tuck belly band? I like that you can use your own kydex holster and it's angled straight up, so it should theoretically eliminate a few issues that the Low-Pro has.

To be fair to the product, you are supposed to wear it farther down with the band semi tucked into your pants. This would help with the printing issue you mentioned, as well as the awkwardness of the draw angle because it would work better from a lower position.

I also have the greyman mini, and it's an awesome trigger guard :) It didn't come with a clip that works without a belt though, so I replaced it with a discreet carry concept clip!

I suspect this holster is actually much better on a man's frame. The IWB holster is typically able to pivot in because the claw can push against your belt, and this is why a good belt is valuable for CCW. the wedge trades more printing below the waistline for less printing above the waistline. That just happens to be a favorable exchange.

This holster doesn't work lie a tradition IWB holster, and doesn't have any concealment features like a wing or the ability to add a wedge. Although men and women are VERY different, our concealment solutions really aren't as different as some might think.
