Everyone goes through highs and lows, its a normal part of life. Nothing is wrong with being by someone's side while they experience their lows. The problem is when that person gets trapped in a perpetual cycle of victimhood, negativity and refuses to assess themselves in order to make positive changes. When this happens, you will usually start to feel drained and exhausted by this person. At that point, its best to tell that person that you're there if you need them but you will be giving them space to do their own internal work if the advice and encouragement that you are providing them falls on deaf ears.

Exactly. Exactly that & this is something that has been going on for YEARSSS. Which we connected after I had went through this same exact situation with a friend of mine, where she had to leave me to do the work myself. I truly appreciate her so much more for leaving me to figure it out on my own than to be my crutch. Because initially I felt lost when she had to distance herself but after heavy evaluation of myself I realized I was hurting the friendship more because I couldn’t add to it, because I wasn’t adding to myself. It was there in that complete darkness of being alone that I found my own light. I gained clarity on how to maneuver through my journey. I’ve tried over and over and at this point it’s taking away from my energy to be there physically for him. So no, I will not continue to be drained and yes of course I will be there for him in spirit. But he has to realize that he has that same light within him. And maybe that means I just have to let him be to realize what he was looking for was always within him 💜 at some point we have to rewrite our story, we can be the victim but that’s a choice to keep repeating that story. I really do hope he finds himself but sometimes we have to completely lose ourselves to realize there was no real loss, just an uncovering of the true self
