That performance by Aljo reminded me of Khabib. He dominated Kattar, broke him mentally, drug him to deep water and drowned him. Kattar's face when 3rd round ended was very reminiscent of Barbosa's face after fighting Khabib

In a 5 rounder it would be rough. But aljo needs to work ground and pound into his game more. His grappling is absurd, great wrestling/bjj blend. But if his opponents can go 100% grappling defense without worrying about getting hurt, most guys for the rest of his career are going to be good enough to survive.

I can actually relate. I’m not where at the level of Aljo and even when I have great performances I think I sucked until I rewatched the fight. Everytime I lost in the amateurs I felt like the world crumbles. Everyone is different and everyone deals with stress differently as long as you keep striving and working hard I think that’s totally normal.

Aljo's energy level and cardio at 145 looked great at 145. Dude had enough left in the tank to powerbomb a grown man against his will late in the fight. Took down a bigger guy down at will (Kattar had a 92% takedown defense before the fight) Aljo vs Volk or T City would be super interesting at 145

As an Englishman, Aljo is totally right about the American fans (I’m sure there are a lot of you who will support your fighters every time) but in Europe, whenever we watch an English fighter fight, we support them, if my Polish friends are watching the Polish fighters, they support the hell out of them and even my Serbian mates were going absolutely mental for Rakić… hope Aljo gets a bit more support from the American fans after UFC 300.

It is because of the abundance. Most fighters are Americans. So, the fans choose who they like and who they hate. If you follow the EPL, a lot of English players are hated by most English fans. The bias was unreal. They didn't boo weili for grappling (bc that gave her the best chance at winning that fight), but like a classic aljo audience reaction, they booed him for grappling. Idk what they expect. If you're dominant and can win in a one dimensional way, do it your way, that's what got him here. Sure, it was boring, and he didn't do much damage at all during the grappling exchanges (hopefully he can improve on that in the featherweight division), but he dominated kattar and was hardly touched beyond the grappling.

It is not about grappling. Khabib did not get boo-ed. Almeida did not get boo-ed when he was not wet blanket-ing Lewis. Weili almost subbed Yan in the first round and then almost TKOed her in the second round. Even Aljo did not get boo-ed when he jumped on Sandhagen and finished him in less than a minute or even when he finished one-shoulder TJ. Why people don't like what Aljo did is very obvious.

I know he doesn't have the names, but I think it should be Evloev Sterling next. That would show if Movsar's lack of names in his fights should make him a REAL top 5 FW contender... if Aljo wins he goes top 5 then gets Ortega next. Allen vs Emmett and then Volk gets immediate rematch as most champs do & Yair vs Kattar jus to keep the division moving. But man that was a performance by Aljo huh?
