Impressive build quality on those De Vere enlargers, used to have a 504 condenser, wish I could have had your video then!

Hi, your videos are wonderful! I have a Durst M800 enlarger. Do you know how can I align it?
@TheNakedPhotographer4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t done one yet, but I have one coming up with a Durst M301 if its similar.

I just acquired a De Vere 5108 and was going to set it up but it didn’t come with the hardware to mount the head. I have all the other pieces. I’d love some advice on how to go about setting it up - where to get the hardware, what I need, etc... btw your channel has been very helpful for all my darkroom needs. I just started printing color with a Durst RCP 40 VSN.

There shouldn’t be any hardware to mount the head, it should have holes that line up with two studs that protrude from the carriage.

Hi, as I wonder if you get your hands on European made enlargers, I want to point out that as far as I know (or have had my hands on them) not yet fully professional models made by DUNCO or KAISER (unlike enlargers for 4x5 and larger by Durst for example), have less possibilities for adjustment: all is produced in factory to factory specs, the single column fits into a "shoe-like" part which is attached to the base board, the enlarger head is connected to the column via a rod-like part which is secured with a screw. Fastening it centers it - again up to factory specs/adjustment - and has a stop for perpendicularity to the column/baseboard, same for the lens board… negative carrier insert slot cannot be adjusted at all. Some corrections can be done with shims under the "shoe"-like part connecting it to the base board (what I did when using a DIY wall mount for my DUNCO 67) but the head/column part is basically as it is. Thus unfortunately I do (have to) check sharpness corner to corner more or less every time, because the lens board easily moves… My other enlarger, am ancient Liesegang Rajah V from the 60ies/70ies for up to 4x5, used in many professional Foto-Studios in Germany is not different from that construction, only heavier. DUNCO and KAISER enlargers are still produced, which is a plus, and not everybody has enough head space for something truly bigger. Looking forward to more of the series! Cheers, Rolf

I already filmed a bunch of these ahead of time, and one is an older Beseler 35 made like this. There are work arounds, and that is what I demonstrate

This is great! I just got a 507 and mounted on the wall. If I’m not mistaken, you also have the colour 500 automatic module, right? I do have the manual for this, but it is really tough to understand. A video about how to calibrate the colour 500 module to a given film/dev/paper comb. would be awesome!!! Looking forward to see more. Greetings.

I can’t do that, I literally ripped it out of my machine when I got it.

On purpose? Or by accident? Don’t tell me you think this thing doesn’t work well ?!?

It was missing too many pieces to ever work properly, so I removed the sensor from inside the head and mounted my timer where the unit was.

HI! first of all, I can not tell you how useful these informations were for me! You are doing an outstanding job with this channel and also your presence in the forums is one of the most helpful out there, let me tell you. I also have a question for you. I'm printing with De Vere 504 enlargers since long time now and I also have a 5108 that needs some maintenance. do you know how can I get under the bulbs plate to change the color dials lamp and do some maintenance on the wheels springs? On the 504s is fairly easy but on the 5108 I'm struggling to find my way around it. Is full disassemble of the head required to access the area?

The dial bulb is on the right side and takes some work to get the bayonet style bulb out, but nothing needs to be disassembled if I remember correctly. I’ve not messed with the filter mechanism before.
