Macquarie University has certainly transformed over the years....was studying there in the late 80s and parking then was ample! The area that looked exactly the same was Wally's Walk(?)...the sight of the maple trees in autumn was breathtaking! Thanks for bringing back fond memories of my student days! Really miss the place!

Glad to oblige! A lot has changed, as you say. That beautiful student courtyard of trees in front of the student union had to be demolished because the trees were dropping branches. Can’t wait to see what they build there! It wasn’t finished last time I was there...

@@ChoosingYourUni I am from Denmark and already have a master's degree in innovation and entrepreneurship with a bachelor's in interactive media. I've been abroad for 4 semesters during my studies with internships and exchange so maybe it's somewhat of an addictive motivation ;) Well my self-idealized purpose is threefold: 1: My girlfriend is likely to study in Australia next year 2: I find that I lack some applied skills within IT/analytics to execute on tasks in marketing, user experience design, and management 3: I am quite keen on seeking long term permanent employment in Australia My heart is set on UQ tbh, but it is for more sentimental reasons. They do however have an IT GDip with flexibile options unlike QUT for instance. Go8 is more expensive but having been at 2 other Aussie unis I'd really like to round off at one of the "flagships".
@ChoosingYourUni3 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Where did you do your 4 semesters abroad?
@Likkivi3 жыл бұрын
@@ChoosingYourUni Australia twice, Singapore and Norway. Although I can see from the visa rules that a GDip doesn't put me in a special position for a graduate visa - so I will perhaps look at alternatives. Do you know why doing a study abroad at Australian unis is remarkably cheaper than being a matriculated student on a semester basis?
@ChoosingYourUni3 жыл бұрын
Market dynamics is the only reason. Unis compete for study abroad students with price being one driver. They would also say that there’s less work involved because there’s no award being provided in the end (so less staff time committed to academic advising, checking you’ve met degree requirements, less use of facilities etc).

@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
Oooo, that’s two good options. I’d give some thought to two things: 1. What kind of environments are you most interested in? USC is closer to the coast. UNE is inland. 2. What kind of overall experience are you looking for? UNE is going to be a completely unique, classic Australian experience: country town, friendly locals, kangaroos on campus. Like that. USC is going to be more a beachside experience - if you like warm weather and the beach, this will be a good choice!

Hi Marco - sorry for the long delay in replying. SCU Lismore is a great uni for envi sci. Lismore is a cool community (albeit quite small) and the university is very friendly and inclusive. Lismore isn't on the coast, but it's only 20-30 miles away from Byron Bay, so if you like camping and getting outdoors, you'll be close to the beach. Here are two vlogs I filmed in the region: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHrGh5-Lp7Rmodk - Brunswick Heads kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIfOp2aedrJ_Zs0 - Byron Bay Harvey Bay is very small. Great Content Rob! I have recently got 2 offers from UNSW and Macquarie for the program 'Master of IT specialisation in data science-UNSW' and master of business analytics and cybersecurity -Macq' which one do you think I should take up? yeah both the degrees are slightly different but I am having trouble deciding which one in terms of scope, both have data science in them.

Thanks Arvind. Good questions. Both are going to be good degrees. Do you have a deeper interest in one vs the other?

Great review! I am currently undecided between WSU and Macquarie University. Which one offers a better IT Program/course? Thank you in advance.
@ChoosingYourUni2 жыл бұрын
Both these programs have their strengths. I personally studied at Macquarie so I am a little biased and would prefer MQ over WSU for that program, but WSU has a lot going for it too - including being in a fast-growing region of Sydney.

Hello there, I'm planning to apply for Master of Science at JCU but not sure on which campus to go to. Either Cairns or Townsville. I want to pursue with a terrestrial biology and conservation major or better yet zoology. Which venue would you suggest that best fit my interest in animals? Or if you have other recommendations of universities, that would be helpful as well. Waiting for your reply with anticipation. Thank you.
@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Cairns is interesting because it is not far from the Daintree rainforest area. Tropical biodiversity is usually very rich and interesting. However, the campus at Townsville is larger and I suspect might have more class options.
Here's the JCU Townsville video :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmikoYGArL1lb5I

Hey Mate, I just have a question, I want to study Psychology (Hons) at Maq Uni, would you recommend a double degree or just pure psychology. Also is it a well-known uni for Psychology? As you only briefly mentioned it. Cheers
@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
MQ has a good psych program. I know people who did it and had a good experience. Regarding single or double degrees, it depends what you want to do afterwards. The BPsy Hons is the purest path, good if you’re hoping to get into clinical work or research. A double might work better if you’re hoping to get into something applied, like consumer behaviour.

@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
Great. That’s awesome that you can be so specific. In this case I’d say yes, it is worth the investment, but with an important caveat. You should choose a uni that has a strong design or fashion section in addition to a strong business program. That’s because one of the valuable parts of Uni is the people you meet and connection you make. A general business course at most unis will give you the basics. But you’ve got a specific idea in mind so should go after a specific outcome. That outcome should be getting to know as many people who work in fashion and design while you’re at uni. I’d recommend looking at a uni like RMIT or other unis with good combined programs and strengths in the relevant areas.

I chose bachelor of medical science at Macquarie University for July intake...is it a good University for this course?
@ChoosingYourUni2 жыл бұрын
Good question, I'm not fully sure. I haven't looked into the undergrad program yet - I followed the development of the postgraduate specialisations, which was a great initiative imo. If the bachelor follows a similar theme it should be good. Facilities are still pretty new.

I like the media program at Macquarie. It’s been going a long time. There’s plenty of work out there but that doesn’t mean anyone should be complacent. Make sure you do as much as possible at Uni to get practical experience: do an internship or international study tour, join the Global Leadership and PACE programs and try to get to know your faculty by volunteering or research projects. That’s the way to get ahead 👍

That’s true. Sydney is bloody expensive. You could also look at cheaper cities: Canberra (UC) or Brisbane (QUT) on the east coast, Adelaide (UniSA) and Perth (Notre Dame rates super high for student experience).
