At a time I bought from wish. They all sold sd card at varying price but they all contained 32 MB. So you pay more in the illusion of getting a different product. It's just the same garbage. Luckily on wish I proved it was faulty and got refunded.

Ha! Nailed it. I’ve been following these scam laptops for a few months. There’s never any reviews. But the product has an option marked US keyboard, so I figured that’s what is shipped. My only guess as to why no reviews is that people got refunds and the system would no longer allow them to write a review. Looks like one of those $6 portable Bluetooth keyboards.

The returns system is excellent, you hit refund/return and you tell them the problem ie wrong item sent i ordered a laptop and received this keyboard, take a pic of the keyboard and upload it and a few hours later you will get your money back. Ive bought loads of stuff off aliexpress and been very happy with most of it but with ultra cheap stuff, yes rogue sellers do pop up but within days their stores are removed and you always get your money refunded.

I think the problem with these shops is that these are people who don't speak the specific language, in that case English and use a translation tool to set up those advertisements and so they end up taking wrong translations, because they have nobody that knows better and counter checks the translation, so that they write "Laptop" instead of Keyboard (for a laptop) and so on and general lack certain knowledge like that they meant to put up 256 GB and not 256 TB. Especially because languages like Chinese has lots of letter that can have a variety of meaning, depending how you set them up/pronounce it, something that the translation tool they have can't properly translate to and so the ads are full of spelling errors.

Always test anything you intend to plug into your critical equipment with quarantine devices. Better yet, plug it into Linux machine first 😂 Buying minipc with pre-installed Windows? Scan it thoroughly, reinstall the system, scan again (never knows what malice hides on-board and gets loaded with BIOS). Everything can be tested in one way or another, if you're worried about random HDMI cable injecting malware into your PC, you have just as high chances of getting one from Amazon 🤷🏻

An example from real life, fans for AirPort Extreme, bought 4 pcs., none, had no right to operate, the customer did not send back, garbage remained.... I fixed, greased and the original works. I keep watching, if I could - I would ban. In a sense, this is happening, for example from the tax side.

An easy rule of thumb when buying things off AliExpress is not to buy anything that has to with or includes storage of some kind whether that be sd cards , ram or hard drives

In my experience NVMe in 2230 size are mostly legit. But it also makes sense because they're not for retail and are OEM only otherwise. Got a few Samsung PM991a (512GB-1TB) and WD SN770X (2TB) and they turned out to be legit and up to spec. Working 2 years with no issues so far, and may it continue 🙏🏻😅

Well, I bought 3 sd cards from AliExpress, claiming they're 32GB, they say they're SanDisk, I'm aware they might not be real SanDisk, but at least the storage is real 32GB, 31GB usable after testing them with F3 in Linux. Still, yeah, you gotta be very extra careful if you buy in AliExpress

I bought some beads off AliExpress but the beads were perfect but when the package came it look like someone took a sneak peak inside it was ripped a bit but everything came. When I looked at the beads the box to put the beads actually broke.

quiet often they have multiple "versions" you have to pick from, the cheap item is something irrelevant that costs $1 and they price it $2. the other options give the real items, which often are more expensive than if you buy it elsewhere. and of course there's the straight up scams where they don't have the real thing.

Darn I was hoping you'd go through the return process. Any online merchant can have a bad seller, but it's the followup, customer service and consumer protection that's really important. I hear peeps in online forums saying (in general) aliexpress is legit, but it's hard to believe and I'd like more info/investigation into them. They have a few items I can only really get from them directly (mostly android based smart watch, not wear os) at a reasonable price.

It's a hurdle to get money back from Ali but getting it back as currency to spend again on Ali seems to be a non-issue in my experience. Most of these sellers either can't speak English in any meaningful capacity or don't care so good luck getting aftermarket support from the seller specifically. Often for some weirder components (like BMS for battery pack) had no documentation whatsoever and it's worked out by some users on some obscure forums or Reddit). Also never sent anything back but I suspect you may end up with no item or money or at best pay a lot for round trip delivery costs and months in waiting 😂

Most of the flash drives on there are in exfat and probably not what they claim to be in specs. Very very slow and rarely copy all your data correctly. Better of buying a known brand as most of these are not that expensive nowdays

Got a 12$ 256gb sd card from temu, it was a sd card, plug it in, it said it was 256gb, but when you copy to it, it starts out fast, then slows down, then slower, then slower, then into the bytes per second. I think it had like 1gb (or even less), and they used firmware to throttle it so you could never really find out it was only 1gb. Tricky.

AliExpress or Alibaba suppose to do it In a way were by the buyer would only pay shipping fee to the AliExpress or Alibaba then when the package gets to a nearby were house near the buy then the buy can check if it is what he or she ordered if it is then the payment weill be made to the seller. The buyer can only check the package in the where house

I must admit I have bought many things on ali express......some a few hudred dollars. (car diagnosis stuff etc). To date never been disappointed and all legit.
