In germany we have since a few years the "Datenschutzgesetz" roughly translated into "data protection law", this law has its own agency taking on cases where the law would have been breached. Besides that there is our first constitutional amendment which covers this area a bit too. It describes our right to dignity. it was originally introduced because of the Holocaust and all what germans back then did to people, but now also is used to protect against other indignities. I am glad we have these options, it give the civilian a bit of protection in general, sadly not always in particular as seen when it came out that our data was transmitted by our own security agency to the USA because of some secret agreements. Only when our chancelors phone was hacked she was like "between friends this a nogo". So yeah, having a right and getting it realised are very different things. edit:spelling
