21:35 ; lose the cage, attach an 80mm or two 40mm to the front and use non-flammable tape (or a custom plexi/metal plate) to seal off the rest of the holes. The extra holes reduce the amount of thrust your pull fans can create. I also oriented the fan all the way towards the motherboard side so that the air isn't being pushed onto the bulky PSU mount, but pushing all the way to the back of the case. Great vid!!

Just happened that i rebuild my Alienware R10 Aurora Ryzen edtion a few months ago. the tower came with the water cooling system, upgraded to a ryzen 7 5800X cpu and a RTX 3070 "DELL" GPU. with the stock fans in there, they were pretty loud when it came to play games at full resolution. did a lot of research and decided to put in 4 Noctua Fans in there and just like you did, i did the push pull set up on the radiator and 2 other fans at the front case. i bought the tower used and i know it is over kill, but it came with a 1000 Watt Power supply. also put in a new thermal paste on the new cpu and new thermal pads for the voltage regulators. what use to run at 52deg C on idle, is now down to 28-29 deg C on idle. i haven't seen that machine running any hotter than 75 deg C. i also did the same process on putting a thermal pads and paste on the GPU and the temperature dropped dramatically from 90 to 75 Deg C. So it is definitely worth doing all that work. Great video and keep on the good work. =)

Just bought one of these for $1249 on Best Buy, says that the computer is $600 off and it's also the Dark Moon Model which is great. The system comes with these parts. AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800 (8-Core, 36MB Total Cache, Max Boost Clock of 4.6GHz) Processor AMD® Radeon™ RX 6800 XT 16GB GDDR6 Graphics 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot) + 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage) 16GB Single Channel DDR4 XMP at 3400MHz Memory High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling and 1000W Power Supply. Glad to see that I got some of the better features in my build, but definitely gonna replace the fans with the quieter ones you mentioned in this video and add another 16 GB of the same RAM, even tho it's like $195 from Dells Official Website. This was a great video and I like how you went into detail and explained everything.

I was shopping a new 3060 GPU and I ended up getting a r10 during the GPU price craze. It has the Ryzen 5 5600x, 3060ti, and was already liquid cooled out of the box. I bumped the RAM to 32gb, and have not had any issues. I may eventually add or replace a fan

For others that try this, I was able to get the radiator out of the top without removing the CPU cooler, heatsinks, or memory sticks. I just wiggled it out of the top - being very careful of the tubes - then I unscrewed the fan and installed two Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM fans in push/pull. The nice thing is that these fans are much thinner than the stock fan, so both of them take up just a little more space than the stock fan. The top fan is now running at 35% 60C and the front fan at 27% 60C. The only issue is right now my front fan stays at 27% (according to Command Center), but the top fans are varying their speed from 35-45%.

Very interesting stuff. Can you describe a little more precisely how you exactly installed the push/pull setup? Did you just take off the top cover and wiggle out the radiator without unscrewing the fan? Did you use the a cable splitter? Did you have to get longer screws?

@@geoffroydelmotte1141 Yes. I pulled off the top and unscrewed the fan. Then I was able to wiggle it out past the heat sinks and cpu. I rotated it gently to unscrew the fan from the radiator. The screw holes for the Noctua fans had some plastic that was blocking the original fan screws since the head on them is a little wide. I took a pair of needle nose pliers and broke away the plastic so the screws would fit. I was able to find some longer screws that I had around with the same threading as the screws that were removed from the top. They just need to be a little longer than the Noctua fan is thick. I did use the cable splitter.

Hello. You didn't need to take the top panel off. The area your AIO and fans go in is actually a removeable bracket. If you look at your farthest left ram stick (to the right of the CPU) and then look directly forward you'll see a single screw. Remove that screw and the entire cage will slide out. You'll have to remove the CPU power cable for clearance and un-route that cable from the cable management guides (there are two, one plastic, one metal) and out of the way. The 2nd screw for the cage is from the original fan bracket you unscrewed which connects to the left side of the cage.

I just got my r10 about 3-4 weeks ago... it's 5900x rx6800xt 512m.2 1t hard drive and 16gb ram 3200 and 1000watt power supply... it was 2400 plus tax. I love it... I've been playing 2077 in 1440p @60p (TV is only 60hz) everything high as the setting will go. The temps stay in the low 80s. I personally couldn't have asked for more. the fans stay around 2,800 to 3000 RPM. it doesn't really bother me you can hear it in the background but I don't think it's worth replacing. Someday after my warranty is up... I'm going to take all the parts out of this one and build the case that I like. I don't have anything against this case but I would love to see my components. What I can't figure out is if I should get two more sticks of RAM on the two empty slots... if it'll help or not? FYI this is my first computer... well I guess I have an old laptop but that has a very specific function. I only use it for automotive applications.

You may disagree but I am personally not bothered at all by the Alienware stock fans. I got a liquid cooled Ryzen 5900x and a RTX 3080 in the R10 and with some simple settings with AWCC I can use the computer just fine for normal things and it is basically silent (thermal set to Quiet and power set to Power Save) . When I play a game I set it to switch automatically to Performance Mode and yes, that's when the fans become a bit noisy but 1) I use headphones when I play and 2) I know that AWCC is using the fans properly. GPU does not go above 75C (in July, UK) and the CPU does not go above 60C. The fans on the Alienware r10 can reach 4000rpm so going for slower fans and let AWCC manage them without tweaking the profiles properly will just let them go even slower. As AWCC is set for 4000rpm fans, 50% of it is 2000rpm. Replacing them with 1700rpm fans will mean that 50% of it is 850rpm and that is not necessarily good. Less noise, yes, but with this case having poor airflow is bad. That's why I will ONLY add an additional Noctua Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM (yes, industrial) in the HDD slot, leaving the stock fans where they are. This fan is not the quietest, but it is the nearest I can get in terms of rpm. I looked for other 4000rpm fans but they are just not made for desktops (like the Dell stock ones) so they will add a lot of noise. Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM is instead perfect for this. I feel there is a lack of airflow on the top side (which dell fixed on the new Aurora models), so this justifies adding this fan. I may, if needed, add an additional fan to the top radiator as push pull solution, but the CPU temps are just fine now so it is not a priority.

Definitely awesome video Ivan, thank you for your time and efforts to show it here so everyone can get great benefit of it!! Just got a couple of questions regarding the fans and RAMs upgrade: 1. Would you mind to let me know what brand & model of the fan are you using to replace the HDD slot? I’ve read the comments that you’ve put the 80mm stock CPU fan in it, but 92mm will work too. So what is the brand & model your fan in the HDD slot? 2. Regarding all the fans connection, although I’ve connected all them but I’m a bit unsure. First of all, like in your video I replaced front, top and AIO stock fans with 3 Corsair ML120 Pro fans. Then I used 2 Y-splitters from Noctua, one connects top fan & AIO fan then plugging into “Top Fan” on motherboard, another one connects front fan & added HDD slot fan then plugging into “Front Fan” on motherboard. For the short cable comes from AIO pump, it connects to “Pump Fan” on motherboard. I’ve also notice this leaves “CPU Fan” port on motherboard vacant. Would you please confirm this is the correct set-up? Thank you so much.
@HardwareSense
@HardwareSense 2 жыл бұрын
The HDD cage fan is the stock CPU fan, any 80mm or 92mm would work. The top 2 fans on the AIO should be in the CPU Fan PWM plug and the front in the Front fan plug, AIO Pump in the Pump plug.

@@RichardMoreno24 I can change settings in AWCC to make them spin up. And they also spin up as needed while playing intensive games/vr. Is that helpful what you're asking? The front fan has no issues at boot. But now that I have 2 fans on top (push/pull) with Noctua splitter, they "fail" the bios test at boot. It may be the whole splitter thing that causing the error. Maybe a single fan would pass bios test? Performance-wise they seem to work as expected though.

Excellent information overall .. I am guessing you couldn't add the watercooling as a option with that sale price so you had to go thru some hoops to get that all up and going. Not sure the push/pull is doing all that much more considering the temps you are getting from just the normal LC cooling. Mine will hit 77c (ish) if i let it and leave everything at stock. I use the Ryzen master software though to undervolt taking it to 4.1GHZ all core at 1.2V (3700x) and it never hits 70 degrees. First off, thank you for this. It helped me with the process a lot Question though; after swapping out the radiator fan for the push/pull configuration I am now not getting any spin on either fan. The actual water block seems to be working fine but no fan operation. I've checked the inputs and they all seem to be fully plugged in If it's worth noting, I also replaced the front fan and added one in the HDD slot and they are working fine. @@terrellwright7565 I played around with it for a while, and it's working for the most part, changing the voltage only will drop the frequency to 3600mhz on all cores, so you would need to adjust that as well, when I put it at 4.4ghz as max on all cores, the temps are too high, higher than what I have have by default with PBO enabled.

I added a push pull with two ML 120 Pro and the Alienware AIO cooler yesterday and my R10 is so much quieter with CPU temperatures dropping 20 to 30 degrees depending on the workload! Thank you very very much for your tutorial! However, I did not a add a second front fan and just swapped the lower front fan with another ML 120 Pro. I plugged it on the Front fan connector but on startup I get a diagnostic check failure telling me the front fan is not recognized. THe PC will boot normally after the diagnostic check, and the front fan works normally. Do you know if this diagnostic check on startup is normal or if there is a workaround? IT's just annoying to wait a few minutes now to address the diagnostic before being able to use the PC. HOwever, again, thank you for your help temperatures are crazy low now!

I'm sure this is for above 1080P gaming, but I have the ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 XT config and honestly it's the coolest pc I've owned when it comes to temps. I guess there's a lot of different reasons temps could be an issue for some, but everything I've played my graphics card stays around 60C and my cpu's highest was like 72C. Once again, I know a lot of things factor into temp issues for some.

I just installed this exact module. Dell sent me a a liquid cooling module "assembly" heatsink was in the description by the way. I got everything installed and I got the critical error heatsink clips not installed. My whole system was also making some crazy noise I can't explain. I triple checked every fan and the positioning of every component and I did the installation perfect. I'm not sure why it made the sound. Anyway, I contacted dell and they are sending a technician out to install the heatsinks and check "my" installation of the liquid cooling module. The tech was convinced that I did something wrong and that's what created the sound lol.

To touch further on this I bought a "refurbished" liquid cooling module from Dell and the explained to the salesman that I had a air cooled system. Admittedly I didn't think think about the heatsinks for the side and back with the module setup. In my defense I feel the salesman should have known that the rig I had didn't have heatsinks other than the one under the CPU fan and should have atleast tried to sell me some or include the ones that the assembly stated came with the liquid cooling module.

@@HardwareSense Yes, that one, I have an alienware R11 and there was one BIOS update last week, in any case I am happy with the upgrade, thank you very mucho for you video and help the only issue now is how I can disable that check at the boot or find out how to solve it, I do not know if it is an adaptor issue, I saw on internet that some people said that the dell 4 pin mother board connector is not standard and that is why I have this issue, I contacted Noctua support and they told me this = Unfortunately systems from Dell, HP, Lenovo and other big OEMs are often diverting from standards set by Intel or AMD by subtle details, and thus we cannot guarantee that any of our coolers or fans are compatible with such systems. In your case, I don't think that the pin-configuration is an issue here, but rather that pre-built systems often require a minimum-RPM from fans. That means that a fan-error could result out of f.ex. one of our fans spinning at a low speed, which your system detects as "faulty" because it doesn't expect an RPM that low. Sadly, replacing fans in pre-built systems often proves to be quite difficult, and I'm sorry that we can't provide you with an easy solution that will resolve this issue.
