This is an amazing word! We discuss this on our channel, as well. The dangers of believing these “prosperity and self-motivational” lies is that people will then grow to think of God as their personal genie-in-the-bottle and ask “what can God do for me?” Instead of “what can I do for God?”

I was born in 1992, so I was in 5th grade from 2002 - 2003. I still remember my teacher making sure that we knew the difference between fact and opinion. (You could also say truth verses opinion here.) I feel like we are losing that in our culture today, which is scary. I pray that we have a true revival. 🙏🤲👐🙌

God please continue to give me strength. As Christians it’s important to trust God no matter what we are going through. God is our only strength in this world. Like many other single parents things are tough on me. Both of my sons are autistic. I’m constantly struggling to provide for them and now that I’m home schooling them my hours to work are limited. I’m overwhelmed. Father God hear my prayers. My faith in you is strong! Even as I constantly struggle to pay my rent. And I constantly struggle to provide groceries for my children. I get mocked by others because I cry out to you Lord! But I trust you. I’m keeping faith. Walking with faith is the most important thing us christian’s must do. That’s why love compassion and prayers are all we truly need. Please keep me and my boys in your prayers.

Such a good interview! Thank you both for loving our Lord and proclaiming Him who is the (only) Way, Truth, and Life! As a pastor decades ago, I would declare to my congregation “I don’t believe in you (to live a life pleasing to God); I believe in Jesus in you (the Hope of glory)”. Such a liberating truth to know that it’s His power working in us to do what pleases Him and brings us joy! We just have to believe His word and trust Him for the grace to live it! Alisa, I think your new book dovetails perfectly with Rosaria Butterfield’s new book (“Five Lies”).

His TRUTH and MORALS are the bottom line !! Our culture is totally upside down 😢 !! To go by our so called truth, morality, being authentic, no judgement (anything goes) and reality IS of the Synagogue of Satan 👎 !! Trying to be like EVIL Satan and thinking you (self) are better than God and you are what matters (enough)... as Satan did and why he was kicked out of heaven by God 👎.

1 John 5:7-8, The Johannine Comma is an interpolation (words added) to the Bible by over-zealous Trinitarians, who wanted some testimony to the Trinity, due to the fact that in the Bible there is none. Matthew 28:19 has come under suspicion, a commandment given by Christ to the disciples, but the disciples only baptized in the Savior’s name only, as demonstrated in the Book of Acts. The early church historian Eusebius, wrote (published circa 316 CE) in his book, Matthew 28:19, that Christ said, "Go and make disciples of all the nations in my name" (Eusebius, The History of the Church, p. 68, PENGU1N CLASSICS, 1965). The Trinity has only really existed since the 4th century. Historian H.G. Wells factually stated, "There is no evidence that the apostles of Jesus ever heard of the Trinity--at any rate from Him" (The Outline of History, Vol. 2, p. 499). Martin Luther is quoted in a sermon saying, "It is indeed true that the name 'Trinity' is nowhere to be found in the Holy Scriptures, but has been conceived and invented by man" (The Sermons of Martin Luther, Vol. 3, p. 406, 1988). It is time that the false Trinity Doctrine cease to exist in Christianity! Catholics and Protestants agree that “Whoever will be saved: before all things, it is necessary the Catholic faith… unless he keeps this faith whole, he will perish everlastingly...And the Catholic faith is this: we worship one God in Trinity” (Catholicism, p. 69, 1961). Protestant professor of Theology James White, states, “The Trinity doctrine is misunderstood as well as ignored. It is so misunderstood that a majority of Christians when asked, give incorrect and at times downright heretical definitions of the Trinity” (James White, The Forgotten Trinity, p. 16). If belief in the Trinity doctrine is so critical to our salvation, then why did Christ and the disciples not preach the Trinity, which is historically over 300 years after Christ? This is the grossest form of legalism putting the Trinity Doctrine as a prerequisite for salvation when Christ and the apostles never did.

Greetings Kirk: keep doing what your doing but add to it to plan to train men and women to go to all public libraries of every major city in every sate coast to coast to share the good news of Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible. Godly character is taught and then caught. Teach them to stand up for what's right and fight for the children life and eternal destiny. Children can not defend themselves at public libraries and public schools. It takes adults to stand up against the government, against the boards of education. I truly like what you are doing....keep on keeping on. God bless you and yours and many blessings on your ministries.

Truly character is caught more than taught! People watch us and how we live & interact with others. Our children see way more than we know! Being a mom of adults now and each were taught the same in our home. We would bring issues back to the character of God! But each one is on their own journey. There are choices we don’t agree with and they know and know why, but they know we love them regardless. I work in Public education and know many believers that I work with. It is a challenge for sure! I trust that because the Holy Spirit dwells in us, God’s presence is very much alive there! Developing relationships with them opens the door for great conversations! We do love them right where they are at and allow the Holy Spirit to do his job of convicting their hearts. If we look at the life of Jesus, he did not protest, never forceful and went about developing relationships. I totally believe we should not accept sin but that is two fold. One we are called to love the sinner not the sin! I’m still learning how this all looks and is lived out. Two for the unbeliever they don’t have a conviction of sin. To a degree they know right from wrong, but sin they don’t. I believe that is where we pray and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to their hearts!

I get what Alicia is getting at with the 'you are not enough, but Jesus is'. But I'm not sure I agree that is the best response to someone who is struggling with self hatred from the lies that are spoken over them. I do think the response of "You are not enough, but Jesus is... Etc" only confirms on an emotional level the self hatred - What they hear is, "you need Jesus because you are so disgusting, etc". What I first try to do is point people to the truth of scripture: you are made in the image of God, You are fearfully and wonderfully made, etc.

I suffered with intense self-hatred and suicidal tendencies for two decades. I would have no problem being told, “You are not enough. No one is enough. @@johndibert5509 I have the minority opinion that self hatred is the flip side of pride. Self hatred says, “My opinion about myself matters more than God’s-or anybody else’s.” Self-hatred says, “My standards are higher than I can meet. I know God forgives me, but I can’t forgive myself. There is no hope for me.” I believe there is such a thing as self-hatred. Fortunately, believing the Gospel, and consuming the Word of God are the cure. Depending on how deeply imbedded self hatred is, it may be eradicated in a moment, or take years. Precisely, the scary part is realizing how many peoples truth is not necessarily biblically true. There are a couple things in the Bible that man has converted the meaning. The biggest example is making humans think they are the gentiles instead of one of the lost 10 tribes. Have you ever noticed how there’s really only 10 races of humans? Animals or… possibly something else 🧚‍♀️ 🧜‍♀️ are the gentiles and the Bible says yes they will be saved.

"Be holy as your father in heaven is holy" she quoted in the intro excerpt. But there is no 'my truth'? This is a bit like the false dichotomy social war set up between 'women's rights' over against 'the patriarchy' (men). Some like to say 'my truth' and 'your truth.' (It's more like 'my narrative' and 'your narrative', my culture or contexts and yours. They both exist in the larger world.) Non-biblical and quasi-biblical philosophies always develop false dichotomies and straw men. Like that between the factual economy of the external world and that of the conscious internal world. Really, a better explanation is needed that is in agreement with the common sense that it is both together in a shared, unified, constructive reality - rather than a war with a politicized solution that agrees with an ever-artificially-imposed solution. Men and Women are complimentary! Is that a special Revelation or is that actually in keeping with common grace revelation/observation? I guess the quick answer is to be: Objectively Subjective. Could that be a simpleton version for those more inclined to common grace observations rather than special Divine revelation? It seems that many in our present cultures have reached an impasse between public/private or secular/sacred or collectivist/individualist. It seems many need a more holistic categorical vision of society - a better wineskin, paradigm, for integrity and wholeness between what we know & show externally, and what we know & show selectively in our own corners. What are the proper categories, priorities, and belonging? Most sermonizing I've ever heard has not truly dealt with the fact: that what needs repair AND CENTRAL PRIORITY is the homefront and family front. The collective will find a way to tend to itself - in keeping with individuals and their families, in whatever states of maturity and repair they find themselves.

This is the grossest form of legalism putting the Trinity Doctrine as a prerequisite for salvation when Christ and the apostles never did.

funny enough, these two are just equivocation on the word "opinion". The reasons I and a lot of non-believers see things different than what a lot of what Christianity claims, is based on facts & knowledge. I don't think that murder is wrong simply because it is my opinion. I have reasons and those reasons are based on what I and humanity can come to discover, not simply because we were told in a book that is authored by a cosmic lawmaker.

Thank you for listening and thinking this through. Question: Where did your reasons and the basis for your reasons against murder come from? How Did you discover a universal truth that transcends time and culture (and is contrary to evolution, which proclaims the utilitarian destruction of any organism that is weak or in the way of “progress”)? Is the truth you discovered (like laws of physics) random or is it designed to be true and discoverable by the human mind? If the truth you discovered is transcendent and designed to be discovered, who /put it there? You might find this quote from the Bible interesting to this discussion: “Even Gentiles [non-Jews], who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. 15 They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.” Hopefully food for thought. Have a good day!

@@brudude120 - You are asking malformed questions, but it makes sense given theological commitments (and indoctrination). My specific ability to reason comes from the fact that I am a conscious human agent. This is what our brains do. So me showing up into world, experiencing life, joy, meaning, purpose, pain, suffering, etc. This all informs how I discern and make judgements how to interact in this world. Culture, family of origin, history, relationships, laws all play into this. But from here I just simply reject your assumptions that the laws of logic exist in some transcendent sense and that truth is something outside of a proposition reasoned to by a mind. You are playing the classic swimming in a sludge of ontology/epistemology confusion all wrapped in the argument from incredulity; "well who could have made the universe!"

@@ardbegthequestion Thank you for your response. I too am a conscious human agent, and my logical brain observes something incredibly complex and amazing like a human cell or a faraway star and concludes that random forces, events, and time couldn’t have produced that (especially given the laws of nature). So, I open myself logically to the possibility of a Designer/God. I can either ignore that possibility or pursue it and see where it ends. So, yes, I have theological commitments that have answered the questions of meaning and purpose better than any other philosophy or religion (including atheism). You too have your theological commitments (and indoctrination). Every thinking person does. If you haven’t read the Gospel of John in the Bible, I encourage you to do so (about an hour or so). Allow yourself to ask “Could any of this be true?” You seem like a highly intelligent person who seeks the truth. If you’re committed to discovering truth, then you have nothing to lose by reading John with an open mind. Maybe it will confirm your current belief system; maybe not. Again, thanks for the dialogue, my friend.

@@brudude120 - I was a Christian, so I read the Bible. And it was the pursuit of truth that led me out kicking, screaming and crying. But following the truth often entails having to except things we don't like. For instance, that humans are on a big tree that shares branches with other great apes or that our chemical makeup is all stuff that derived from stars. I get that it hurts our feelings to not be special, but as the saying goes (edited for more accuracy), facts do not care.

Hypothetical question: Which is worse ... blasphemy or unorthodoxy? I have often toyed with the disturbing superstition that Christianity might just be a reincarnational conjuration of a vengeful Native American medicine man/sorcerer of the 19th century. An effect of aboriginal paganism.

Exchristian. I see no evidence of the resurrection, only of stories told or written about, some artistic renderings and some artifacts, that's it. Resurrection is not a small claim, and you have to have a better level of evidence than mundane claims like stories of Thomas Edison, because what makes the resurrection unique is it claims a supernatural event: rising the dead and ascending into heaven sitting on the right hand of god.

Fascinating to see your guest wears pants and doesn’t cover her hair even though the Bible says she should do neither. It’s almost like her own personal, non-Biblical discernment matters to her.

You overestimate the influence of postmodernism. And Christianity is a prodigiously bad explanation of the way things are.

a-mori- fr. Greek A- prefix used as Not, Latin- mori for death. Sounds like amore- love. So, amori is eternal life, and it sounds like amore for love that makes Love Eternal. God is spirit and His love is eternal. How can you believe in Love, but not Eternity?
