When they said the jadeite feels greasy, I was immediately reminded of a line from Kung Fu Panda, Legend of Awesomeness, when Mr. Ping visits The Jade Palace. The line he said is "By the way, did the cleaning lady quit? These floors look like they been moped with butter.". I get it now, it's the luster of the jade.

The quality of this episode eclipses the previous episodes from '17 & '18. Natalie's maturity and screen presence has grown so much. Of course, Chris is awesome as usual.

A lot of the Nephrite I pick up is opaque yet retains the "waxy" lustre, and many puritans refused to believe it was the same mineral as the gem grade stuff that makes the store shelves here in NZ, China and Canada. Putting the same ingredients together doesn't always create the same result!!
@christopherclark5615
@christopherclark5615 3 жыл бұрын
This is why the nephrite and jadeite trade is so challenging, subtle differences in quality have a huge impact on value.
@haperawehiwehi8661

@@christopherclark5615 its immensely subjective. I personally go for the shades of blue, orange, brown, olive etc over the "pure" apple green. It hurts my soul when I see collectors dump interesting looking stones in favor of the tiniest gem grade rock.

Is there any cheaper more colorful examples of adamantine luster
@noone-uy1ir
@noone-uy1ir 3 жыл бұрын
Well, there are, but none are quite as sparkly (let alone durable!) as diamond. The only ones that come to mind are cinnabar and titanite. Cinnabar is an absolute no-no for jewelry. Titanite is a little more stable but you still need to wear it in a protective setting... and certainly not everyday. It's quite soft and does have cleavage planes. If you're into gem collecting, though... both are wonderful options! (cinnabar is tough to come by in cut gems though)
@Dat_Rainbow-Haired_Dude

I meant more like synthetic options because as cool as natural gemstones are, I really only care what it looks like

Strontium Titanate, a lab-created stone, is a good affordable example, available in several colors. Melanite, a black andradite garnet is affordable. You very rarely see it faceted, but small cerrusite specimens are also a good example of adamantine luster.

I absolutely love what you do and I appreciate it. But when you talk you love to talk and I love to listen but I want to see the product more than you show it you say look and you hold it out and it's black and you bring it back and talk about it and there's no lights out front to illuminated when you do that. Take time to show the item even at the end whoever edited cut through bang bang bang bang bang bang different shots and you never get a good look at it so I would hope you would slow down a little bit and enjoy how things look and not just where they're from or the cuts xcetera thank you so very much
