It does make sense that when they have other features to focus on less goes into the occults. I'm not saying I don't want a revamp though.

i use 2 mods for plantsims- one that allows you to make a permanent plantsim, and one that adds a bunch of special plantsim-only interactions with sims and objects. combined with the base feature of unique needs, they're no werewolves, but it makes plantsims fun

With how little Aliens actually get power-wise, I've found playing up the whole disguise bit to be the most entertaining aspect. Made an alien who was sent to Earth to spy, she basically started a Gentleman's club for the rich elite (drinking, card tables.) She eventually fell in love with her butler. Planned a big wedding at a local club, only for her to autonomously erase his memory right before they were going to walk down the aisle. I didn't even see it happen, and I tried to have them get married anyway. In the end she ran home in her big wedding dress during a thunderstorm. I went with it, saying that her Alien superiors found out and threatened his life if she continued the relationship. She still had to live with him as her butler though.

that's crazy... my alien sim was married with a kid to another sim (who was then abducted by aliens and had another kid LOL) for around a full sims year, they were deep in love, and then out of nowhere my alien sim autonomously memory erased his husband... i built back up their relationship and thought it was fine and then almost immediately after he memory erases him again lmao

It's kind of funny how hard they tried to balance certain abilities and items in the early game with all those cooldowns (e.g. these alien powers, the wishing well etc.) then at some point they just gave up and started slamming down OP features like dust bunnies that bring you 10k plates.

However, it’s been 9 years since they released and they definitely could have added more to them by this point. But they are still exactly the same as they were when they released. Aliens and mermaids are the most boring occults in the sims. Like the lack of a skill tree really hinders them so much. Mermaids definitely are the better of the two though. At least you get a bar telling you if your low on your occult specific need. And controlling the weather with singing is fun.

I agree, aliens need a lot more. They were short-changed, but with the Crystal Creations pack, their powers can be enhanced. Also, while my sim went to the Geek Con she got the crystal seed after winning a race in the rocket ship. She also got one while fishing at the Desert Bloom park. Just by growing those trees and selling crystals (charged or not) you can get rich from that.

They won’t do that because it was really difficult to sell MFPS on console because they don’t allow DLC for DLC. But they could do the Sims 3 Vampires route and just include an improved version of the occult in another pack.

My personal Occult Sim "Tier List" (snort) goes like this: *Top Tier* Spellcaster - imagine not playing with cheats but still feeling like a cheater. *High Tier* Vampire - you don't age, don't need to sleep and don't need to take bathroom breaks... And then you get super powers. *Mid Tier* Werewolf - they get some fun stuff but no real "advantage". Plus, they look like they're wearing furry costumes. Ghost - the poor simmer's vampire. *Low Tier* Mermaids - the Aquaman experience from the "Batman Fires Aquaman" skit. *Losers' Club* Aliens - the true feeling of an EA customer: we get nothing but it costs us everything.

Tbh, it's an unpopular opinion but I like how non-invasive aliens and mermaids are. Sometimes I'm bored by the normal sims and wanna spice things up, but I don't want to deal with xp and levels and skill trees. Aliens have gotta be my favorite occult type, mostly for this reason. They are unique and have interesting abilities and characteristics that blend into normal interaction and gameplay. It feels more natural than dealing with grinding for xp or going out of my way to do 'occulty things'. These two types might have less content and I would love it if they had a refresh, but I like how simple they are.

Sadly, unlike the other occults in the Sims 4, there really isn't a working mod for Aliens. There is an incredible one for Mermaids (and even adds loads more) and one that adds witches and fairies. One that changes Unicorns to just... be better. Werewolf mods etc. Nothing that works for Aliens, unfortunately. There's even stuff to make Plantsims more interesting.

I remember aliens in the sims 3, they were waaay more fun than in the sims 4. We could literally summon a meteor with them, that could create a giant hole in the middle of the world you were playing. You could also take your spaceship and cause chaos on a public lot, and everybody would start screaming and running away. OMG I love that!

We need a massive update to revamp the lesser occults. Plant Sims, Aliens, Mermaids. Like they keep plant sims so secretive and I dislike that the plant sim thing is only temporary for the player while in the sims 3 they were plant sims their entire lives and you could get plant sim babies from the special seeds you PLANTED IN POT like you GREW YOUR BABYYY !! Aliens need some sort of skill tree!! Really ANYTHING will be an improvement to their current state. They’re basically just a normal sim with a pinch of difference. Mermaid deserved skill trees and I am still so disappointed they didn’t give it to us. They could go a good or evil route and be good sweet mermaid or go full evil siren vibes and drown people.

Aliens are an occult and the game doesn't support hybrid occults. So you can only be one occult at a time in most cases. I say most cases, because it is possible to get a hybrid Sim but hybrids are glitchy because they're not an intended thing. I think really the only way to get them is through cheating and rarely through pregnancy (so for example if you had an alien and a spellcaster have children you have the potential to end up with an alien spellcaster child that way)

Yeah you need mods to be more than one type of occult. Unless glitches happen. I got vampire/mermaid hybrids once. They were mermaids but they had the vampire needs except for hydration instead of hygiene. They burned in the sun but didn't have rhe vampire skill tree to eventually get sun immunity. They were interesting.

When you have the high maintenance trait and do the wellness aspiration you can get a trait to help. But doing yoga and meditation helps too! High maintenance Sims also love wearing the masks from the Spa day pack.

I agree with everything you are saying about Aliens, but what is frustrating is, I don't think they are gonna get that revamp. I think they are as good as they are gonna get. It was so easy to revamp spa day. It's not gonna be that easy to revamp an old occult. So, I don't think it's gonna happen. So we just have to get creative. I did a game play with aliens where they moved in with a nerd sim and learned about the earth from him. Their goal was to build a rocket to go home. The nerd fell in love with the girl alien and got married and had alien kids. I still have that game going. I use all the occults on a regular basis and still come up with new things. So it is possible. The Gallery and Tumblr are a huge help!

I hope they'll consider revamping those, like they do for the base game so that it's compatible for new features, etc. If you have the packs for aliens, you can get stuff upgraded next time you log into the game, and if you don't, it doesn't affect your game until you buy those packs, etc. Aliens SHOULD have skill trees & ability gauges specific to them (& mermaids), just like the other occult folks do!

The fun part of playing with aliens is "discovering" them by going to Sixam or being abducted and having an alien baby, once you have an alien in your house the gameplay moves on to a new generation and you just occasionally have a parent with an unusual appearance.
