When I had a layover due to a bad storm, I just slept on airport lounge bench because I didn’t want to pay for a hotel when my rescheduled flight was due in a couple of hours! Sometimes you have to put up with a situation beyond the airline’s control. Changi Airport has a thoughtful, modern design and its waterfall and rainforest cenrepiece is a unique attraction. Alina, you don’t normally show airports, there’s usually nothing special about them but the exception here is Changi manages to be the top airport in the world for good reason. It was unforgettable leaving it for Osaka!

If you are in China, there are many inexpensive hotels near the airport, and the hotel has a free car to pick up and drop off. You just need to book the hotel on your mobile phone.

I've traveled through both Doha and Singapore Changi Aiport, and will say that I personally loved the latter. It's more than just an airport, it's a tropical oasis. Amazing video!

@@AlinaMcleod Doha airport is big with nice amenities but kinda "cold" and the immigration officers are rude AF. Also, the airport has built a little gardens by the bay but they claim they have it first when Gardens by the Bay Sg has been there way before Doha new airport is built.

Changi Airport is amazing but you saw way more of it than I did. When I landed cleared customs etc and got to luggage pickup maybe 15 minutes or so after arrival they had unload all luggage from the carousel and had staff looking after same. Never have I had my luggage waiting for me with such a speedy entry. I really felt that Changi was like a high class shopping centre with an airport included. I was told the Changi and two other airports actively compete for title of best airport in world and that really shows. Singapore doesn't like coming second so they upgrade to try to regain first place if they lose first place status. Thanks for showing me more than I saw when I was physically there.

I have been to Changi Airport when I transited a connected flight. After getting off a flight from Guangzhou to Singapore, I stayed at Changi airport for about 6 hours before returning home to Perth. Inside the airport, they have food court upstairs, while downstairs they have some duty free items there.

Hi! I worked at the airport before and here are some tips for places to sleep! even though you cleared the immigrations at T1, you are able to transit between terminals via the skytrain (or shuttle bus in the midnight), there are "sleep/snooze lounges" across all 4 terminals. best places are typically the one closest to the gates. if my memory didn't fail me the quietest and biggest lounge is at T3! 2:58 Having a knowledgeable employee that actually wants to help you can make or break your experience at Singapore's airport. I was just there and because of an employee that clearly wasn't interested in helping I ended up losing 6 crucial hours during an 18 hour layover. I finally found a nice employee that provided the information I was looking for and was able to salvage some time but I missed out on what could have been an amazing trip.

We ended up going to the airport that afternoon, we were there for about 4 hrs. We watched the light show @ 8pm, very spectacular, but only went for about 5 minutes. Thanks again for the very comprehensive video that convinced us to go !! 👍👌

Alina, it is one of our favorite airports without a doubt. To try to get some sleep at any airport is a challenge. So sorry, it didn't work for you. That was my experience too in Changi Airport . Overall nice place but not good sleeping options , also the Jewel opens only at 11 AM so anybody who depart the airport before that have no chance to see the waterfall .

Sorry to hear that you had issues with check in at the airport. You should have crossed immigrations after 8pm and caught the lightshow at the waterfall. 😅 As of this comment, Changi has regained pole position. Lol Lucky for me, Jewel is my neighbourhood mall. And I don't enjoy the walking nets. Prefer the bouncing nets. Lol

I can totally understand the living in Singapore thing. We went there in Feb 2020 just before covid and we can back in love with the place. ❤ Although I’m not sure we massively loved Changi a huge amount. It had a strange 70’s kitch vibe to it I felt. Especially the carpet. Although the men’s urinals facing the runway was pretty cool, although maybe not for the people in plane on the other side 😂. We also noticed a distinct lack a comfy chairs…

You could take the sky train inside the airport to terminal 2 and 3 , there is a area which is nice to sleep in and is quiet and not so bright but I had forgotten in which terminal

Changi is everything an airport should be. It's worth a long visit to explore everything it has to offer. Changi Airport (and Singapore as well) doesn't market itself as budget-friendly. The focus is more on high-end luxury travel (which makes perfect economic sense). However, budget travellers do pass through just as often as full-fare travellers, so an inexpensive hotel or perhaps even a Japanese-style capsule hotel might be a good investment.

You don’t need to be 3 hours in advance in Changi. 1.5 hours is more than plenty of time. Typical security and outbound customs is less than 10 minutes…

The Jewel is actually built for the local residents and tourists are the collateral beneficiaries. The airport is where there is a high concentration of capital but one of the lowest population density places in Singapore. After spending hundreds of million to connect the train to the airport, the gov decided to develop the airport into a lifestyle location to divert the weekend crowds from the usual few places. This helps to make Singapore feel less crowded.

Luggage check in is done before going through Immigration. So you could check in you luggage 19 hours earlier, then go back to your hotel and Sleep. wake up the next morning not needing to go 3 hours earlier to check in your luggage. With online check in you can show up 45 mins before your flight. I did something like this 2 weeks ago !

You can always stay at cheap Hotels around Alujneid or Geylang for about $99 SGD for one night (Hotel 81 or Fragrance Hotel come to mind ) which always have staff at reception and can get you a cab to the airport for abour $28SGD, or even cheaper as there will be no traffic at 3am..

I was at Changi last march and it was a dismal place to spend 7 hours or so ,not many resturants open ,dark with one terminal closed ,on the spot info given by someone shouting for passengers at the gate .Seems better now though .

I just payed the money to stay in a room at airport hotel .. yes it’s very expensive but I didn’t want to be a Zombie.. I just know how horrible I would feel with the ongoing flight without some sleep

My experience was pretty good. The food was sub par and you're not supposed to bring your own, so that's a downside.
