The washing solution used came from the bottle saying 5x, and also says "alcohol added". Was the washing solution diluted down to 1x before use? Why the (unnamed) alcohol, is this (presumably 100% ethanol) used to make it 1x?

Also, try saying "elution solution" as fast as you can ten times. See how far you get.

most of the time the ethanol content used for these is 70%
