Schooling in Pakistan has been one of the many things I've had to adjust to and live with since moving from New Zealand. Soo here's a glimpse of the experience in a walkthrough of a standard day at my "Pakistani school" through my eyes.

hellohello since most people keep telling me i should’ve chosen another school lol I just wanted to add that the reason I ended up in Nixor was because I came here quite late and admissions were closed in most places so I was left w very few options to choose from- Nixor being one of them

Why are people complaining about her school and her attitude I don't find anything wrong about what she says. Look at how humble and nice she is and look at how she recognises those who can't have education and how grateful she is for whatever she has. She lived in NEW ZEALAND her whole life ,a country much developed than Pakistan so obviously it would be hard for her to settle in , you can't expect her to love and adopt everything easily and thennn CRITICISING her for that is very sTUpid she's a human and honestly I don't even find her complaining really 😃 and yesss ajhhhhhh I love your content I'm literally binge watching all your videos 😁💕💕😂😂

Listen I get that her adjustment period is going to be harder and it might sting at times, but some of the issues I’m seeing is, in an earlier video she compared her parts of Pakistan knowing full well that Pakistan is a developing nation that has been through quite a few battle wounds with a developed westernized country it’s a very condescending way to lay a video out. In this video she referred to a traditional clothing worn by us as potato sacks and yes I do understand that school uniforms might not be to her as ideal or beautiful, the shalwar traditionally has been loose so going out of her way to state them as something less then is hurtful. While I understand that she might not mean to be hurtful or disrespectful, she is doing so and maybe she will see this and take it as constructive criticism. Here’s hoping for the best.😩

All I see in the comments is, “there are better schools in PK,” or “she is just defaming Pakistan.” I think what you guys are failing to understand is that, yes she and her family may have the money to send her to a better school but many kids don’t have the money to go to nice schools and just like she said 26 MILLION KIDS in Pakistan can’t even attend school. I understand that basically telling the whole world that, “many of the children in our country don’t get an education,” or showing them that, “some of our schools in Pakistan are like Nixor” may not be easy, but hiding the facts will not fix the problem. Pakistan is a fairly newer country therefore it is not as developed as many countries around the world. I do not expect it to be at the level of the US or New Zealand (even these countries have flaws that we still strive to fix. Prime example: the BLM protests that are happening in the US), however hiding from the bad in Pakistan will not help Pakistan grow. The video was not only about Nixor college, it was about the bigger picture. Think bigger than just Nixor. Look at the whole picture instead of one piece.

Yes i understand many can't go to school or simply don't know the international standards but still for someone coming from abroad its VERY hard to adjust.

I was born and raised in the US so honestly I do not know much about Pakistani schools. I go to Pakistan once year for about one month and come back therefore I barely know what it’s like living there. My comment was to show what I took away from the video and no where did I sense a feeling of defaming through the video. Also many people are now commenting that there aren’t better schools in PK which just goes to prove her point. She just explained her side of the story and how she felt while trying to adjust to the new lifestyle. While doing so she also revealed the truth which many people are (for some reason) hurt by.

“Waiting for something new to happen“ is what has lead to our current situation, where we at as a nation, because it never happens. Our education is repetitive brain washing with different subjects. No way to discover or express your self or not even encouraged to do so. Then when you finally graduate and end up in a commercial setting/work you are forced to understand that every thing gora made is better. Because in the first place you were never encouraged to experiment, understand, think, try, study, envision or anything creative but made to copy everything and repeat.

The message in the end is powerful. We often complain about our situations, while forgetting that we are very privileged of the kind of lifestyle we have. But speaking in terms of design of the school, this is horrific. Schools I studied in when I was in Karachi had better campuses. I've heard about Nixor but never expected it to have such a nonfunctional campus design. They could've done better.

Not trying to be pretentious but the school I went to in lahore was like the one you showed in NZ. We had every facility available like a robotics club, a swimming pool, a soccer field, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a separate canteen and a theater. Even the Yale scout that came was shocked at how schools here are much bigger and better than public ones abroad. There are numerous schools like this in Lahore and I'm sure karachi. Tbh this is the first private school I've seen that looks like this. I'm sure this school is great and has a good education system which is what matters. I was just trying to change the perception that all schools are like this.

Being a Karachiite, I've gone to schools made with joining 2 or 3 houses together with complicated routes to hot and arid classes. The overpopulation is just awful. I was lucky to have a school where they had a lot more space and a lot less kids. Also, the facts at the end were shockimg for me too. A guy who's been living in Karachi all his life. zarwa zara thé Karachi American School isn’t anything like or even close to the regular Pakistani school, no need to even try and compare it. Here are just a few things we have. Starting with the teaching styles .Anyway interactive teaching and and hands-on experiences are rare in Pakistan and in a repetitive teaching styles are the norm. The Karachi American School (KAS)” is totally different and competes with schools abroad and the teaching styles are relatively similar to schools in the US. It is an extremely private and highly secured school so you won’t be able to find too much information online. Air conditioner is equipped everywhere (classrooms and the cafeteria as well as the auditorium) the school is built on a 25- acre campus giving us two large libraries, a swimming pool, science labs, tennis courts and a football field. We also have a large playground with imported equipment for elementary. We have a large student lounge where you can buy unlimited amount of junk foods and then we also have an air conditioned cafeteria but there’s really no need for me to state the obvious because every place that has four walls and a roof is air conditioned my only complaint with that is it’s wayyy to cold at times and the teachers sometimes disregard us pleading to turn it off. Other wise we have more than enough space and relaxing time through our hours in school. Like there’s the annoying one ways and traffic control at your place theirs no such things here. There are properly constructed stairwells and more than one way access a classroom or bathroom etc. Like I saw everything is open roofed and poorly constructed surroundings KAS has been constructed thoughtfully to contain even billions of students.

This college is one of the top ones here and by this it just means that the admission processes that youve to go through to get in here and ofcourse the fees is just more than anyother . This being said , this college would definitely serve your career in a better manner than any other perhaps so cheer up a little despite all your problems. The infrastructure can definitely be not compared to anything that youve had experienced in Newzealand but here in pakistan there is always like a trade off between good education and good building and its just how it is. And also about the learning process that you mentioned , its sadly something thats been here for a long time and it wont take time for you to realize that its just all business with education in pakistan. Despite all of this , your college is what very less can aim or dream of going to here in pakistan and whatever youre getting here is just a privilege . Hope you adjust well . PS: to all telling you that this is a wrong choice are not thinking it straight , this is perhaps one of the best that you could get here if not for the architecture of the school and other small problems .

If you happen to come across any NGO working towards educating unprivileged kids, please share the link in one of your videos. I would love to help. And as always, happy to see your videos. Keep posting.

I like how you explain everything and how you are so organised not just in your speech but how you look at your life, it’s like a wardrobe that you keep so organised & disciplined naturally cause that’s how you are... subscribed for your story telling and cause I live abroad for half my life now since I left pak I can relate it to myself(cultural shock all over again)when I think of coming back for good. Cheers. ✌🏻

I have to say Alina your a brave girl. I'm western born Pakistani... I want to bring my girls up in Lahore because my husband is from there, but omg I had a very difficult time getting my kids to move.. All hell broke out and they were not willing to leave England which is there home town. Watching your video makes me feel so proud of Pakistan, especially now when the media portray it to be a danger zone. Well done my lovely. Your beautiful, caring and loving soul.. I actually relate to you sooo much! I moved from Malaysia to Pakistan and everything was different. The teaching styles, the size of the school, the short breaks. I hated everything but I moved to a better school now. The most relatable thing was when you said they would send you back if you were 30 seconds late. Also, the washrooms are sooo far away from my classroom and you can't go to the washroom more than twice a day! Can you believe that lol. This was at my old school like I said before but now I go to a much better school so I'm lucky.

Schools in New Zealand look amazing ohmygosh! In late 2017 my family moved from the US to a small village near Islamabad where we stayed for a year and a half. My mom made me go to school in said village and it was horrendous. Honestly your school looks so good compared to the madrasa that I went to. I wouldve KILLED to have classes like socio and psych. But US schools are subpar compared to New Zealand schools ( at least from what I can tell in the clips) so I get how it mustve been a tremendous culture shock lol. Funny thing is , we're back in the US where i'm a junior in highschool (to be, its summer break atm) ( junior in hs means im 16 for you non-American folks) and i'm planning on going to medical college in Karachi once I graduate from highschool bc of how expensive college in the US is.
@maryam.2890
@maryam.2890 4 жыл бұрын

Medical college in Karachi u mean agha Khan University??
@notnazo
@notnazo 4 жыл бұрын
@@maryam.2890 Well if i just wanted a four year bachelors degree in any other area/major the cost would be around the same but in America you have to do four years undergrad in any pre-med major and then spend (and pay for) another four years in medical school which can add up. Also after medical school in order to begin practicing you have to complete a residency (you dont have to pay for residency, you actually get paid) and that can be anywhere from 3 yrs to 7. So its not just money its time as well (plus karachi cant be too different from islamabad ...right?) As for the education aspect its definitely not my first choice but i have to kinda weigh my options yknow
