The conquest bfs cast a lot better than people think, yes it’s a round reel and yes the level wind guide is closer on it than a low profile reel. But that doesn’t really hold it back much. I was casting 1 gram with it yesterday very effectively with the avail spool.

You did find out something important. That the bigger line guide and .2 G lighter spool do NOT make a meanignful difrerence in casting distance. Remember that I was not able to see a significant, repeatable, difference in casting distance between my Lingl 7.2 vs 7.7G spools. I do see a slight, 5 foot difference between the Lingl and the BK2 using 1.6G lures that to me is worth it, but untill there is some kind of "breakthrough" in reel design I think we are well into the area of diminishing returns. I was only able to get 50 feet distance with the DWU and my Rock N Roll, but was able to get 60 ft with the DWU and a new, nice, rod, the 6'6'' L rated Fun of Fishing ll by Arete. I think it would be super interesting to see what differences you observe using your best casting reel with some different rods. It may be that more is to be gained, distance wise, by using the best rod for the lure.

The "slowing them down" (or the end of the cast) part... Comes from the dial(magnets). The clutch by the handle is in control of the start up. You are looking at the whole process of reel set up wrong when you say these reels seem to like 1 spot past 3 or whatever #. It's likely costing you distance overall.

Good test. I also replaced the magnets in DWU (there is a video on my channel) with others and it became very comfortable to throw baits. Now throws from 0.5 grams (about 8-9 m).

I think the conquest spool is larger than the Aldebaran. I always got better cast distance with the CQ over my Aldebaran with anything over 1/8oz

I'm pretty sure the spools themselves at exactly the same it's the longer shaft of the conquest that makes it slightly heavier... I'm almost convinced that I'm seeing a fine line to matching spool weight to bait on these lighter baits.. to heavy and it doesn't start up fast enough but to light and it can't keep up for overall distance..

It's a 8x5 just like Daiwa and Abu Garcia as is all of the AliExpress reels I've dealt with
