A friend of mine told me about his experiences when he was on missions. Not a lot of specifics. Things like: NO CHEWING GUM - the enemy could smell it. No tobacco - same reason. Digging a 'cat hole' for defecation so you left nothing above ground. Urinating laying down so you didn't make any noise. No splashing sounds. Eating the same food so you smelled the same as the enemy.

Fun story. My husband was in the British Army and they were out there somewhere on patrol at night. They stopped for a break, it was hot, humid and they were tired and my husband decided to sit on a log. Afore mentioned log moved, but, not as high or as fast as my husband. 😂🤣

The trip to the first extraction point took them across a rope bridge that was a strategic bottleneck, one at a time crossing. Why, when the Zormath were following them and attempting to cross that rope bridge, didn't they blow the bridge? The author is no tactician. Impede the pursuit, break supply chains.....duh.
