My daughter was a diabetic so her birthdays had to be low to sugar-free because of that, not many kids would show up. Her 6th birthday I planned her a huge bbq/water party, what she wanted, but no one was going to come. With my job as a civilian contractor on a military base I new a bunch of airmen and when I told them, they all got her gifts and showed up for her. They even brought tents for a camp out in the backyard, watched barbie movies and let her do their hair, nails and makeup. She loved it! Remembers it to this day and says it was her best birthday. As mama's we find a way

@SDKitty78 My son is on a low sugar diet due to allergies. Swerve is the absolute best fake sugar brand that is organic and it so far isn't linked to any negative side effects. Also a 2 3large bananas + 3 egg + 1 tsp of vanilla = and awesome cupcake or cake replacement. I added chia and blueberries for my son's birthday cake. I use 1 egg and 1 banana for pancakes. For homemade cake frosting powdered swerve works fine mixed with cream cheese or butter. Food coloring and sprinkles make any kid happy. Whip cream is also an awesome addition to desserts because it only has 2 grams of sugar in every 2 tbsps. Dutched baking cacao is also naturally sweet chocolate that doesn't have any sugar. I use it for chocolate milk and mix it with coconut oil and swerve for home made chocolate. You can even make simple ice cream with froze coconut cream and fruit or vanilla. Whip up a can of coconut cream with what ever flavoring, freeze it, and it tastes amazing.

I had my daughter's 5th birthday party at the skating rink. Her whole kindergarten class was invited. None of them came. But her cousins and our friend with a kid came. So, like 4 or 5 kids, and the rest were adult family. It was the BEST birthday party she's ever had. She's 14 now, and we still talk about how fun it was. At the time I felt sad that her school friends didn't come but she NEVER NOTICED! She just had fun with the ones who were there. ❤

I rented out a room for my son's 5th or 6th birthday, and only 1 friend/mom and my parents showed up. None of his classmates were happy when they found out that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles showed up. I had no booked them, but when they found out about the lack of attendees, they came over free of charge. I had mom's yelling at me about it, lol. I will always be grateful for those performers doing that for my child.

Things happen, it’s life; but if you RSVP that’s communicating the intention to come. If you can’t show for whatever reason, just communicate that asap. If there had been a venue rented that depended on the number of attendees, you’ve just messed that up. So yeah, no more invites for that person.

For my 16th bday, I invited 15 people over a week in advance with PHYSICAL invites and only got RSVP's from everyone the day before and day OF the party ... All saying they couldn't come (except my BFF, honestly they could've been hit by a bus and they'd still show up) My mom didn't cancel anything. She took me, my sister, and my bestie to BJ's and you bet your ass she still ordered us the pizookie party platter. We didn't even finish half the cookie pizza and only ate like 3/8 of the ice cream scoops before we started feeling sick. I had been bawling my eyes out the 3 hours leading up to the party and still kind of sobbing on the drive over, but she was determined to try and save the night for me and make sure I had a fun time. So yeah, if I can enjoy a party with 1 out of the 15 people invited, 7 would have been just fine.

The first story, it’s not about the kids. It’s one of 2 things. 1) she’s trying to get “in” with a group, so she’s been going to everyone’s birthday party and she’s pissed they didn’t return the favor. 2) She thought she had more pull and she’s mad she only got half to rsvp. When I was in first grade my friend's mom invited the entire class of 30 kids to his birthday party. It was on Halloween and a Halloween themed party because that's when his birthday was. I was the only one to RSVP and the mom did not cancel his party. My older brother and I were the only to show up. And he said he had more fun with us and to this day every time he introduces me to someone he brings up that I was the only one to come to his birthday party. When my daughter was little we always invited the whole class and her dance class and soccer group. Usually of the 30ish invited only about 10 showed. But we knew those kids that came REALLY wanted to be there and were her true friends. As she got older we even had to drive some friends but they were so happy to be included. Trust me, the fewer kids the better - every kid left with a killer take home gift since there was less competition. (We did piñatas with better items in them since there were less kids coming. Then we did the Saran Wrap ball game with good items too.)

As a mother of three, and two granddaughters, I know for certain that four year olds do not care about size of rooms, and how many people are there. If she was 12 years old, definitely, because that’s when teenagers start to compare themselves with others. And if you are a parent who cancels events to avoid pain, that’s a dangerous precedence. I’m not usually a commenter but I felt like the first story really resonated with me. For my daughter’s 4th birthday, we invited her pre-k class, gymnastics class, and dance class. Well over 50 children. I didn’t expect even close to half of them to come but I still was banking on at least 10. 4 kids showed up. Only 4. And my heart broke when I saw that and the small table of gifts she had. But ya know what? She didn’t even notice. She was so happy to play with the friends that did show up and it never bothered her. To think of canceling that day, that’s more heart breaking than no one showing up. She was happy, she played, she got presents. That’s all that mattered. Put your parental bias aside and let your kids enjoy the little things.

She also got into an argument with her brother and instantly removed the kids from her will idk if I am on it either but idc because she tries to make it seem like she has a shit ton of money but I know the truth lol her and her fiance from a few years ago bought a 400k house right before the market went wild and she treated him like shit so he left but he did something awesome and made her buy him out of the house and everything she wanted to keep and the house went up to 700k so now she is literally broke and still trying to make it seem like she has money lol.

Y'all, to the first story, when I was in Kindergarten, my mother invited my ENTIRE class to my birthday party, and NO ONE showed up, but my sister and I still had fun! I was probably six, but my mom put in the effort to make sure we still had a good time. I think it's more about how the parents react than the children. Your kids rely on you emotionally, so if you're an emotional mess about your kid's birthday turnout, then you child will most likely feel worse than they should. Very self-centered behavior.

My son turned 2 last year and only 2 kids (that were 6 and 11) showed up because of the weather and he had so much fun that he didn't even notice. This is definitely about mom. Even a four year old wouldn't be upset to that extent. As long as they're having fun, they won't notice. I think kids only notice when they're 5+ or when the parents make a big deal about it.

When I was 17, I had a therapist. I was going through a lot of shit (bullying, adjustment issues, abandonment issues from my dad, being undiagnosed ADHD/autistic, serious issues with my mother.) I was starting to trust my therapist (I have issues trusting women, and didn’t feel comfortable around me).. except my mom drove me to every appointment. the next thing I know, my therapist is siding with my mother and basically calling me a liar saying my mom can’t be that toxic, she’s a nice reasonable lady, etc. they apparently had been talking outside of my presence, and my mom was telling her HER side of things. My therapist was also telling her things I had talked about in session..like in details Both of my sisters will confirm that HER side looks nothing like OUR side. At that age in my state, I had a right to privacy and autonomy with mental health professionals, I only needed parental consent when it was something that costed beyond what an appointment alone would. I still have a VERY hard time trusting other women. Both of my sisters, who tried to keep a closer relationship with our mother than I did, felt RELIEF when she passed away. They had no idea just how much they had been walking on eggshells. Im 39. That therapist still colors how i interact with mental health professionals. Therapists like this can do SERIOUS damage, even without breaking major codes of ethics.

But you're 39. So this happened over 20 years ago. And you've had control over your own mental health for 20 years. You don't have to live in that fear anymore. The world of therapy has changed A LOT. I'm nearly 32 now and have been in therapy off and on for years. It's time to go back to therapy and work through that. Or you'll bleed on folks who didn't cut you. It was one therapist in high school. They're not all like that. So. Go to therapy. It's not as scary as you remember. My own birthing unit is a narc drug addict and has been useless my whole life.

As a licensed therapist as well, I was definitely having the 😮 reaction. And yes, she should report that therapist. Even if that therapist isn't a "bad person" we are in positions with people, often at their most vulnerable, and that's why we have such strict legal and ethical obligations. To protect our clients. And the 1 rule we ALL know is you DON'T SLEEP WITH YOUR CLIENTS, or go anywhere near that. She and her husband might have been fine, but next couple that is more vulnerable might have their relationship permanently damaged.

My son was one of 26 kids from his 2nd grade class invited to his friend's birthday party. We rsvped and the day of the party rolls around. We roll up to find a bounce house, grandparents, aunties and uncles, siblings and me and my son are the only people who came from non family. The boys had a blast together and their family was fantastic! She told me how much she appreciated my son because her son had talked to her about how he always included everyone. I was so glad for her son's sake and my son's sake she hadn't cancelled the party. And my momma heart was so proud of my little guy for being a good friend! A 4 year old wasn't going to notice the difference between 7 and 15 friends. That was all on the mom! But if she can't handle it, she absolutely is correct that she shouldn't plan anymore parties for her kids if it just means she's going to have a temper tantrum and cancel them breaking her children's heart.

I am from the Midwest and moved south to start fresh. my kids were born down here and had my son's 4th birthday party at the local bowling alley. Invited about 20 kids, including the people I considered my very best friend's children. Not a single soul showed up. Not ONE Y'ALL. I was heartbroken for my child, and the party coordinator could see it written all over my face. She told me that she could keep an eye on my two kids if I needed a minute, and I went to the bathroom and bawled my eyes out. But you know what?! I came out, put a huge smile on my face, spoke to some of the families that were there bowling and invited them for cake. They sang Happy Birthday to my son, and we had a beautiful time!! I am forever grateful to those moms and dads that extended a small kindness by sharing in the happiness of a child they didn't know. But if you ask my son, who is 15 now, how his fourth birthday party went, he'd say I'm sure it was fun if you were there with us, mama. Kids are not walking around on their birthdays with a clipboard, verifying what was purchased, who was there, how much was spent. They remember how they FELT. I made sure that my son felt celebrated and loved, and that is what he has held onto. What a pitiful, sorry shell of a human being that woman is, and i truly hurt for her child.

That would be heartbreaking, as a parent to feel your child is left out etc its awful. I did a big party for my daughters 6th this year. I invited 60 kids, 2 classes of all of them so that no one felt left out. I knew most wouldnt turn up but on the day around 28 turned up which was insane and my daughter felt insanely loved, but what was nice was the parents who thanked us for inviting their child as they are always left out. My daughter is autistic and has 1 good friend, i didnt expect many to show if any but they came but the fear was awful. The first story hit home for me. When my son was 10, he won a party with everything paid for 10 kids at the local bowling alley. We were all very excited. He had trouble with bullies at school, but still wanted to invite kids from school. So he gave out invites, the bullies held it over him for a couple of weeks.....do this or we won't come, etc. we'll not one of them rsvp'd and not one turned up. The staff at the alley were fantastic and did there best to make the party special. I rang every friend that I had that had kids, although toddlers and got them to come. Thankfully he was oblivious and still had a great time. It was worth going ahead with the party, I would never cancel a party on a kid, that would be devastating.

Had the same thing happen to my son when he was 6, invited 10, got 10 rsvps… the kids told my son they were coming, parents called to confirm. 2 kids showed up. One kid had a sibling that was invited and the mom only brought 1 (her reason, I didn’t know both were invited… invite clearly had both names on it). He was hurt, he noticed. He still had fun but he was hurt…. Kids notice even if they are resilient, things like this is how you get hurt adults, it comes from hurt kids…because adults when appropriate didn’t consider the kid might actually notice.

My birthday is the week of Christmas and my brother's is too. We feel your pain. A child that young doesn't worry about who didn't come. They just wanna play, and one friend is enough to play. Keep trying to celebrate her. We discussed celebrating with friends in a different month. We were too lazy to do that in the end. Our biggest disappointments were "combined" b-day/Christmas presents. We would be like "oh they got us a CD we could have had two!" A little entitled, but we were kids. We didn't mind celebrating our bdays together, but any combo with Christmas hurt, outside family giving us b-day gifts at Christmas events, since that was when we were seeing them. No idea how old your daughter is now, but just some thoughts from a Christmas kid grown up. If she is grown hopefully she enjoyed her b-days. Hearing my brother talk i think half the reason he left Christianity is a resentment over Christmas 😂

Dude. I have 4 kids. I have never invited more than 4-5 kids that AREN'T family and even then, not all of them show up, and none of my kids have ever complained! None of my kids. Ever. They always have fun. Hell, one of my kids' 10th birthday was right after the Covid shut down AND on the day of his 3 month old sister's HEART SURGERY and he's NEVER complained! We still made sure that he had a family party at home and he got the gifts that he wanted and the day before was HIS day so he felt special, even though the circumstances sucked big time! Same kid, 2 years later, we had to change the date of his next baby sister's C-section to HIS BIRTHDAY. I told my doctor "Nope. I'm asking my son. It has to be up to him." He chose the day before his birthday. When I tell you that this kid has such a big heart and is so willing to roll with the flow, and we always make sure to make each child's birthday their own, no matter what else is going on. No matter what, and that's never been huge birthday parties with tons of kids invited! Quality over quantity. It's about making the child feel special on their day, and maybe it's just me and my neuro spicy brain, but that's so much harder to do with a ton of extra kids running around! Not that it can't be fun, but for our family, I spend more time overseeing the party than enjoying time with my kids.

Trust me, he probably wouldn’t tell you even if it did bother him. He’ll wait until he’s 22 and has had a few too many drinks, then he’ll unleash years of resentment on you going back to when he’s 4 yrs old and you chose to let his sister be born the day after him, resulting in years of shared birthdays. My son was perfect as a kid and we were super close. When he became 16 and got his first girlfriend, he started getting attitude and gave me the cold shoulder kind of regularly. I tried to break into his mind and get him to tell me what was going on. I know for a fact his GF got into his head and turned him against me and his dad. He spent years being resentful over things I had no idea ever bothered him. He’s 25 now and about to be a father. Luckily we’re close again but it’s not as good as it used to be. She’s the sort of mum that has other mums leave the “Mummy and Me” group! I went to ONE with our oldest (26 now). The mums were split in cliques; one group was mums dressed to the nines, hair and makeup perfect, nails done, talking about how to do this and that. The other, which I ran over to as fast as my sleep deprived arse could, was full of mums with hair up in a pony tail, no makeup, comfy clothes, sipping highly caffeinated coffee while watching their wee one run around like the Tasmanian Devils they are! I plopped down, said hello and stared into the void while sucking down my coffee (which you know was cold as Siberia!). The looks from the other side of the room were hilarious, I actually spat out coffee. I looked at the mums I sat down with and asked if it was always this way? They all just nodded. I then invited them all to my home and let them know who I was and they all knew of my estate, inherited. They were rather shocked that I didn’t have a nanny, truth be told. We all packed up and off we went. Best group of mums and kids possible and we all helped each other navigate this Mum Gig. The “Mean Girl” mums caught wind of where everyone went and tried to get in. The front gates were closed to them forever. I know for a fact the woman in that video would have begged, pleaded and cried to try to get in 🤣 I don’t play that game. Even to this day, I refuse to entertain rubbish. I’m still friends with some of the mums. We’ve attended many milestones in each other’s kids lives and cheered each other on during the rough goes.

From a licensed clinical psychologist’s professional perspective, that therapist’s behavior was unethical and if this therapist is a licensed mental health provider, a complaint should be filed with her licensing board.

Her friends even told her to report her but she said, she didn't want to because she seemed like a nice person, well then don't call the cops & don't file charges! Good person, ok- bad therapist, report her! How many other couples will she damage? How many families does she need to destroy before she's a bad person? 😢

I work in healthcare and I am always on the side of, if they break the rules/ethics of their profession, report them. If I do something that breaks rules/laws/ethics, report me. It could be there is a reason you don’t see, the board will investigate and acknowledge that reason, if the board (normally includes members of the profession and civilians) thinks my reason justified my actions, then I will get a talking to but I will still have my career and I will learn a lesson so I am more careful in the future. If it’s not reported, I could keep making the same mistakes over and over and never learn from them until something truly awful happens and I am devastated. In the healthcare profession, accountability is huge and very important. I can only learn if my mistakes are pointed out, and I want to always be learning from my mistakes so I don’t repeat them.

I was sick once and my throat was closing up. The doctor came in to urgent care and he did the wooden stick down my throat. I coughed and he threw his flashlight against the wall to my side. I was so scared. He and I (as a woman) were the only two people there. He did apologize but it was lame. Ended up crying- thought he was going to hurt me. Then I reported the shit out of him.

Had she asked for literally anyone's input on what she should do about the party, she wouldn't have canceled it in the end, and even probably felt a lot better about herself as a mother too. Literally, anyone would tell her not to worry because any 4 year old would be happy with even just one of their friends showing up, let alone SEVEN of them, and for seven 4 year olds, no room is going to be big enough to stop them from having a great party. In fact I'd say that it would kill the fun for the kids if the room was too small.

This was about all about the mom and what she wanted. She needed content. Had I been one of the 7 guests attending & saw this, I would be upset. Her behavior shows that it wasn't about sharing a special moment with loved ones. Those 7 weren't enough. Me, my child, & our 7 guests would've had a blast because I would've made the best with what I had. When my oldest got old enough to realize that out of 27-ish invites the only one or two would come, we stopped having parties. We did a celebration with cake and dinner with family and friends. The kids would be cousins or the kids of friends. I realized how much we spent on food, cake, crap party favors, and location (zoo, pool, ect.), how stressed I would get about worrying if people would come, and decided on a better use for the money. Now we take a weekend trip just the four of us (he has a brother 9 years younger). The birthday kid get to choose the activities and everyone participates. Sometimes its a theme park, sometimes is simply camping, either way we have a blast and make memories. Given that I use to work 50 to 60 hours a week and my husband travels for work it's wonderful just decompressing and spending time together.

Don't be afraid to report your therapist when they behave inappropriately. Even if they are a good person, that does Not mean they are a good therapist! Also, it usually takes more than just one complaint of behavior described in the video for their license to be revoked/suspended. If something did happen to their license after you complain, they already had a record of this (or worse) behavior. If seven kids came to my 4 year old b-day party, I would've been on Cloud 9. That mom canceled entirely because her own ego got wounded.

My 4-year-old had a party where we went to the park. his cousins (that he didn't even know well) just so happened to attend the same park at the same time and with other children that he didn't even know... he was elated! may I add that he just came from a party 2 weeks before that was packed full of children and activities that were purely epic. My cousin, she was 18 and I was 8, had a really cute friend when we were growing up and I did the dumbest shit to get him to notice me. I wanted to constantly impress him with my "skills". My favorite "skill" that I displayed one day was to bite the tire of someone's bike to make it pop (I still don't understand my logic but here we are), while at the community pool. He was one of the lifeguards and he was on the chair where he would have perfect sight of my work. I was sure the brute strength of my jaw would truly be the coolest thing ever to him. Many people witnessed me biting dirty rubber like a maniac that day, including him. 😂 I did other "cool" things that are now hilarious to me and my cousin, but biting the random person's bike tire to get a teen boy to like 8 year old me is my favorite story of this saga.
