Hi Rob! Absolutely loved seeing this video. I’ve recently been accepted to their Masters in Data Science program and have been in a dilemma since then only because it’s a relatively “young” university as you had mentioned. I did look at their course structure and found it to be way more practical and industrial oriented than some of the Go8’s and this video might’ve been just the nudge I required to trust UTS.

Good on you mate. Great industry and a good uni. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself about the ATAR. There are many ways to skin a cat. ha ha - sorry I can't make it easier! Put it this way - they are both awesome universities. You can't really go wrong with either and, even if you started at one and it turned out to be terrible, you could always transfer. Both have upsides. Are any of your friends going to one or the other?

Both unis are in the same sort of area, so there's accommodation in the nearby suburbs. But if you're looking to live someone outside the CBD and inner city, UTS is easier to get to the USyd by public transport. Yes, transferring is always an option. Nursing is an accredited degree so every student has to do basically the same training, regardless of which uni they go to. Not sure how difficult the unis make it, but it's possible... you're learning the same stuff!
@milly45435 жыл бұрын
hey, I just wanted to pitch in! I had a friend do midwifery at UTS and she had a good experience with it. Apparently UTS student services are very helpful. She found a grad placement in Hornsby straight after graduating and has been employed ever since. USyd does have an incredible campus though. As far as quality of education, either will be fine and employers don't care which one you went to when it comes to allied health degree so it won't be a hindrance if you go to UTS. UTS is closer to the city and the area around it is nicer imo USyd's neighbouring suburbs are kinda dodgy but the uni is Go8 which would matter if you wanted to do research because they get more funding.

@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question Ray. Picture this: you're sitting at a job interview. After the first 2 minutes you've talked about the degree you've done (and, in fact, the interviewer already knows about your uni/degree because they read your CV). What are you going talk about next? Getting a great job...the job you actually WANT... is as much related to the stuff you do outside the classroom as what and where you studied. Maybe it's even more important. That's why doing things like student exchange, leadership programs, volunteering, joining clubs, working part time, travelling etc. are all so important while you're at uni. Focus on those things and a. you'll have a lot more fun at uni, and b. you'll have a much better story to tell when you're going for jobs. UTS has excellent opportunities for overseas study, leadership (the BUiLD program - I actually designed and put it together about 10 years ago!), entrepreneurship and internships. I always worry less about "prestige" and more about "proactivity" when it comes to jobs. It's not the 1990s anymore!

@@ChoosingYourUni Yes I am studying Masters of Data Science and Innovation at UTS its very challenging and really forces you to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. You get to work in a project and apply your data science skills into the project which for many students gives them the know how of how to approach a data problem and a possible solution. Also a point where to see if data science is really for you as the typical view is that data science can solve a problem straight away is ridiculous most times there is no solutions but more questions for the client to reframe the question or it is not a data science problem at all its something else. Most students prefer part time if you are a international student try to book in a counsellor and tell them you are having difficulty coping with study and you may allow to do part time and the government will accept that under the notion of mental health.

I reckon that’s unlikely given how much financial difficulty all the Australian universities are in because of Covid. But check their website.

I graduate next year (2021) and enter uni in 2022 and right now ive been considering which uni to go to. I plan to do a software engineering course so ive been researching about good uni's in NSW. Looking at uts, some reviews are really putting me off but this video was great in terms of showing the uni so thanks for this. Could i get some advice on which uni is good overall?
@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
I really like UTS. It’s a dynamic, forward thinking global university. The location is great and the student experience there has been consistently improving over recent years. I think you’ll find strong software engineering programs at many unis in Sydney but I’d pick UTS and UNSW as two of the best for that discipline.

@@ChoosingYourUni im thinking of macquaire, tasmania, RMIT, UWA or maybe USYD
@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
That's quite a list! Here are some places to look to narrow down your choice: www.qilt.edu.au --> you can compare these unis for IT against each other depending on your interests: employability, student satisfaction, teaching etc. In terms of overall experience, let me tell you some of the positives of each: Macquarie --> good transport links, located in a growing part of Sydney (but NOT in the city centre), big open campus with lots of trees; awesome extracurricular program called "PACE" for leadership and community skills. Tasmania --> beautiful campus close to the water; Tasmania is a beautiful state so doing travel outside uni is easy and very pretty; it's a regional destination so eligible for enhanced post-study work rights for international students. RMIT --> huge uni right in the centre of Melbourne; awesome industry program with work integrated learning - one of the best in Australia; tonnes of opportunities to study overseas as part of your degree. USyd --> High ranking uni; amazing campus close to the centre of Sydney; lots of overseas study and leadership opportunities. UWA --> like Tassie, considered regional so better post study work rights; really beautiful campus; prestigious university; I love Perth - it's not huge, but there's heaps there and the environment is lovely. Hope that helps. Please subscribe if you haven't already :)

Sorry for the delay - I missed this comment. I'm not sure about the exact answer to this as it will depend on each university's entry requirements.

Do you which university offers highly reputable TESOL master program? Thank you
@ChoosingYourUni4 жыл бұрын
That’s a very common program taught by many many unis. Reputation alone doesn’t mean it’s the best uni for you - I’d always look beyond the reputation alone when choosing this sort of degree. Consider graduate outcomes, extracurricular opportunities ans the location where you’d like to study too.

Locations - cities or towns. Every city has its own character and opportunities. It’s very well worth considering.
hi I'm a Lebanese student planning on pursuing my education in Australia. I'm currently confused to what university would be best for me and my future. I want to go into mechanical engineering and my main choices are UTS and UNSW. I surely prefer to enrol in a university that is extremely reliable and educationally strong in my career choice in addition to building various social relations and becoming more involved in society. Which university would you advise me to go to? I am surely open to more options if that's what you perceive as suitable.

I think those unis are the top picks in Sydney. In Melbourne you could look at RMIT and Monash, and in Queensland you could look at QUT.

Hey! I’m an international student planning to study Communications&Media and right now I’m considering between Monash University and UTS. Any recommendation or advice based on your experience between these two universities? Which one is better in Communications&Media? By the way, thank you for great content!
@ChoosingYourUni3 жыл бұрын
These are both excellent unis. Personally I really like this program at UTS. But there’s a lot to consider outside of the uni itself - like which city you might want to be in and on campus life. I’d probably take UTS over Monash for the course, but Monash over UTS for campus life. UTS is right in the middle of Sydney’s CBD and Monash is far out in the suburbs without amazing transport right now (mostly good bus connections only).
