This is incredible and I am so glad she's still doing her own thing and sod what anyone expects her to do, or that they'd sooner forget about her. Alison still sounds as brilliant as she ever did, and with this album she's definitely back with a bang. I'm hoping the covers are out of her system now, cos she's never better than when she's doing her own material. It's also great news she loves doing live shows and touring now.

Big fan since college in late '80s. How big? She's not my daughter's namesake, but once chosen, she's why only one letter L. Some nice stuff earlier this millennium; mostly centered on vocals, even one album of standards. Some interesting arrangements. But... This is the album I've been waiting 20 years for her to make. It synthesized Yaz and her first few albums, but with a complexity as if evolved from 30 years' experience and growth. Her lyrics were always well-assembled, but again they seem matured, with a broader perspective, and put together with more poetic imagery and a degree of obscurity that gives them a seemingly-learned depth. So good to see you again Alison!

Very good work Alison. It is worth persevering with songs like this - great stuff. Full of colour should be future video - hetero colour if possible - but whatever you do is fine by me.
