Just finished the book "A Speck in the SEA" that I purchased from Amazon. A Navy buddy of mine that lives in Long Island told me about the book. I searched youtube for the video which they told about in book. I Love a happy ending and the book is definitely a good read. My Navy buddy passed away a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad he told me about the book, I thought of him while I was reading it. They say it will be in the works for a movie. RIP Fred

God bless this brave man! And our coast guard, fishing and boating community. They all came together and volunteered. With all those boats helping the coast guard, God bless you all. He returned alive to his fishing best friend's, his family, and everyone who loves him. I would've been right out there in my boat searching. I live in Coventry Rhode Island. Thank God that search area, was the size of the smallest state in the U.S. 🙏 🤲 🎣

Embarrassingly I fell off a fishing boat once, ignored a few basic safety procedures to get the job done quickly, Ended up in the Freezing north sea for 4 hour's in total Darkness. Luckily I was in a trawler fishing area and got found by another fishing boat, Long story but had i followed procedure when I fell then I would have been seen falling, a crew on a large fishing trawler work together, something I learned the hard way. No risk of being killed by any deadly marine life where I was, after the initial shock, shouting out and quickly realising I wasn't going to be heard and the currents moving me away from the boat, it was a surreal experience of looking around and seeing absolutely nothing but water, useless trying to swim in any direction, so just floated on my back shivering in the cold and bobbing away in the water

Is there some kind of alarm that would go off if a man is overboard?
@najroe4 жыл бұрын
There are things called PLB that you can buy, basically gps+satelite beacon, if you press button/pull lanyard. (Different brands work slightly different) they start screaming that you are in an emergency and give location to rescuers, true you pay fee but... not too much considering lifesaving potential. downside on some models is the standard of message gives coordinate to nearest grid which is something like several square kilometers, on ocesn that is wasay hard to search for single person.

Think about the government resources spent on ONE life. One person in 325 MILLION. That, my friends, is one of the many things that makes the USA the greatest country in the world.
