There is this one Comic Con panel appearance where everyone of the core cast plus James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd were telling little stories about the shoot. And one story about Carrie that Cameron tells us is my favourite: When Newt is coccooned and about to be "facehuggered", as James Cameron puts it, he saw to it personally that Carrie was covered in goo. So he applied it to her himself. In the middle of that she looks at him and says with her tiny voice (and a slight British accent): "You know, it should be illegal for you to be able to do that to little kids..."

Hudson was never really a coward, he was just pissed because he only had 4 weeks left on his tour of duty, and he just wanted to go home. Also, he didn't want to die this way, to a bunch of alien bugs on a lifeless planet in the middle of nowhere. He was caught off guard in the hive and felt helpless, but when given the chance to defend himself, he chose to fight and it didn't matter anymore if he lived or died, he at least wanted a fighting chance to die an honorable death... He may have been cocky, but be did indeed back up his words, and for his gallant bravery in battle he will always be remembered as "The Ultimate Bad@ss" :)

@@mayaandgareth you know what's really scary, although I admit it's a different type of scary, is "The Day After"....it was a TV movie on ABC in 1983....it depicts what happens in a small town in the midwest the day after a total nuclear war....it influenced Reagan's thoughts on nuclear arms, and motivated him to get more aggressive arms reduction treaties. Of course, we are STILL on a nuclear hair trigger vs Russia and China, this did not end in the 90s (I served on a Trident submarine 1999 to 2003, I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of a nuclear warhead aboard either submarine I served on). The British version is called "threads", and it goes a little bit further into the future, showing how human culture slowly erodes back to the stoneage after a nuclear war. Both profoundly disturbing. 😲

@mayaandgareth5 ай бұрын
Thats a really good point, they do a really good job of selling how manipulative the Company is
@michaelccozens4 ай бұрын
@@mayaandgareth There's also a whole level on which Cameron intended this as a Vietnam War parallel. Gorman, the green, incompetent Lieutenant who gets his soldiers killed by attempting to stick too rigidly to theoretical protocols in one extreme and acting with incredible arrogance that he's presumably mistaken for "confident leadership" in the other, was a common complaint amongst Americans in Vietnam (sometimes leading to incidents of "fragging", or deliberately killing an incompetent officer with a grenade thrown "accidentally" too short), it being the last time the US fielded a "conscript army" (arguably, depending on how you define Dubya's extensive abuse of "stop loss" in the 2003 invasion of Iraq). Lots of other parallels and details, down to the look of the Marin'es' gear. Bill Paxton's somewhat over-the-top character is part of that; full of bravado and overconfidence in his advanced weaponry before contact, quickly reduced to horror and terror upon encountering an enemy truly willing to die rather than surrender (by some estimates, the North Vietnamese lost 10-20 soldiers for every American killed, giving them possibly 1 million casualties from direct combat alone. They still won).
@michaelccozens4 ай бұрын
@@mayaandgareth This movie actually has some plot-holes there. Presumably the Company had some inkling of the existence of the Alien, or they wouldn't have preloaded the protocols into MOTHER (recalling that MOTHER had no outside contact once in deep space, so all routines would have to have been programmed long before the Nostromo ever set sail) or snuck Ash as a secret-robot sleeper-agent into the crew of what was, for all anyone else knew, an extremely-routine cargo delivery. But, here, the Company seems to know nothing about it, to the extent that any knowledge of the Alien or its presence on LV426 for at least the last 60 years had to come from Ripley, thus triggering the outbreak via Burke's actions. There's all kinds of potential backstories, but the fact that none are even considered is... odd. It's not movie-wrecking, but it's similar to the plot-holes Cameron introduced and hand-waved away in T2.
