A lot of people are confused by how Shiba’s can be so closely related to wolves, but if you look up a picture of what the Japanese Wolves looked like before they went tragically extinct, you’ll quickly realize why they’re considered as such. The old Japanese Wolves basically looked like large, feral Shiba’s. It’s wild.

My shibe approached me in a park one day when i was walking my dogs and jumped into my car. No collar and obviously starving. Home we went and he jumped onto my husband's lap, taking care of any potential objections to adoption there. We couldn't trace his 'owner' (the idea of owning a shibe is laughable) so he stayed. He decided on his own walk times by climbing out of any open window and going for a stroll when he felt like it. Obedience training? Don't make me laugh. He reacted with polite embarrassment to our efforts. We knew Otto for 7 wonderful years before he died of cancer. What a gentleman he was. I miss him every day.

Really?! I spend a month there each year as my SO currently lives there. I've seen plenty of dogs out there, but never a Shiba, so I guess I just assumed it was too hot for them or something. That's excellent to hear!

@@Orangefury19 Yeah I was on Oahu in Waikiki, and I'll never forget asking a nice old Japanese lady if I could take a pic of her dog to send back to my old roommate... despite all my praise the Shiba was completely uninterested and looked at me like I was just wasting their time😂

My Shiba is only selectively cat-like. He likes to keep himself clean, and is independent. He's extremely affectionate, but it's always on his own terms. The older he is, the more he loves to cuddle, but in no way is a Shiba a lap dog. He's now 4 years old.

He loves it! I usually brush him once or twice a week and that seems to do just fine. More often when he is blowing his coat.

Are Shiba Inus really as small as people say them to be? They don't look that small on videos... Like, are they as small as pugs? (The only dog whose size I am familiar with lol) Or are they bigger? If so, by how much would you estimate?
@AtheistGamerz5 жыл бұрын
Shibas are medium sized dogs. So they're bigger than pugs. If pugs are small and German shepherds are large, shibas are like somewhere in the middle.

my cousin has two shibas, a white and brown. she's had pucca for 7 years and bailey for 4 years. i love them and i love dogsitting them but the problem is they shed so so much. if you ever go into my cousin's car, it's full of dog fur and in the end of the day i have dog fur all over my clothes. she grooms them 3-4 times a weeks so i don't understand why they shed everywhere. anyone?

Amir I paid $1000 for my Shiba. Do not buy a Shiba just because they are "cheaper" this usually means they are either commercially bred, backyard bred or from a puppy mill. a more expensive dog will be healthier and have a better temperament.

Think of it like being married to a really well adjusted adult. If you shouted 'COME HERE!' to your well adjusted spouse they would look at you compassionately, wonder what had got into you, and decide whether coming over to you fit in with their plans or not. They might come to you or they might not. They might go shopping instead. They wouldn't get annoyed with you but they wouldn't feel the need to explain why they weren't obeying you because hey, we're both adults here, right? They'd notice that you were the kind of person who likes to give orders a lot (you silly old bossypants) but they wouldn't take it personally. They would just get on with their own agenda and love you just the same.

Shiba inus come in 3 colors. Cream is not a standard color nor is it intentionally bred for (in good breeders). The video should have clarified this because any reputable breeder that is breeding for creams is more than likely a puppy mill. Otherwise, this was a great video! :)

@olivegardenmenu65578 жыл бұрын
+Paul Siguenza Ya you can train him to be better around other dogs and the problem could go away. In my eyes Shiba Inu's are the most worth it pain in the ass ever lol. One thing you can do to train him (I've done this method for my Shiba) is ask a friend that owns a dog, any dog, to bring it over for a bit at try to get your Shiba to play around with it and get used to other dogs. You can do this for a while and with friends that have different dogs and your Shiba should improve. It's a long process but it works, also if your Shiba tries to attack which they have a tendency to do obviously don't let him, so you see him about to attack grab him and sorta hold him back lol.
@SilentDarkAngel168 жыл бұрын
your tip is good but also very risky, do borks tip but make sure you guys meet with a see thru door between the dogs at first meeting, especially if one of the dogs generally aggressive this way it'll be safe if you have a way to let them smell each other thru the door too that'll also be great. my bf's cousin is a really really good at trainer her dogs and knows what to do during meetings when my lil shiba was barely hitting 9mos old he really needed a playmate so we went to her she has a door that closes between her living room and kitchen its windowed for the dogs to see each other and the bottom is also slightly elevated so the dogs can lean down and sniff each other. she has 2 dogs so she let them in one by one one was too excited they sniffed both calmed she let her in with my dog but next dog a large male he was excited but not a min later he barked and barked and did not like my dog at all and that dog was supposed to be the playdate but it didnt work out. so please everyone out there make sure you do dog meetings safely so both dogs do not get harmed and the owners too.
