Whats this obsession with Aliens building with obsidian. When Steel and Concrete is much better and easier .

No offence, but it was a comparison describing their ships were as black as obsidian. Either a different metalic alloy or black paint to conceal their ships in space.

It's why when I wrote hfy I always described vessels as "opaque", a distinct lack of color. It makes sense in a way, to reflect radiation and better deal with extreme heat loss and transfer.

@darkerdaemon7794 I was only winding you up mate .I wouldn't expect Aliens to use Steel and concrete, even humans are starting to use Carbon fibre and other materials are coming through like Grathene although I must admit to be disappointed in the Slow uses of it since it's discovery. That's probably more to do with the British University focus on the Science .Than commercial application of the Science.

It’s a descriptor. Go google a picture of an obsidian dagger…it has a distinct appearance.
