As a South African born into apartheid and having been subjected to it, what Palestinians are experiencing is infinitely worse. It's apartheid on steroids. Most people don’t actively seek contrary viewpoints even though they should in order to see both sides. It’s obvious that Israeli government doesn’t mind killing civilian Palestinians and committing war crimes as it goes about eliminating Hamas but in terms of apartheid, I think there is a case to be made that the less control they have, the more terrorist incidents there will be. I think the end goal should be equal rights and/or a fully independent Palestine but I just don’t know how to get there without terrorism ramping back up. What’s happening now isn’t the answer but it’s hard to blame Israel for wanting a full on war (however one sided) to end the terrorism once and for all. I don’t think it’ll work, and the government may have additional hidden motives, but I think that’s what the average Israeli citizen is hoping for out of this war.

Tell us something we dont already know. I've been to Israel, I have Israeli friends, and I work for an Israeli security company in the US. On the flip side I also drove in the West Bank and I've had a few friends from Palestine and other surrounding countries. Granted, there's lots of stuff to consider, but I think Israel is in the wrong on so many levels. Clearly they don't care a whole lot about Arabs and the Israeli lobby in the US is undeniable in its influence. Add on to the fact that much of Hollywood is owned by Jewish/Israeli big shots, so clearly the media is catering to their narrative. I know South Africa is going through some difficult times right now, but whoever the folks are, standing up and calling out the genocide and the apartheid, need to be celebrated. They have more courage than most heads of Muslim countries. As far as as the system goes- remember this, there is no proper way a Palestinian can disagree with the government of Israel. There is no correct way, they massacred non violent protestors, and there is no legal recourse. And sure, Hamas are terrorists, and they did evil things, but the Israelis indiscriminately butchered 35,000+ civilians. For a terror organisation, Hamas is really weak and relatively less blood thirsty compared to the civilised Israelis.

We see that in Gaza. Humankind is far from getting pass the Machiavellian maxim that the ends justifies the means. America's behavior in the Gaza affair, and I speak as an American, essentially is imperialistic and Machiavellian in favor of Israel. It’s not apartheid in the West Bank, it’s a military occupation. Apartheid implies a single state with different laws for different people, but this is not that. Israel has been out of Gaza for almost 20 years. And Israeli arabs have all their rights protected by law. There are a lot of ways in which Israel can improve, but it is not an apartheid, and I do agree with Lapid that such accusations smack of antisemitism (because the stretch from inequality in Israel proper to apartheid could be similarly applied to Black Americans regarding police violence, for example, but never is)

It is why, for example, Israel cannot sue Palestine for genocide (as a non state entity Palestine cannot sign the genocide convention), whereas Israel can be sued in The Hague because it is a signatory. I say debatably because it is debatable if something can be considered law if you can be held responsible (e.g. sued in The Hague), but cannot be protected against perpetrators (e.g. they can’t sue Hamas in the same court). This makes these international agreements more as conventions than law. As far as I am aware Israel is not signed up to any anti-apartheid convention, and even if so, apartheid under such a law could not possibly hold a state responsible against non-citizens. But you said so confidently that it’s a legal definition, so go ahead: show me where?

The Israelis have long since realised this and therefore show a general apathy to world opinion. Those who loose out most are the Palestinians, who suffer so that the Muslim world can fight for the "Palestinian cause". An example of this is the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria who are treated like second class citizens (you want to find an apartheid, look there!), because accepting them would be against their "cause" of returning them to Israel...

Let me provide you with the actual history and I challenge anyone to make a real argument against anything I say because everything is documented fact. The 1948 war was not one war but two that blended together. The first stage of the war was when indigenous Jews from the Holy Land invited refugees fleeing the aftermath of Hitler’s Europe to live in the country. They were from there and they had every right to invite whoever they wanted. The Arabs who lived there who would later become what you refer to as the Palestinians viewed the newly invited Jews as invaders even though the Jews did not attack the Arabs. (You could also make the argument that the Arabs were the real invaders as Islam arrived in the Holy Land in the 7th century. That is why you can find 3000 year old Jewish temples in Israel but you can’t find any ruins belonging to Arabs from that time period because they arrived much later to spread their culture.). The Jews would go on to defeat the Arabs in the first stage of the war and this is when the event called the Nakba took place. The Nakba is a real historical event that the Pro Palestine side is obsessed with because during this event the Palestinians were expelled from their homes. They never bring up though that the Palestinians were expelled from their homes within the context of war. They make it sound like Jews just went door to door kicking innocent people from their homes. In war when you lose, much of the time you will lose land and resources. Most borders on Earth were formed from wars. The expelled Palestinians would be forced to move to Gaza and the West Bank in where they endured a brutal Israeli occupation. Just kidding 😂 Egypt occupied Gaza and Jordan occupied the West Bank until the 1960s. Most of the Palestinians were actually kicked out of Jordan because immediately after they arrived they tried to overthrow the Jordanian government. The Palestinians were then expelled to Lebanon where they to this day are forced to live in camps they are not allowed to leave under occupation from the Lebanese. Yes, Lebanon ironically occupies Palestinians while claiming to support them. In fact, the only place in the Middle East a Palestinian is not allowed to become a doctor is Lebanon not Israel. The second stage of the war was when 5 Arabs nations declared war on Israel after independence was officially announced. Of the five, three sent armies and all three armies were wiped out. This is how the state of Israel was formed. Since then there has been an endless cycle of Israel’s neighbors and the Palestinians declaring war on Israel, then losing those wars , then acting like they were the victims who did not initiate the war. Restarting a war from the 1940s because you don’t like that your side was on the losing side is not very wise. It would be like Japan declaring war on the US because they lost in 1945. They could make the argument the US committed genocide saying the US military killed millions of Japanese including tens of thousands killed from the nuclear bombs. I think what is the most interesting thing to me about the pro Palestine crowd is the selective outrage. I will use the Syrian Civil War as an example. The Syrian Civil War is a conflict that is going on currently that literally is only a few miles from Gaza. The entire State of Israel is only the size on the US state of New Jersey. In the Syrian Civil war 600,000 people have been killed. The majority of those people were innocent civilians. That is a number that is literally 20x greater than the Gaza death toll but it is intentionally ignored. That example shows my problem with the Pro Palestine crowd … I would like them if they were actually peace activists but most of them are in reality political activists trying to give one side an advantage.
