What a great interview and entertainment kids reunion! I grew up in Las Vegas so my sons and I know these names even though we are a different generation. Nothing like this great music and history.

Really enjoyed this video, Alison; thank you! I lived in LA for 28 years (Aug. '76 - July '04) and have many wonderful memories of life while making my living as an actor. However, it's always been music that provided the "back beat" to my choices in life, so this was a trip down memory lane in many ways. In fact, I was prompted to recall, fondly, the time in the late '70's when I was working on the show "Eight Is Enough" and happened to stumble upon Tracy Torme and his buddies playing in a weekly softball game at one of the Beverly Hills elementary school playgrounds. They were kind enough to let me join in and it became somewhat of a regular weekly "gig" for me. Never knew that Tracy had a brother, but not at all surprised to see how talented James is. However, reflecting back, I looked up Tracy to see what he was now up to - and was terribly saddened to find that he had died this past January at just 64 years of age. No question that you grew up in a unique, oft times wonderful, sometimes less so, environment abounding in talent all around you. May the balance of your journey be immeasurably rewarding! BPC

Hi Alison. Greetings from Toronto! I just saw the documentary Mr. A & Mr. M: The Story of A&M Records and learned more about Mr. Alpert. I listen to 107.3 Mod FM and began to seek out who was that great voice and it was Lani Hall who was in Segio Mendes and is married to Mr. Alpert. How cool. Thank you for this video. I hope to visit this club on a visit to LA. Just want to say too how much I am enjoying your videos. Thank you.

I think his A&M Label was a huge achievement. And to have Mel Tormé and Al Martino represented by their two of their kids - who probably have known each other as long as their dads knew each other. We are lucky.

I was so hoping to hear his daughter comment on "This Guy's In Love With You" and how aware she was of it as a child and what it meant to her. I imagine Herb singing it to her, perhaps as a lullaby. Or to dry her tears some time. Or maybe it was so much in her life that she didn't really notice it.

I'd heard his instrumentals years before but his vocal quality - juxtaposed against (with?) Louis Armstrong's - makes me appreciate throat-mouth based musicians so much. I still think THIS GUY'S IN LOVE is The Soul Masterpiece.

In recent years particular, even the last little while more so, here on YT, it's been very interesting to really, learn more about Herb Alpert"s actual career as it were, via videos such as this especially as this is up to date. I've also been a follower of the career of singer-guitarist Trini Lopez since 1971-72, so the name Alison Martino is,a familiar one of these last number of years in the online world, leading up to Trini's passing in August 2020. Two great's respectively, of certain approaches to the Latin- American sound yes

Sure Michael. You know I'll do anything for my godfather. Al Martino was excellent as johnny Fontaine. As was everyone in the picture. I can't help but wonder though how frank Sinatra felt about Al playing a thinly disguised portrait of him. I plan to go see herb at the pantages theater in Tacoma Washington on October 20.

What's with his daughter? She has this look of, "Oh give me a break".
I didn't see that, when I watched this video. But it could be, it's "old news" to her. She grew up with the music, and acknowledgement, that she's Herb Alpert's daughter.
