okay! i HAVE to make the Sherpa vest! When i was in college (i'm 63 years old so that was eons ago! lol!) i had this marvelous white Sherpa vest and jacket. i LOVED that vest and i truly enjoyed wearing it. well somebody stole that vest and i was heartbroken! now, since i started back to sewing, i want to see if i can make this vest again and if it comes out the way i hope it will, it will be a game changer for me. this draft is so easy, i can't go wrong with cutting it. i just ordered some sherpa fabric from JoAnn's (Sherpa for 8.00 per yard!) and i ordered 3 yards. i had to get it while it is on sale. looking forward to doing this endevor and i will be using your method! light a menorah for me! lol!

I really appreciate your detailed explanation of how to measure and draft a pattern, on this and your other videos! There is really NO standard one size fits all pattern and this has really helped me to create clothes that actually fit.

It's winter in Australia now and I decided to make myself a vest. I used two layers of polar fleece and added a mandarin collar. Your construction was so easy to follow and I'm super happy with the result. Thank you 😊

Thanks for this wonderful, easy, informative sewing tutorial. I am currently making a vest and your tutorial by far is the best. I tried to make a vest using another method that I saw on KZbin, but my first attempt at it did not go so well, and I ruined my faux fur material that I had to throw it in the trash. I have been sewing for two and half years and I consider myself a advanced beginner or even a beginning intermediate sewer, so I was very frustrated when my first attempt ended up in the trash. Then I watched your video and I use a muslin material first as a test run, and it came out great. Thank you so much, I appreciate and enjoy all your videos.

Thank you great video to draft a vest pattern. Somehow my vest was much smaller than expected. I am trying again and have one question, how do I place the pattern to cut the back? I just turned the pattern but the curve of the back neck line was not there. I must have cut the pattern wrong. I am sorry that I am not a member. Thank you. 0:03 😊

Wonderful project - thank you! Any suggestions on a serger that has jet threading (I think that is what it is called?). I very much liked your serger videos. They were very helpful.

Hello there, great to hear that you liked the serger vids, I am planning one about a coverstitch machine. Hmmm... Jet air threading - haven't heard of it, but maybe try to look up if there are any reviews online to see if it is worth it and which one is better? That's what I would 😀

You breezed by the part where you turn the vest after sewing the arm holes. That is the part I get stuck on. You said to torn it with one of the shoulder seams?
@MaryVargo-du7mz2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. If I am making this for small children, do I still measure 1 inch from the shoulder line and 1 inch down from the shoulder line to make the slanted line for the shoulder. The reason I am asking is because it looks too slanted to me. Thank you!

I purchased some Sherpa fabric (sharpa on one side and flannel plaid on the other) a few years ago from Joann’s to make my Mom a vest but I’m not confident enough to make it. I did see where you linked your friends tutorial on how to make a sharpa vest, but it set as private. Would you be willing to do a tutorial on sharpa?
@ThoughtfulCreativity4 ай бұрын
Hi Becca, I do have a video about sewing a top with sherpa, kind of like a vest, but without an opening, it is not necessarily super difficult to work with, but you have to deal with thickness of the fabric and the fact that it likes to stretch (of yours has some stretch to it). I did lots of hand sewing finishes on the pink one, in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4uxo4iLbtd-qJY

I've been looking for a pattern to make a simple but feminine long coat from faux fur, about as thick as the fur in your vest demonstration. I haven't been able to find one. Maybe you could help me wjth a question. If I were to use a pattern for a regular wool coat, would it work with faux fur? Would I need to go a size larger to accomodate the thickness of the fur?

How do we calculate the amount of material that we need to use? I am a larger size and I fear that I may not get enough or too much? Can you help?
@ThoughtfulCreativity4 жыл бұрын
Hello, hello :) great question! Make the pattern first and that is the only thing that will tell you how much fabric for sure you will need to get. Because not only the size matters, but also your style preference: how long you would like to have it, if you want to change up the front or any other adjustments. Also, did you see Members Only video about this vest? I talk about fabric buying in it specifically for this project! :)
@JoyKOz4 жыл бұрын
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Thank you for your reply. I did assume that the preferences will affect the outcome, but I will look into the Members Only vid. Thanx again for your input 👍😘❤️️🇦🇺
